Here's hoping the Adventist Church is watching:

quote:

Why didn't Christ return on Oct. 21? It seems embarrassing for Family Radio. But God was in charge of everything. We came to that conclusion after quite careful study of the Bible. He allowed everything to happen the way it did without correction. He could have stopped everything if He had wanted to.

...Sometimes He gives us the truth and sometimes He gives us something that causes us to wait further upon Him.

Sounds so much like Ellen White's statement that God covered up the error on William Miller's charts. Blaming God for his own foolishness. This does not look like repentance to me.

Yeah, that phrase, "sometimes He gives us something that causes us to wait further upon Him." feels a bit slippery, as if God gave the original 1994, and May 2011 and October 2011 dates in the first place.

But I'm cutting him slack on this because I know from my own experience of repentance from Adventism that humility doesn't come all at once in a single heavenly IV infusion, it comes in jagged little pills that have to be swallowed over time.

In 1994 many SDA's had one eye on Harold Camping. I was one of them. Larry Wilson had published material stating the Jubilee Calendar would end that year and Camping had arrived at 94 as the second coming.

The bondage that grips the SDA denomination exists outside the church as well. Date setting, health message, Sunday sabbath, etc. are waiting for itching ears that want the inside track to the will of God. And they are not necessarily preached from the SDA pulpit.

So true. Heresy is not limited to SDA-ism, and repentance comes even to the most despicable (in our eyes). I'm not saying Camping is repenting here...but I don't have the power to know.

I do know that I must walk when the Lord Jesus opens a door...and I must refuse to indulge what seems satisfying or urgent if I haven't submitted it to Him.

Luke 21 says that people will say "the end is near" And not to follow them.
