Physically Judy isn’t doing well. Because of the nature of the cancer she isn’t able to eat anything other than small amounts of soft foods or hold it down well. This cancer is very aggressive. Mentally she is alert, articulate and very much aware of what is happening to her. Spiritually Judy has total peace that she may soon be with the Lord. Mike is the one who is especially in need of prayer. Phil | ||

About eight years or so Mike’s step mother who lived back behind us in a log A-frame home and once owned all this property we now live on had a stroke and went into a coma. Rather than putting her into an long term care facility they volunteered to care for her in their home with hospice assistance. So, they set up a hospital bed in their living room where his step mother lived for over two years or so before she finally passed away. This is one of the many examples of what Mike and Judy have done for others all of their married life as dedicated Christians. Anyway, this afternoon I helped Mike take the hospital bed out of stowage and reset it up in their living room. But, this time it is for Judy. There is much much more to Judy’s story. She was born and grew up into her teen years in Redlands, California. What happened next and how she finally ended up in Washington State and meeting Mike makes for a real amazing story I cannot begin to share here. Jan and I are very privileged to be their neighbors. But then they sold us the property we live on at a time we also were very much in need of help. Any time, including now, anyone who meets and visits with Mike and Judy become very aware they are with those who love the Lord in a very practical daily way and go away blessed simply having been with them. Just a quick message here to let my friends here know that our next door neighbor and friend of many years, Judy, passed into on into the arms of our Savior early this morning and is no longer in pain. Please pray for Mike as he is now without his mate. Phil | ||

Thanks everyone for your prayers. Tomorrow will be the memorial service for Judy. She will be missed dearly but there is great joy knowing she no longer suffers and is resting in peace with our Savior. | ||

The memorial service for Judy was very uplifting. Even with the sadness of parting there was great joy. One of her brothers shared their early life on a farm outside of Redlands where they lived in a travel trailer without electricity or running water. (What wasn't mentioned is that their father literally abandoned them when they were very young by hitching up their trailer and disappearing with all their things.) The place was packed with family and friends. One couple came all the way from Spokane to be here and headed right back home because they had Sunday School classes to teach the next day. That night Mike had supper with us and shared how it was his prayer to the Lord to give him the wife he needed instead of the one he originally thought would be the right choice. Judy was the perfect answer. Mike’s story growing up was just as hard as Judy’s and they were a perfect match. Numerous friends have been with him every day so he’s not been alone at least during the day. Fearless Phil | ||
