Thank you all for your prayers. I am going to call a Christian clinic to see if they will help me with counseling. I made the wrong choices in the past and basically committed career suicide, I have to live with the consequences, under employed/unemployed for over a decade, that takes a mental toll. One look at my resume and people think I am a flake, someone they do not want to hire, that is why I feel so hopeless. I have blown the opportunities that God gave me, how can I expect God to help me.

Kiki,

Even though your circumstances are no doubt very different from mine this is something I know how to pray for….so that is what I’m doing.

In 1989 I also committed "career suicide" and I was extremely angry at the world even though I was the cause of all my troubles. My first constructive response was to go out into the surrounding woods where I live, cut and split several years’ worth of fire wood before my mind settled down. The Lord gave me something totally different than what I thought I was qualified for. Twenty-two years, eight months and three weeks later I retired on January first with peace within my soul that the Lord has something even better planned for the future. This, of itself, assures me the Lord has special plans for you also.

By the way, good counseling is a positive step in the right direction. It certainly was a factor in my own growth. Even though it was secular ‘group therapy’ in design it was the foundation for making constructive biblical changes in my thinking and how I live. This is when I finally realized how much my SDA upbringing had affected my inner being far deeper than I might have discovered otherwise.

Your brother in Christ,

Phil

Kiki; there's a saying: "God helps those who help themselves," but it isn't from the Bible. That's man's saying; man who's always trying to prove their worthiness to God.

I think all of us who've been in a cult such as Adventism can say that we've "blown the opportunities God gave" us; because we've all had the Bible growing up, yet remained Adventist until God rescued us. Both the Bible and history are full of stories of people who had blown the opportunities God gave them, yet God rescued them!

Thank you Phil and Asurprise. Being an SDA certainly did not help, it killed the few opportunities that I had to have a good job, the interviews were over as soon as I said sabbath, I did not mind, I thought I was doing what God wanted. I need a miracle now.

God can do what looks impossible to us :-)....

Something our pastor said yesterday: "In times of trial, just do the next right thing." He is going thru a horrible trial right now, so this wasn't just theory. His whole sermon was on "Suffering" and he dealt with the real issues of suffering....it was awesome. I hope someone more computer literate than me will post a link to it on the public forum....

I am requesting prayer today as my husband is in the ICU where they have intibated him as a precautionary measure as he has had difficulty breathing due to a pneumonia that they believe they are treating.
I have come to this forum because I don't think anyone else understands. I am 4th generation, Father was in GC, brother minister and I have taken the steps to transition for the pass couple of years. It seems the more I study life began more difficult in some ways but I have truly seen Gods blessings. I just have this guilt that I am being punished. My precious husband is a never been, PTL! I know this is irrational thinking but this is the only place I think people would understand. This forum has been my life line for the past 2-3 years and I thank you for it. I am wondering has anyone else felt this way? Through all of this I have seen Gods hand in that we got a offer for out home last week, out of the blue, b/c we moved from Oregon back to the East coast for a job. Anyway I know I am rambling on but would appreciate your prayers and wisdom.

The hospital Chaplin came to ask if I would like a visit. This was the very first time I have ever had a pastoral visit. I opened up to the Chaplin about my dilemma. I felt Gods was in the room as she ministered to my broken soul.

I'm praying for your husband and for you too, Grace. I think God is in the process of healing all of us who've come out of a false religion!

Grace, I just saw this. I'm praying. How is your husband? Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In Him all guilt is gone. He became sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor 5:21).

You are already seated with Him at the right hand of the Father, and in Him every single blessing of God is yours.

My husband was just taken to surgery. All though I am alone today because my SDA family is in denial about life etc. I have come to a peace between my ups and downs. My husband knows The Lord in a real way and is ready to go should it be his time. He has had no fear in all of this except when they were taking him to surgery he told me goodbye and started to cry. It broke my heart. If this was the final goodbye, I praise God for giving it to me. They were not able to whine him off of the O2 so he has been intibated the whole time in a light sleep. The surgery is there only option. I am praising God for his goodness even as my heart is breaking.

Grace,

It truly saddens my heart to hear your earthly family is not with you today, but please know you have a family of believers in Christ who are praying for you and lifting you up to the Father. You are not alone...

Grace~

You may be at the hospital alone, but you are not alone in the spiritual sense~

You and your husband are being carried on my heart
and in my prayers~

"The LORD is my portion, says my soul,
therefore I hope in Him!" Lamentations 3:24.

"I AM also the FATHER who comforts you in all your troubles." 2Corintheins 1: 3-4.

Remember the LORD is the great Healer~ of bodies and spirits.
HE is with you now, and will never leave you.
HE is Faithful, you can trust HIM.

I want to thank everyone who is praying for us. The doctor just let me know he had a successful operation. He is back in his room. I called family a little while ago and God opened up the door for me to witness. The family member said that maybe they would be willing to study the Bible and the Bible alone. I suggested using the Sabbth School Lesson as a starting point since they teach a class. They said no because they don't agree with the lesson most of the time. So at least the door may be opened. Nevertheless I used the opportunity to "come out" something my husband has said I needed to do to become a more authentic and honest person. He was leaving it up to me but he felt I have not truly "come out "unless I tell the whole family. I have told some and of course the word gets out but the folks who needed to hear it had not heard. I look forward to sharing this news with him. God is good!

My husbands breathing tube was removed this afternoon and we are praising God for his healing power. He remains in the ICU for now. During the many hours here at the hospital I was able to use the time for Bible study and watching the FAF utube presentations. It gave me time to prepare for discussions with family and a couple of SDA friends. It truly has been an unexpected blessing.
