Yep, one of the things he leaves out on his advertisements is that his programs teach SDA'ism. If you order his Bible studies you won't find out he's connected to the SDA church until about the tenth lesson---and after you've had a chance to read Great Controversy and Desire of Ages.

Doug is real popular in the SDA church. He was a 'Caveman' for a while back in the seventies---he was a wild, hippy type kid that lived in a cave in the mountains above Palm Springs. Eventually converted to Adventism and is now one of their leading evangelists. The last time I heard, he was based out of Sacramento.

Annoying Facts? That about sums it up in one neat package!!

African, we will be praying for you. Hope you will take advantage of every opportunity the Lord presents to get on the Internet at a friends house to post a message and let us know how things are going with you.

Great summary! Another one of their preachers they promote is Joe Crews. He has a booklet (one of many) titled: Why the old covenant failed. Just a few paragraphs in he has in bold type: THE TEN COMMANDMENTS - NOT THE OLD COVENANT. I am currently in an email conversation with the corespondentfor Amazing Facts. They tell me they don't know for sure what Joe Crews meant by that as he died in 1980. Can you believe that as a response???? But they continue to sell his twisted gospel. I sent them the following texts in their entirety;
..He gave to Moses..upon Mt Sinai, the two tables of the testimony, tables of stone...Exodus 31:18

He wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments...Exodus 34:28

...his covenant...the ten commandments...upon two
tables of stone. Deuteronomy 4:13

...the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant... Deuteronomy 9:11

...the two tables of the covenant...Deut 9:15

the words of the covenant...Deut 29:1

the two tables of stone...a covenant with the people of Israel...1Kings 8:9

a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD...1Kings 8:21

Now the first covenant had:
an earthly sanctuary
the gold covered ark of the covenant
the stone tablets of the covenant...
applying UNTIL the time of the new order.
Hebrews 9:1-10

How plain is that? However their last response to me referred me to the SDA's Believe and some guy,
N.J. Bowers who has listed 12 reasons why the ten are not of the old covenant. I haven't replied yet, but I don't recall that Bowers fellow as being inspired in the Bible or in the SDA's 27.
I'm going to ask the corespondent to refer my questions to Doug B. pretty soon if they can't give me Bible references.

If any of you have extra time (probably a waste) and want a copy of their baloney, I'd be happy to forward the emails.

Anyway, my opinion is don't waste your time watching anything to do with Amazing Fables.

I agree, RKYMTNHI, no need to bother with "Atrocious Fabrications." I used to watch it just to get a good laugh. Now, I switch away immediately, should I happen to see it.

Godís blessings on you and your family, African. I think ìThe White Lieî would be a good gift for your retired pastor and trainee.

African, Praying for you! Hope you can keep us updated somehow...Blessings to you.

I have INSP on my cable and they carry that abnoxious facts show, I wrote to them about a month ago and explained that this was false information and this man is SDA and he is not evangelical. They haven't written back. He's on another show I think too. He doesn't even LOOK Christian, ya know what I mean? So arrogant and condescending.

I'm requesting prayer for my friend Arleta. She is not in good shape and is my most cherished friend. She is 86 years old and I'm asking the Lord to Comfort her with HIS Peace in these last days of hers.

Please pray for her. She is a special child of God and a SDA who focuses on Jesus Christ. My mentor of almost 4 years now and calls me daughter.

Thank you,

Denise Gilmore, in mourning

Thank you for listening and your prayers.

Re: Doug Bachler: My mom realy likes this guy. He is one of SDA's CROWN JEWELS. I say this because they will refer to him to the end of the rainbow to PROVE that God can bring a lost soul from the depths of sin and stonerness into THE TRUTH. In fact, D.B. will even use himself s that example. As far as the Amazing Facts lessons go, you an read them on-line. Go to the official SDA website and then to plubications and scroll down until you get to Amazing Facts. I have several in my moms car that I picked up here at the SA church. The one that is intended to convince everyone to not eat the unclean meats even mentions the desieses that can be contacted from eating certain meats and shellfish. However, even slmanilla can be contacted from vegetables that have been contamiated so the A.F. arguement just doesn't get me indroctinated. BTW, even though I don't believe it is wrong to eat pork, tc. I just can't bring myself to do so (well, a little pepperoni on the pizza once in a while) because that meat stuff was so extremely drilled into me as a kid!

