Jan is much better but still in the hospital. The hope is that she will be able to return home tomorrow.

Jan didn't get to come home and is still in the hospital fighting a bug she seems to have picked up there. The kids and I will be taking our Christmas celebration to her this morning.

We, meaning me, kids and grandkids met in Jan's hospital room and unwrapped presents. Then the doctor showed up and said Jan could go home. So, here we met at home for Christmas supper. Life is good again. It even snowed so things are white outside. Meanwhile, I have three days of work and then I will be fully retired and able to look after Jan's needs a whole lot better. One grandson is staying over until the weekend to keep an eye on grandma while I'm gone.

Sure good to have family.

A better 2013 is certainly at the top of my personal prayer list.

Just for background information Jan spent five days in the hospital and was released Christmas day afternoon. Then on last Friday early morning she was transported back to emergency with what could have (but not) been a heart attack.

Anyway, now for today:

We made it to an appointment of hers in Bremerton (right across from the hospital) with the help of friends and their van. Right after that we had plans to go out to lunch and get ready for her next doctor’s visit but never made. When she stepped up with one foot on the running board and the other foot still on the curb she lost her strength and dropped to my left knee. We simply could not hold her or get her back up so she dropped all the way to the ground with both legs in twisted angles and all her weight on them. A security guard tried to help but we could not move her so I called 911. It took four paramedics to lift her back onto her walker and roll her over to their ambulance gurney. They then transported her to Emergency right across the street. RTs and CTs showed she didn’t get hurt in falling to the pavement. We found out she meets all the requirements to qualify going to a rehab center so she is there now and could be there as much as twenty days to regain her strength. What a day!

Ate supper at the Boat House, came home, fed Hooch and now I can finally relax a little. I will be asleep long before the New Year arrives.

Ohh Phil, I am so sorry for this. Praying for you and Jan.
Father God, you know what happened to Jan. I thank you that there are no broken bones. Be with her and Phil. May others see Jesus love in them.
In the awesome name of Jesus I ask this.
Amen

Oh, Phil...I am so, so sorry. Is her loss of strength related to the infection she had in her leg? It is a blessing that she qualified for the rehab hospital. With her being that weak, it would have been a danger to her and a nearly insurmountable burden for you to care for her. I know that my mother's two rehab stays were HUGE blessings, and she recovered well both times.

Know that I am praying. You are a blessing, Phil.

Yes Colleen,

Her stay for five days with the leg infection goes back a year ago when she received the leg injury. The hospital stay is what qualified her Medicare wise for the rehab hospital.

Of all things, I woke up this morning with a sore throat and other flu-like symptoms so I’ve been home resting all day. Sure glad she isn’t here to get sick along with me on top of all the other things she is dealing with.

Even Hooch misses her. A short time ago I lay down with him and comforted him. He was quivering and whimpering. He also wants her home. Not fun around here for any of us without her. Most of all we want her well.

I have a prayer request for a friend, that her son get saved and that he find a lasting job. Please pray about that, okay? He's been without a job for a long time and is now at the point of despair.
