Thank you all for your prayers and comments, I feel more peace these days, even though nothing has changed.
I was close to death as a child and as an adult many times fell asleep at the wheel but nothing happened to me, if indeed it was God's caring, I certainly do not feel favored since I am not an example of success. I will take it by faith as you all said, that God wants it this way.

Kiki, oh, my prayers are sure with the Lord to help you through this. I truly do understand the hard reality of what you are facing. Your name in Hawaiian means child or children. It is spelled keiki but pronounced the same. Please, everyone keep my younger sons extremely special needs in your prayers. God knows the situation. Ask God for justice and truth to come out concerning Punababe808's son. Please, if you can. Life has been very emotionally difficult recently. Thanks

It was back in May that I thought I had strained my back and had to stop my remodeling projects one of which is the removal and blanking off of two roof jacks. Fortunately I have everything well covered up there as I haven’t been up there since. My primary doctor sent me to physical therapy which was doing absolutely no good.

By the middle of June I awaken one morning unable to walk because of massive stabbing pain all over the left upper leg along with numbing pain in the lower back. Was taken to Emergency and had an MRI which showed there was a pinched nerve and crushed disc in the lower back in the spine. They put me on all kinds of pills and sent me to an orthopedic surgeon.

Yesterday was surgery. I had a 12 noon check in time. Unfortunately the surgeon spent all afternoon working on an emergency operation. They didn’t take me out of the pre-op room until well after 8 pm. Can’t say much about what came next until around 11 pm when I found myself in the Recovery Room with a dry mouth and lots of pain. Got home around 1 am. Last night wasn’t one of my better times. Right now I am praising God and the skill of the surgeon.

I am able to sit here at the computer but it will be several days before I can get back on my projects. I have two concerns aside from physical recovery. One is to look after Jan’s needs. Our friends and neighbors are looking after both Jan and myself.

The other is completing Week Seven of the Quarterly commentary. I have the rough draft done but there is a lot of editing to do. Mainly I need to get off the drugs that have my brains cells a bit fogged up.

Praising our Savior always.

Phil--I'm glad, though you have had some misery, that at least you know exactly what was wrong. I'm very glad you're through surgery which was done by a skilled surgeon. Please take care & let yourself recover...I just know that your neighbors & friends are happy to give you a hand.

Wow, my brain fogs up over those SS commentaries & it has nothing to do with pain meds (ha ha)! Remember, Colleen is an excellent editor...

I thank God you got your surgery & also for the help & healing He is now giving you.

This is the second day after surgery and stiffness has set in. So I have to make this short and get off the computer.

Well, now that the post op hard part is over I'm finally experiencing a ‘normal’ good day. For one thing, it doesn’t hurt to sit in front of the computer now. Doing the final editing for Week Seven commentary was a real challenge. There is one other med that I’m still on which has my brain a bit fuzzy. As soon as I can get off of it I can reclaim my life….and do my own driving.

This morning I was able to do a full breakfast of homemade pancakes, fruit, bacon and eggs for Jan and myself along with coffee from beans I was able to roast yesterday. Sure good to get back to normal country living.

PS
My surgeon is considered the very best orthopedic surgeon in the whole area. So much so he was called to do an emergency surgery that lasted all afternoon of the day I was scheduled. My check in time was 12 noon. When free to do so he came by and explained what had happened. Even so, I wasn’t next. They finally rolling into surgery a little past eight pm. Didn’t get home until a little past one am. Jan was pretty much on her own for breakfast that morning. However, we have the best next doors neighbors in the world. They were and still are looking after all our needs.

On the praise side of things tomorrow I get my stiches out and hopefully allowed to return to doing normal work related activities which means tonight is the last ‘spit bath’ shower. Of course my energy level is way down since I have not done much since the pinched nerve waylaid me last May.

On the concern side of things Jan injured another toe and it has swollen about three times normal size so she will be seeing her podiatrist at the same time I’m at the orthopedic surgeons clinic. Since one toe (first joint) has already been amputated this is a real concern if what appears to be an infection isn’t quickly brought under control.