No Way! In fat here's what I ate yesterday-toat with btter & jelly and juice for breakfast. For luch stirfy vegetables with brown rice and tofu an juice and for supper (gag!) a Taco Bell something, but at least it had grilled peppers and onions in it. Here's a true story: My 27 year old son was doing a stint in the state penetentury. Every Friday afternoon my elderly dad and me would drive to the prison to see my son. He was in around 16 months so we made alot of trips over there. One week during our visit my dad asked my son if they ever served pork to the inmates My boy told his grandfather that yes, they do. And my dad leaned over at the table and said, "You would never eat that would you"? My boy assurred his grandpa that never would let pork touch his lips and for the entire drive home I listened my dad tell me what a good boy my son and how proud he was of my son was because he was continuing to live by the truth that he was raised in and it must be hard to do what's right in prison. I nearly choaked! My son was in there for possession of stolen property, which he intended to sell to support his drug addiction. Yet, my dad never let my sons drug addiction bother him. And, now a true story about me. About 20 years ago I was getting all grossed out because a piece of pork ended up on my plate. My friend asked me how come LSD freeks don't bother me but pork on my plate does. Then she asked me if I thought it was worse to pop acid or eat a ham sandwich. I told her dreffinatelly the ham was more wrong! She wanted to know why I thought that. I told her one could loose eternl life because of the pork but nowhere in the Bible did it say not to pop acid. Thank-you, Jesus for your patience with me and your grace. Wow! I sure have changed my mind on some things. But, I still like tofu and I won't touch pork, I just don't view eating pork as a sin anymore.

What are some of the other TV or radio shows that are Adventist or other preachers that are in the main stream that you know of. This subject fascinates me. I also was watching a show on TBN that was a Seventh Day Adventist show. I can't remember what is was called? But it is on at 12:30p central time on Sunday. I think it was called "It was written" or something like that. It is much tammer than "Amazing Facts" I wounder does TBN understand really what the SDA Church is all about by having them on there network? Any other story's on this topic would be great. Also what is the first thing usually the SDA show you to get you to think thay are evangilical and just like one of the rest of the churchs that are out there? Why do you think that the SDA or legalistic movements are so popular in the last 10 years or so? I will also have hopefully a praise report in a few days about my delimma. Thanks for all your prayers.

Hi, Speakeasy! There's "It Is Written", "Faith For Today", on radio there is, "The Quiet Hour" and anything on t.v. or radio that features Mark Findley, Doug Bachlor, Morri Vendon, Morris Vandeman (he passed away last year but they might do reruns). You can log on to the official SDA website and link to media and find all their programs, times and stations. Then there is the 3 Angels Broadcast Network. Fortunatelly we don't get that here. The SDA denomination will generally start of their seminars with Jesus. Then they get into their interpertation of Daniel & Reaation. Around the second to the last meeting they will get into the weekly Sabbath. I think a lot of these really strict, controlling churches are gaining a lot of converts because people want to be told the rules. If people have to think for themselves and make moral decisions that takes more effort on their part than having an authority over them telling them what they can and cannot do. But, really IS the SDA church gaining members in the Western lands? I realize in the really poverty stricken lands it may be practical for a family to be SDA because they would get food for their family and education for the children, but in this country one needn't be SDA to have those things. Just some of my thoughts & opinions.

The latest Poll numbers that I saw show that the SDA church grew just about 2 percent in the decade from 90 - 2000, still with fewer than a million members in the U.S. That certainly is not a sign of great popularity, when some denominations grew 15 - 20 percent or more during the same time.

Still requesting prayers for Arleta. Thank you Sabra and Janet, those that have replied.

Colleen, you and Richard have met Arleta, please pray for her and have your Church prayer for her will you?

To all, this thread is titled "Prayer." I humbly submit to you that this should be focused on prayer.

In Christ,

Denise Gilmore, weep with those who weep.

Thank you Colleen and Richard. Would you also request that your Church (of where I have been and know it is of God), pray for Arleta also?

Also, thank you for praying for me, I hadn't thought of that.

In Christ,

your sister forever, Denise
