Jan is still in the hospital receiving potassium in an IV. As of yesterday she had eight bags (and four more planned for today) and her potassium level still isn't up to where it should be. While she is now off of the diuretics they need to be purged from her system before her potassium will stabilize.

What troubles me is that when the diuretics were increased I asked about the potassium and was told by the doctor not to worry about that. Even though I'm far from being a doctor I had reason to be concerned and should have been told what to watch out for.

Phil, I agree. There should be SOMEONE there whom you can ask...and preferably the doc. But it doesn't sound as if he's helping you in that area much...

Is there a nurse you could talk to? Someone to ask to explain what's going on and what you should do or watch for>

Praying.

Since my last posting here I talked with the doctor at the hospital. That doctor also doesn't understand the logic of putting her on diuretics only to include another med to get her blood pressure back up and then not paying attention to her potassium or warn me what the possible side effects might be. The doctor also assured me that a full report would be sent to the cardiologist clinic. Since this clinic is owned by the hospital our regular visit there next week portends to be interesting.

PS
And, here is a praise….her potassium level is now up where it should be and Jan gets to come home tomorrow.

Thank you Awesome God.
I also like your beard. You look a little different.
I will continue to pray for both of you.

((Hugs)) for you & Jan. Praying for strength for you as you care-give & watch over her treatment...praying for her to keep improving & for wise docs & nurses.

I was going to say whether you're a Dr. or not, it never hurts to question staff if something isn't making sense...then I thought, "If you were a Dr., you'd be "Dr. Phil"!! : )

Please pray for my family. We've had one thing right after the other to deal with, for some time now. And I'm not talking minor setbacks; these are life-altering tragic occurrences one right after the next.

Some days I think I am being tested, and other days I feel as though my whole family is being punished for every wrong thing I've ever done, or even thought of doing. But then, I don't really think God operates that way does He??

Just very overwhelmed right now. Please pray for us.

Thank you.

Anewstart, I just saw this; I'm praying for you. It is so tumultuous going through the transition out of Adventism. There's so much loss and pain and adjustment.

God is faithful; He holds us together and is our peace. He really never leaves us!

Anewstart, I'm praying for you.

If everyone could keep the Premiere of my Film on Thursday Night in your prayers that would be fantastic.

God Bless.

I posted this yesterday on Facebook:

Our next door neighbors, Mike and Judy have been close friends of ours for many many years. They are the kind of Christians who have always gone out of their way to help others in many kinds of difficult situations.

I am asking prayer for Judy. She appears to be seriously ill but the diagnosis isn’t in yet. A number of test have been performed with more testing to come. Lately Judy hasn’t been able swallow food properly with the tests so far showing there is some kind of blockage in her throat. Her energy level is way down which is way not normal for her.

This evening Mike came over and gave us this update:

There is a lump which is cancerous (carcinoma) in the area of Judy’s esophagitis which the doctor says has been caught in time to take corrective action. I'm not sure exactly what that means but is does sound like there is treatment available for this.

I’m requesting prayer for our neighbors especially for Judy’s recovery.

Phil, praying for your neighbor, Judy…

Anewstart ~ I don't know the details, but I feel your heart. The past 5 years have been like that for me too. I will lift you up in prayer, as I know how important it is to feel the presence of God during these times...

Just returned from a visit with Judy. The doctors say her cancer has spread throughout her body. If nothing done they say she has four to five months. If treated they say she could last up to 10 or 11 months. Even though it isn't a cure she says she'll opt for treatment. In the mean time she is resting in the Lord and not a bit depressed with this medical diagnosis.

Praising God and praying always,

Phil

I love her attitude and that she is resting in the Lord. She knows where she will end up and I am so thankful for that. I will continue praying for her.
