This news story ran recently in a local paper. Adventists were invited to share the final fast-ending meal of Ramadan at the Redlands Islamic Center. The article quotes the head chaplain from LLU Medical Center, who attended, and also the mayor of Loma Linda.

Lest there is any disbelief about it, Adventism really is building bridges with Islam.

quote:

By Gina Tenorio
Loma Linda Mayor Rhodes Rigsby welcomes the crowd to the event. On Thursday night, four days before the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims and Christians from around the Inland Empire gathered in Loma Linda to break bread at the ...

~This information is disturbing , but as far as I am concerned, not unexpected...adventists are sliding down a 'slippery slope'with their 'inclusion' of many 'Faiths' into their particular "World View"!

I am passing on the article to many people I know~

Wasn't it Dwight Nelson who said, in a sermon, that Allah is the same as the adventist God?

Has it ever crossed anyones mind here if perhaps Islam plays a significant role in end time events? I know that I have wondered about it myself. I don't really believe that it's really the Catholic church as SDAs say. But then again...from what I have studied so far I don't think I'll be here what it all happens anyways. I'll be with the Lord.

I do believe Islam will play a BIG part in the end time events. I doubt seriously that the Catholic church will have much if anything at all to do with it.
I thoroughly believe that we at this very time have a President who is Muslim in his beliefs. I believe this man who seemingly came out of nowhere.... and was elected our President was not so much voted in by the people of this nation as he was PLACED there as part of a larger plan. But,, and this may seem to contradict what I just said... but it really doesnt (in my mind at least) I just dont know how to really put it into words... but I also believe that we as Christians in America tend to see ourselves as being a larger and more important part of "end time events" than is the reality. I believe the largest part of the events of those days will be played out in the land where Jesus walked and talked and had His earthly ministry. I may be completely wrong... but that is my gut feeling. Maybe I feel that way partly because from EGW we were led to believe that Jesus return depends so much on US.. and since I now know she was a LIAR and her lies continue on though she is dead in body...the lying and deceitful spirit that was in that woman continues to influence so many people. Sometimes I feel I should pray for God to show her mercy,,,, other times, when I see so much of what her influence has done and continues to do... I wish I could spit on her grave. I know that sounds awful.... Lord forgive me.

And I don't think Adventists are trying to win Muslims over to be regular SDAs. In the mid-90s Gerald Whitehouse, then the GC director of Muslim relations, told me when I interviewed him for Adventist Today, that SDA missionaries to Muslim countries integrate into the culture, find connections with Muslims that include the food laws (no pork, etc), Abraham, even the Torah and its principles, no alcohol, and gradually introduce them to "Jesus". Then, he said, they accept Jesus, and they never have to stop being Muslim. They're just Muslims who now believe Jesus is not only a prophet but also the son of God and the one who died.

Whitehouse also told me that Allah is the same god "we" worship. And now Adventists (as articulated by Jon Paulien in a talk in Ohio in 2008) are saying that "the remnant" will be a people with characteristics derived from all three monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

I'm not sure they're attempting to make Adventists as much as they are developing a syncretistic amalgamation of values and beliefs so they can "coexist" as friends sharing similar values and respecting each other's differences.

~Thegoldenway & Skeeter~
We are living in exciting times, aren't we?!!! Yes, it has crossed my mind regarding the Muslim possible involvement in the end-times prophecy fulfillment~ since they are the people who do cut-off people's heads for disobeying their rules~ and in Revelation we are told that the people who will not take the anti-christ number will have their heads removed~all this being said~~~I believe that biblically I am correct when I say that the 'Believers in Christ' will not be on earth during the seven years tribulation~when all this will be taking place~
The United States is not mentioned in end-times events and even if they are and we have not understood correctly, does it really matter? when you Remember the following:
~GOD is Sovereign over rulers and kings~He removes and sets up those in authority! There are many scriptures that confirm this~ two of them are as follows~~~ Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of GOD forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His, and He changes times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise; and knowledge to those who have understanding." Daniel 2:20,21.
Proverbs 21:1 tells us~ "The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes."~
I Praise our Mighty GOD that He alone knows the end from the beginning and we have No Worries when we are 'in Him'~ our command is to 'Stand for Him'& spread the 'Good News'~

Hahaha....Skeeter, you're not the only one who feels that way about EGW. (including the "grave thing")
I also don't think that the USA will play a prominent role in end time events either. I see it being between the peoples in the middle east and also in their land. The whole bible up to this point has been centered over there and with those people.
Hey does anyone know what the SDAs are doing to reach the Jewish people? Are they going to the same extreme measures that they are using with the Muslims?

