Is there such a place in Fresno County where former Adventist can meet like they do in Redlands.

So whats to keep you some of you like minded in that area from meeting? Do you have to replicate Redlands? Is Redlands the promised land or something? I pretty sure Richard and his wife are close by there.

Theres restaurants and I'm just pretty sure theres available churches, or do you feel that two or three don't count?

Not what my Bible says. :-)
You fell into that one nicely Skeeter. :-)

First of all River, I don't know of ANY former adventist in my area. Why do you have to be so accusitory, what is your problem? I am simply looking for fellowship with people in my area that understand what I am going through, which you are oblivious being that you are a never been. Thanks for you support!

Well gee, you don't have to be so touchy! I didn't mean anything derogatory towards you.

I was simply saying that there might be someone in the surrounding areas that would be happy to get together with you.

Now does that call for you getting mad at me and going off the deep end? Jiminy snickers!

Yes I did get mad and I aplogize. I took your post as sarcastic, which still doesn't excuse my response. I do attend church on a regular basis, but no one understands my background and it makes it harder for me to undo that damage and/or brainwashing instilled in me.

Again, I apologize. Have a good day

I'm so sorry it sounded like I was being sarcastic, not meant that way at all and my full sympathies are with you.

There's Skeeter and she might be willing to drive over. Its a real joy to get together with others who do understand and I do understand.

Look, I've driven 200 miles twice, set up meeting places in restaurants twice, made lifelong friends and its a joy to get together with them.

I well understand that no one understands your back ground, because when I got tangled up with former Adventists it put me in virtually the same spot. No one understands why I care, not my wife, not my kids, no one.

What I'm saying is, just keep working at it, have faith and it'll happen. :-)

There used to be a very active former sda group in fresno. Of course, I have been away from that area for over 20 gryears. Do some research withm the phone book. Call all the groups that list a Saturday meetings. Try to track down Rev. Ron Torrano and/or Valley Community Church.

Welcome, Punababe! Or should I say, welcome back!

I think part of the issue here is that people are looking for a group of former Adventists who are not necessarily a church and who are not Sabbatarians.

But it's good to see you, Punababe!

Punababe808, welcome to FAF. Tell us about how God took you out of adventism so long ago, if I am understanding you correctly.

Got told off ruthlessly so have seen lurking ever since. In fact, you any colleen and one other person were the only ones to comprehend what I was trying to convey. You and me are actually good friends. I will contact you and let you know My identity.

I have been kinda hit and miss on here for a while (mostly miss) so I have missed a lot of conversations....
Shelly 68, where in Fresno county are you ?
I used to go to Fresno fairly often to see my mom when she was in an assisted living facility there, but she is now living with us, so I haven't gotten over there in a long time.
We now live on the coast but lived in Fresno County and attended churches in Kerman, Fresno Central,Sanger and Orosi also Grants Grove (Sequoia park) in the summers.
My MIL is a member at the Sanger SDA church, I had my membership transferred from Orosi to Morro Bay when we moved over here, and had my name removed from the books a little over a year ago.
It would be great if you could find a group of "formers" in your area. I havent found any here, but have not actively looked.
I attend a non denominational church in Los Osos (near Morro Bay) and was re baptized March 18th of this year.
For "former fellowship" I depend on this group and more recently a few groups on Facebook.
If you are on Facebook I would be happy to add you to a couple of great groups on there if you would like :-) You can contact me by email if you wish.

Dear Francie, what a small world we live in. I grew up in a rural area swoutheast of Fresno. Went to Fresno Adventist Academy a few years as a kid. them MBA for one year. Graduated from Reedley College, then CSUF. Anyway, I attended Fresno Central SDA sporatically, the Caruthers SDA alot as well as the World Wide Church of God in Fresno, the Seventh day Church of God, The Church of God (Seventh day), yes, those are two different denominations, and the Brimsmead group that met up by Coarsegold on Saturdays. Wow! so, you are in Los Osos, Valley of the Bears. I lived in Grover for 20 years until relocating to Puna recently. And, Colleen, sorry about the crass grammer I used in my above post. It won't happen again. I just today read your posting policy about approiate language.

Welcome Punababe808! :-)

It's true that someone who isn't saved would be better off as a Mormon/SDA/Catholic/JW if they have tendencies toward alcoholism; but only in this life. When Jesus comes back, they'd be exactly in the same "boat" as all other unsaved people.

Have you noticed though, how much better it is having a relationship with Jesus than it is to have a good life with lots of things such as an expensive house/car/boat? We were built for an intimate relationship with God! But we never knew it before we were saved!

That reminds me of a man who ended up paralyzed in a hospital - I think they call it "locked-in syndrome." Anyway, he felt as if he were in a huge fallen suit of armor, running here and there shouting for anyone to hear him, but nobody could. Later, when he was well again and up and about, he commented that everybody is ultimately alone. Obviously he was not a Christian. I don't know how non-Christians can stand going through this life, because without God, they are ultimately alone. Christians are not alone! :-)

Punababe808, actually I live in Cambria. I attend church in Los Osos. I grew up in a small farming town about 30 miles from Fresno, and lived near the Sequoia park for about 15 years before moving here. Our children went to Reedley HS, our oldest went to MBA for only one semester before we brought him back home, my husband, his brother and one sister attended MBA a couple of years.
My sister (never SDA) lives near Coarsegold (between Coarsegold and Oakhurst)so I am very familiar with that area as well.
