Thought I'd post another example of the deception used to familiarize the community with SDAism, which eventually leads to converting them to the SDA organization.

Article in this week's newspaper tells of the "valuable seminar on nutrition held at the ____ Health Center Auditorium". The couple running the seminar gave "a powerful lecture" on the importance of a healthful diet and "then the two demonstrated 15 tasty and healthy recipes". Twenty people attended. "Come and enjoy better health with a better diet. The seminar is given in English with translation into Spanish. The public is welcome." It's being held for 3 more Sundays @ the "Health Care Auditorium".

Nowhere is it mentioned that the "Healthcare Auditorium" is the Spanish SDA church in our town.

Also, when people arrive for the seminar, they will see that the permanent sign on the exterior of the church says "Health Center".

Oh, Nowisee...these things are so frustrating. The deception should be a huge red flag to people when they find out that they've stumbled into an Adventist program. Even though the "revelation" doesn't happen until days into it, the fact that they were deceived up front SHOULD be a warning.

The Health Message has its merits, as it has helped many people become healthier. Yet there is also so much legalism that often comes with it. And yes, some people end up joining the church over it. The SDA church I have my membership in (name not off the books yet) has a couple who joined through the cooking school.
