There is a very sad part of this case. If he is going to die as a martyr for Christ this would at least bring honor for God. Unfortunately this is not the case, and he will die for nothing, I would rather see him go back to islam and keep his life intact than die for a false Jesus.

See the following information about him found at this link

quote:

However, what might come as a shock to many evangelical believers is that "Pastor" Nadarkhani is actually one of the leaders in a growing cult in Iran, which is linked with the Oneness Pentecostalism (Jesus Only) cult, which is non-Trinitarian, believes in baptismal regeneration, and is very closely linked and supported by the United Pentecostal Churches outside of Iran. They greatly admire and follow the teachings of an American preacher, William M. Branham, who claimed to be the last of God's prophets on earth, that the doctrine of the Trinity is from the devil, and only those who are baptised in Jesus' name are saved.

quote:

Mr Nadarkhani, and his colleagues reject all other protestant churches as not being true churches. Moreover they teach, other classic errors of the Jesus Only cult, including speaking in tongues as the main sign of true salvation. In a recent TV interview by Press TV, Mr Nadarkhani confirmed some of his doctrinal beliefs, which clearly show that he is not an evangelical Christian, even though he speaks about trusting Jesus Christ. He clearly denies the evangelical doctrine of the Trinity.

You can watch the video online in which he explicitly rejects the Trinity. I'm sorry for him, if he will die, his death will not be in honor of Jesus Christ.

You're right, Jackob. Oneness Pentecostalism is a growing threat in countries we often think of as the "mission fields". It is one of the cults that Paul Carden mentions as especially problematic internationally.

A rather naive person, to put it politely...yall do want me to be polite...right?

Invited a group of oneness to my day room to hold a service.
As the service got underway I felt a troubling in my Spirit, so I ask the pastor of the group, "Are you oneness? He said, "Yes."

I said nothing further, but I had a case of the hebejeebies the whole time, and when the service was done I sent word in no uncertain terms that they would not be using my day room in future.

As the old country song goes, you got to stand for something or you will fall for anything.

Thanks Jacob for bringing this to our attention, you might say, "The rest of the story." So many times we don't get the full story.

That is so sad. With the fuller information we are now better prepared to pray for this man, his family, and for all involved. May God make Himself known to each one involved with this case, and may he work even this to His glory (saving the physical lives if that is His will, and more importantly bringing them to a saving relationship with Him)!

Amen, Helovesme2!

Thanks for the info, everyone. I heard this on the news before I had time to do research on it.
