Ric,

If this were Facebook I would click on the 'like' button. You sound like you are speaking from your long experience over on CARM.

PS
I just gave up posting on CARM and not really happy about Facebook either. This is the only place where I feel like I am among friends who really understand me...even those who have not met me face-to-face.

WOW i too am sincerely grateful for all of the effort put forth by you brave souls who work on untwisting the sda spin on what the Word really teaches. Galatiians and Romans are my two favorite books in the Bible. It is unbelievable to me that one can claim to do a Bible study and just fill in the blanks without ever opening the Bible!!!! Reminds me of a Bible "study" my father insisted i attend shortly after i was saved. The room had over 200 people and i was the only one there who had a Bible besides the catholic priest. We covered whole books of the Bible including Romans and Corinthians in two hours!!! Hardly an indepth study. i am always amazed at the looks on peoples faces when i pull out the Word and read what it really says as opposed to what they were taught it says.

Dear Phil,
i am glad to call you friend and glad to have met both you and your wife face to face. Please know that you are both in my heart and prayers. i know her many health problems are difficult and scary. His grace is sufficient, lean on Him and trust in His heart. Give Jan a hug for me.
love

Really I find that the majority of the time I'm bringing the focus of the Galatians study back to Galatians!

That in itself can be a bit tiring and frustrating in side to be entirely honest. Often times my commentaries tend to focus on what should be the topic rather than a wild goose chase of hopscotch theology.

Getting "on point" in love is what I try and accomplish- drawing people to the truth within Galatians.

Calling this Quarterly a study on Galatians is entirely disingenuous but entirely in keeping with the way Adventism has always shepherded it's flock.

All we can hope to do, all I try and do, is lead people to The Gate.

I love your four points, Phil. I understand the paralysis, Free...

I have to assume that each time I write SS commentary, I have to articulate the gospel again...and almost always, at least once each week I write, point out that we HAVE spirits which are born dead and must be made alive. ALL religious SDA discussion makes no sense because it's built on the false foundation that we are merely breathing flesh, and salvation is always about demonstrating our gratitude through right behavior.

Nothing makes sense unless one gets out of the SDA worldview, and that "nothing" includes talking about the gospel and talking about how to live as a Christ-follower.

The unspoken assumptions make every evangelical-sounding SDA phrase a lie.

Wonderful responses!

Praying for you both, Free2dance.

Gabriel, Phil & everyone else...your comments are SO helpful. Gabriel, explaining that the "lessons" don't have internal meanings really resonated. Maybe it's like trying to dynamite a mirage or something!

Yes, Colleen! The belief that we don't have spirits is necessary to SDAism. I see that more and more...who'd a thought?
