I just put something together. This year, 2011, is being called in Christendom "The Year of the Bible" because it marks 400 years since the publication of the KJV in England. Many churches, including ours, are encouraging their members to read through the Bible this year, and several are using a Bible reading plan called Route 66. Anyway, here's the kicker I just realized this morning. This year, 2011, is being called, in the SDA organization (spearheaded by Ted Wilson) "The Year of the Great Controversy" because it marks the 100th anniversary of the 1911 edition of the Great Controversy (the last edition), and members are being urged to read through TGC this year and to begin mailing the book to "unbelievers". Coincidence? I think not. Even if it's not "conscious", the spirit of Adventism absolutely recognizes the deceptive nature of having the two anniversaries coincide and the subtle but profound juxtaposition of The Year of the Bible and the Year of the Great Controversy. Isn't this just amazing? (Sigh--and in many ways, it's not surprising at all...) Colleen | ||

Colleen, where is 'The Year of the Bible'in Christendom documented, or referenced? I would like to share this with someone who teaches a bible reading plan. It is certainly not a coincidence! And just another way that sdaism displaces, or replaces the gospel truth & Jesus. Wow, just Wow. ~J9 | ||

Very interesting, Colleen...you are right. I mean, who wants to read the Bible when the GC is available?! It's similar to the advice given when "The Passion of the Christ" movie came out---don't watch the movie, just stay home and read The Desire of Ages! Adventism brainwashes people into believing that the Bible is just too hard to understand. And it's not the Kingdom of Light that substitutes a false prophet for the writings of true prophets and actual apostles. Accept no substitutes!! | ||

This is kind of off topic, but reading that made me think of an assembly we had at school one time where the speaker said that Mel Gibson probably read The Great Controversy and drew his vision of Lucifer being so involved in the events of the movie because where else can you find an example of Satan being so involved in what happens from moment to moment in the Bible than in The Great Controversy? I was like, seriously? O_O And that was before I had become a former. On a more on-topic note, I am rather perturbed by this "coincidence" you have mentioned, Colleen. I shouldn't be, given that I know that they hoist a different gospel onto a pedestal higher than that of the Bible. It's just seeing it so blatantly kind of makes my stomach a little queasy. | ||