This does not surprise me about the sda trying to align themselves with the Muslims. Look at their history of who they aligned themselves with in the past. I wonder if the sda think this is going to save them.
Yes I agree that end-time events will mainly take place in the east but it will also reach out to other countries.
I have a question and that is, we know God told Hagar that her son Ishmael would be a disturber of people. Isn't this where Muslim comes from? I know they claim Mohammad as their leader but did he not come out of the same tribe as Ishmael?

I'm not positive, but I think they take that story about Abraham being commanded to sacrifice Isaac, and God intervening and supplying a ram in the bushes; and substituting Isaac with Ishmael.

I wonder what Adventists would do if Muslims took over the world and tried to force everyone to become a Muslim?

When I was an SDA in university a hare krishna tried to sell me a vegetarian book. I was a selectatarian at the time but following the kosher rules and I remember thinking it was a good open door to talk about SDA beliefs with here. I had similar feelings about Muslims. The SDA mindset is to use any opportunity to talk about and/or draw people to the SDA message.

But as a Christian my mindset has changed it's all about Jesus and who He is and what He has done.

To dovetail off what you said Asurprise, I continue to find it amazing that SDAs somehow think 1 billion Muslims will all of the sudden bow to Rome and start worshipping on Sunday. I am in contact with Muslims almost daily in my work---many barely tolerate a nominal Christian society--swinging over to "sunday worship" especially when Jesus is just a prophet to them really stretches SDA credulity

Another interesting happening between SDA's and Muslims. Very shocking...go to http://www.revivalsermons.org/forums/index.php?topic=3887.0 Hope this link works. If not, go to Revival Sermons, then to the Public Evangelism section, then Outreach to Muslims thread. This some how reminds me of the SDA's in Germany situation. But worse, somehow.

The reason Muslims can leave SDA's alone and not convert them is because they share the same spirit.....a lying, deceptive demonic spirit.
It's a harsh thing to say but from all the research I've been doing on the SDA denomination they have had chance after chance to renounce the lies and false teaching and their false prophet...but they refuse. Kinda reminds me of the Jews thru out the OT and NT. Deaf, blind, and hard hearted. In saying this I'm not just passing judgment on them but on myself too cuz I used to be a part it not long ago.

This link didn't show the photo of the people who were participating, kneeling on the floor during this program--hands on knees, heads bowed, eyes closed. (Maybe I didn't know how to access it...)

Anyway, when I saw the kneeling photo, I thought, "These SDAs are doing what Daniel and his friends refused to do even though they knew they would be burned alive."

OK, I just neglected to see the little arrows on both sides of the small photos--that's where it is. In case any of you missed it, check it out.

I've been following this trend in adventism for awhile...wonder if any of the SDA participants in this Islam service would also join in the worship at the next FAF weekend?!

I think the message is simple, and it is a thought that I have heard partially expressed by many SDAs.

SDAism has more in common with Islam than it does with Protestantism or even Catholicism.

Galations 4 tells us something very interesting:

21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

29But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

These words were written after Jesus's crucifixion and tell us that spiritually those that desire to be under the law are spiritually children of the bondwoman. So SDA's with their desire to be under the law are in fact spiritually children of Hagar .

Those in Christ are spiritually children of the Freewoman, even though they may be Irish, Indian, Brazilian, Iranian, or Chineese

You cannot be Isaac and Ishmael at the same time. They were two separate people. Just like I cannot be Chris and My older brother Keith at the same time. He is Keith, and I am Chris, always have been.

This tells us you cannot be under the covenant of the Law, and the New Covenant In Christ at the same time.

Now anyone can practice Islam, just as anyone can be in Christ in spite their heritage, but generally speaking most adherents of Islam are on the Hagar line of Abrahams descendants, not on the Sarah line of descendants who constitute the Hebrews.Like wise most practicing Jews are of the Sarah line of Abraham, and not the Hagar line.

Those that hold to the religious customs of their Hebrew heritage, the Law, are just as spiritually severed from Christ as their stepbrother Ishmael's descendants who hold onto another gospel. It has nothing to do with their genetics, it has to do with their faith in Christ reconciling us to God, not of our own works. Otherwise people would boast, and they do boast. "Look at me, I keep the Law", which is to really saying "Look at me , I just scooped up some dung and bathed myself in it, and then I went and put on someone else's old dirty sweaty gym clothes from the local High School and top it off with a greasy rag from the mechanics shop tied around my head like a hippy bandana." Paul talked about this phenomena.

SDA and Islam are not so strange bedfellows after-all.

Know Jesus, and Jesus will set you free.

"30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman."

That verse hit me square between the eyes just a year ago, very clearly stating that the bondwoman (slavery, law) & her son, & the freewoman & her son cannot live together in the same household. Throw out, get rid of the slavewoman. Law & grace do not abide together. WE must take action, get rid of slavery/law & only dwell with grace & freedom.

We could even perhaps say that it is a command: CAST OUT the bondwoman & her son. They are NOT to be together.

Praise the name of Jesus!
