To my fAF family. I'd like to request your prayers for my father. As a result of me becoming a Christian, he began to study the Scriptures himself, to see what his son was "all up about". Over the last 2 1/2 years I have shared with him many things we at fAF all talk about, Materials by Pastors Martin, Ratzlaff & Canright and he reads Proclamation magazine! The Holy Spirit is now calling him out of Adventism but he is under pressure from my mom and his sisters there in Redlands, Loma Linda. He will be out of town and returning the first week of September. Upon his return his sister and my mother want him to meet with the Associate Pastor from Campus Hill to have a "study" to which he has agreed based on his ground rules and conditions. I was worried at first and I spoke with him to discern his reason and after speaking with him he said it is to let them all know why he no longer shares the SDA doctrine, EGW, Sabbath, IJ, etc. based on soli Scriptura and that they can either choose to believe the Truth with him or stay as Adventists. He is a strong man with a forensic mind but I know it is not a battle of flesh and blood but "against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Please pray for the Holy Spirit to overcome him and be his teacher and guide as well as for the rest of my family still in the shadows. Thank you! (Message edited by wiredog on August 15, 2011) | ||

Praying that your Dad stays strong and the Holy Spirit guides his mind and his words in the meeting. Personally.. if I were him I would make sure I were meeting ONLY with the pastor and not let them send in the "troops" to try and overwhelm him with words of confusion. They should keep it a one on one discussion. It will be interesting... maybe your Dad can plant some seeds in this pastors mind and heart.  Praying. Francie | ||

We will pray, Ben. Why don't you suggest that he visit FAF on Friday night? If he goes to Campus Hill Church, he may know MartinC from the forum, the same Martin who write for Proclamation. He also went to Campus Hill with his wife, and they know many of those pastors as well. Your dad could chat with them at FAF. Your dad would find great support and people who would pray at FAF. Thank you all. I know the Lord knows my concerns for my family and He hears all your prayers. It is all I can lean on. Colleen, I have even suggested that before meeting with the Campus Hill pastor that he visit Trinity and join the fAF Study on Friday nights and gain strength. Campus Hill is where is sister attends but I believe my father and mother go wither to LLUC or LL Filipino. If he did go, he would be going by himself as this issue of religion has become a wedge at home. He is considering it and I pray he goes to find support and strength he will need. Ben | ||

I heard a sad thing last night. An SDA cousin down in Gresham, OR called to let me know his older sister is in a coma in the Portland Adventist Hospital and not expected to recover. Her mother, one of my favorite aunts, just died a couple years ago. On the bright side, the cousin who called me said he didn't believe all of what SDAs teach and knew his sister "would be with the Lord" if she dies, which seems likely as they must decide soon on when to "pull the plug".
