Hey all,
havent been here in awhile, and when I come, I always tear up. I love the stories of the new folks coming out of adventism in the 'members only' section. Sure wish they were posted here, they are so encouraging. Miracles are happening!
anyway...

Tonight Im at a worship venue, participating in worship--tearing up over the very songs that used to annoy me... songs about the blood, songs about
Glory and Honor and Praise
Glory and Honor and Praise
Glory and Honor and Praise
Sung over and over, yet these days I dont tire of the words, because today I "get" worship. I no longer participate in "song service" or complain when five songs precede the sermon, because im not just "singing" a song, I am worshipping the One. Just one more of the benefits of freedom that keeps getting better with time.
Im six years out of adventism and I want to say that I am happier than ever, completely secure in salvation, not looking back at all. I think that is important for new formers to know. It keeps getting better, and the pain fades, the closeness with Jesus grows, new friends come, deep close friendships even stronger than the ones before, because we are one in the Spirit.
The journey out is not only necessary, it is life!
Oh Jesus, thank you for revealing Your truth and setting me free from Adventism!

Hi Javagirl! :-)
It's also nice to enjoy Jesus instead of being annoyed at Him because of all the things we couldn't do on "Sabbath." (Though we told ourselves we enjoyed the "Sabbath day.")
It's so nice that's the Sabbath isn't a DAY anymore - that it's a Person and we can rest in Him!!! :-)

Yes, Javagirl, worshipping/praise with songs instead of being 'performers' of music is a HUGE difference between SDA church and the Christian church we attend now (and other Christian churches we've visited). I could just sing and sing and lose myself in praise to our Redeemer and God. I remember when the hymns used to be boring and I would think that eternity in heaven might be really boring. I just didn't understand what real, joyous worship was.

Well, really, if you have to wait til the IJ,s done to know if you've made it, what's there to celebrate now?!?

Hi Lori :-)
No I haven't posted my story anywhere....but there are just bits and pieces of it thru out both the discussion and members sections.
I was a 6th generation SDA. Went to SDA church schools 1-13 grades. Graduated from Maplewood Academy.
July of 2001 is when things started to go a different direction for me. And then major doctrines started to collapse for me in 2010. What started that was what happened to me in a car wreck (Dec 09) when I died and came back to life. That was the first major doctrine to collaspe for me ...... the state of the dead. That experience got me to studying my bible in a way I had never done before.....without EGW and SDA perspective. Then just this last May I "happened" to get a hold of a book called "The Naked Truth: Exposing the Deception of Adventism" Right after I finished that book I was so overwhelmed I needed to talk to someone so I asked God to get me connected with one of the authors of this book. You know within a couple of days that actually happened. I connected with Cherry Brandstater who was also a 6th generation SDA. I did her study on Ultimate Rest on gentlybroken.com and down went the sabbath....hehe After that things SDAish just came down rather rapidly. Of course this is just a brief sketch of all that got me here to where I am today.
I am like you in that I love to worship my God :-)
Last Sunday was so refreshing...the worship was beautiful and it just took you right to the throne room of God. I can't wait til tomorrow morning yaya!! Sundays coming!
So where is your story Lori? :-) Posted anywhere in the Forum? Would love to read your experience! Every story I read from a "Former" just leaves me amazed at how God works everything out in each life. Oh....He is wonderful!

Lynn, Wow, go God! I hope you write your story out--I found it really healing! I sent out my story in a series of email installments to about 100 plus Adventists, as well as some formers and my family. Never did get any responses from any adventists wanting to dialog, or ask questions respectfully--just hate type mail responses or no responses. SAD TO SAY< I REALLY wanted to dialog. That was five years ago. Adventist folks are really afraid of me--guess cuz Im so incredibly full of joy and living the Christian life. My before (leaving sda) was not this pretty!
If you are interested in reading the story, email me, my email is in the member only section access-- i think you need to click on my name.

I heard of The Naked Truth. I know that a lady named Hazel Holland had some dreams and then later wrote that book too. There is another former SDA living in Japan who did the artwork for the book. I found his blog. He is American and married to a Japanese lady.

~Lynn~
I believe the only way you can get the 'profile' of the person posting is if they post in the "Members Section"~ At least this has been my experience~

Butterfly...
Ya there are three authors listed for that book.
Hazel, Ramone, and Cherry.
Cherry is the one that has a website called gentlybroken.com
Very good book.
If your interested, you could borrow my copy that I have on my kindle. (Not for sure if this is a book that can be lent on kindle. Havent checked)
It was a good read.
What intrigued me about that book, that would probably be a turn off for other SDAs, were the dreams that Hazel had. I have had several dreams dealing with future events in my own life and dealing with the SDA church. Didn't understand them when I had them. But NOW after going thru all I have they make perfect sense....and they have happened (and parts are still coming forth).
God obviously is using various avenues to reach as many as He can within the SDA system.
my email is 4 posts up.

I have an 85 year old cousin on facebook. When I left adventism I let her know. She will not discuss anything about adventism I put on my profile. About a month ago she did put on her profile that at least I still love God. I forget what I put on her profile. I think I was wishing her happy birthday.
