Asurprise,

Go to 'Help/Instructions' at the bottom of the screen and scroll down. It will show you how.

The podiatrist didn't like the look of Jan's toe as well as the rest of the foot so he put her in the hospital. Surgery looks likely.

Jan is home after spending four days in the hospital. Surgery wasn't needed but she isn't out of the woods just yet. Tomorrow I get trained to administer an antibiotic twice a day via a catheter (called a PICC) that goes from her arm to the main vein next to the heart. Sure not something I ever expected to be doing.

I know you'll do a good job of helping Jan, & sending prayers your way as you care for her after your own surgery. So glad she didn't lose her toe!

The podiatrist examined Jan's toe today (x-rays) and concluded the infection is in the end joint (bone) of the toe. This means another amputation which is scheduled for next Monday. The 'good news' is the soft tissue seems to be healing up ok.

The amputation went off as planned today and Jan is home. The podiatrist said he was able to remove all the infected bone and he expects her be ok. In the meantime I'm still giving her antibiotic injections through a PICC line. Two of our grandsons came home with us to help look after their grandmother.

Praising God for all his goodness because on Wednesday we get to celebrate our 47th anniversary here at home instead of in the hospital.

It is time I update my FAF family on what is going on here, mostly concerning my wife’s health. She has just recovered from her second toe amputation. She recently had her diuretic medications more than doubled which deplete a person’s potassium which is what has happened so she’s in the hospital getting potassium IV drips.

When she is stable and all the preliminary requirements are complete, she will then be looking to have bariatric surgery to get her weight under control followed later by another surgery for correcting an abdominal hernia.

I have recovered from my own back surgery very well. Having Jan in the hospital has given me a chance to rest for a day or two from being a 24/7 care giver.

Oh, Phil...I've been wondering. I'm so sorry about Jan, but I am thankful God has given you a time of rest. He knew you both needed it.

Prayers will continue, Phil. You are a treasure to us.
