I did not get past question 4. I had just said in a question before that, that my name had been removed from the church books, that I attended a non denom church or a Calvary Chapel. I could not honestly say I was a baptized member because I am not. So I quit the survey.

I just finished the (corrected) survey~ #13 was not a problem because I was able to leave all the boxes unchecked! In the spaces provided for comment I was wrote a brief sentence that I believed ellen g. white to be a false prophet preaching a heretical doctrine~that's it! in every place I could I wrote this~

How to answer question 16? The church is so far off base, there's no answer to that question.

I pray God can use our answers to open more eyes to His true gospel in Jesus Christ.

I finished the survey and gave them very detailed responses on the problems with SDA theology. I wonder how long we will have to wait to find out what the results are.

Couldn't get past question #4, exited the survey.

It says: Your feedback is important in helping to create pleasant church experiences.

Again this is only an effort to make the SDA appear acceptable instead of what it truly is, a cult.
In other words the wolf needs a new sheep skin because he feels that the one he wears is not working. You can't very well waylay a sheep if the skin you hung on is showing wolf legs under a sheep skin.

Strictly from a never been point of view, it is highly unlikely that you would see a Pentecostal, Baptist or Lutheran type church so interested in the perception of their church as to put out a survey so they could Taylor it to John Q Public. It is what it is. You would be welcome to attend, but if you disagree with it, you would be welcome to attend some other good Bible believing church.

I said Pentecostal, Baptist, Lutheran type church and not any particular one because I believe the basic assumption to either one is that the Lord Jesus Christ bled, died, and was resurrected for our sins and they are not about to try and hang on a new skin on the basic gospel just to provide one with a more pleasant church experience.

For one thing they realize that a sinner may grow very uncomfortable as the Holy Spirit brings conviction, but of course this seems to be foreign to SDA's.

Basically, you can hang any sign you like on the church door, but the basic premises of these Pentecostal, Baptist, Methodist (type) for a better word, not inclusive of renegade groups, stand on the four pillars of the Christian faith and those pillars will not be moved for the sake of a more pleasant church experience.

This is not just an uneducated opinion because I have studied, point by point, the basic beliefs of all these churches. This is not exclusive to me as anyone can find out the same thing by attending a good accredited school of Christian theology.

Any religion must take its measure in the four Pillars of the Christian faith and it is pass/fail. The SDA church fails under this measure of scrutiny, in fact, is not even considered in the study of Christian theology.

That is another interesting fact that not once was the SDA church mentioned in the studies of an accredited and impartial Christian school of theology, while Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Methodist, Pentecostal, Lutheran faiths were disassembled and studied point by point.

Of course Mormon and JW, including New Age were not considered either as these are cultic in nature. Period.

It may bruise your ego just a little bit seeing SDAism looms large in your own mind to find that it does not even receive a passing glance in the studies of basic theology in an accredited school of theology.

However, I'm not here to pet egos, or to make friends, although I do appreciate those lasting friendships that I have made, I am here to give you a clue from the viewpoint of an evangelical world unsullied by Adventism.

I don’t pretend to know what the answer is in retrieving those that are sunk deep into such cults as Adventism, Mormonism or JW other than prayer and supplication to god almighty that he might extend grace to them.

My message to Former Adventist is to make effort the find out what the four pillars of the Christian faith is and stand on that those four pillars that have stood the test of time, and prevailed over every attack from without by the dogs and sorcerers whose end will be ruin.

I tend to think these four pillars of the Christian faith is the dividing line because it is a pass/fail. It is not the different methods of worship or the nuances of basic beliefs that should bind us together, but those four pillars of faith that has produced martyrs, withstood attacks, and stood the test of Bible theology. I believe there is important differences in the various faiths, but those differences do not take precedence of the four pillars of the Christian faith of which we hold in common.

I tend to think it is there in those four pillars that we should look for answers in the evangelization of SDA’s. We present the gospel and leave it up to the Holy Spirit to convict of wrong. Head on. Paul said when we have done all to stand then stand and yes that means open warfare, but it is not physical warfare, it is spiritual warfare and we must choose the high ground and that high ground is Jesus death burial and resurrection for propitiation for the sins of us all.

Perhaps these are just my own thoughts and ramblings and have no bearing on the individual problems of Former Adventist.

In the past I have, at times chosen the low ground here on this forum, at times become embroiled in ignorant tat tat, and shame on me, God help me to remember the high ground for it is from there we must fight for the right and shun the wrong.

I did not like the questions where it asked 'if you have left what can we do to help you attend SDA church again'.
There were two similar questions like this, but one had a list of ideas underneath it as examples such as music, service type, etc etc.

It's like NOTHING can make me come back. Who cares if you change how your service operates or whatever?! For that question I wrote that I'd be happy if they completely changed, apologized to Christian churches for their finger pointing, dropped all heresy, etc. But I concluded with the fact that there are many churches out that already preach the true gospel.

Mkfound, I agree with you. NOTHING could ever make me go back. I personally have concluded that in order for me to go back I would have to reject Jesus (Gospel) and the Holy Spirit since the SDAs have replaced Jesus with the sabbath day and the Holy Spirit with the writings of EGW. I just don't ever seeing SDAs ever rejecting the sabbath day or the writings of their false prophetess.... EVER. And if by some miracle they should, they as an entity would completely fall apart and disintergrate and I see them just dispersing into other churches. They, as an organization, would just cease to exist anymore.....kinda like Babylon or the tower of Babel LOL!

river, I believe in keeping discussions simple and uncomplicated. :-) I have an honest request: What do you consider the Four Pillars of Christian Faith.

I just want to make completely sure that we all have the same Four. Maybe I have three the same as you do and differ on the fourth. <grin>

I doubt we differ but don't want any room for error or misunderstanding here. <smile>

Yeah, I thought the 'what could make you come back' question was interesting. I told them that every SDA distinctive would have to be renounced and if that was done, there would be no SDA church to return to!

Richard,
Here they are.

The four pillars of the Christian faith.

1. Believe that Christ died and rose the third day.
2. Sola fide, by faith alone.
3. Christ deity.
4. Absolute and complete atonement for our sins at the cross.

I believe in keeping them simple and uncomplicated too, I just seem to be able too. :-)

thanks River, I just wanted to make sure we were all looking at the same four pillars and talking about the same "thing".

Over the past few years I've allowed it to "be ok" to have a simple and uncomplicated walk with Jesus Christ. In years past and with my background of having 10 key texts to prove any important Scriptural truth I missed out on the simpleness of that walk with my Savior.

I guess I've found it to be ok to go from complicated to "simple". Yet the "simple" is also VERY profound.

This attitude keeps me out of MANY arguments . . . :-)

I'm beginning to see the dishonest tactics of SDA survey taking. Here is a comment I read on another forum site:

"Good thoughts....another is if you have a viable address......a religious survey could be taken at the door....sometimes these surveys are more honest if they do not know that you are SDA.....that way you have made a non threatening contact with them...."

Tfelmon,

I saw that comment as well. It's amazing how deception comes so easily to SDA's and they don't even seem to have a thought that it's wrong. The deceptive nature of Adventism goes back to Ellen and the beginning of the whole mess. It has continued ever since by hiding so much about the history of the church and the truth about EGW. So many lies and cover-ups! It really turns my stomach.
