Today was surgery day for the repair of the tendon on my right knee. Things went well and I'm home feeling great...so far.

For those who knew about this thanks for your prayers. Now, the issue is how to be nice to those around me when the pain shows up. I have lots of pain killer but don't seem to need it yet.

Since is not a case of where the rule of 'no pain no gain' applies I will be strictly following doctor's orders. Right now there a knee immobilizer on the knee preventing any bending of the knee.

praying that you heal fast and comfortable..

I've been told that it is important to KEEP AHEAD OF THE PAIN in situations like this...

playing catch up with the pain meds is uncomfortable....

OH-Ya... if you are taking the T3 with codeine the side effect of not enough water is worse than the pain the codeine is supposed to alleviate.

My instructions are (on a scale of 1-10) to take the pain med if it gets to a level of 3 or 4. I plan on taking it sooner the first time around and keep everything on my headboard at night so I don't have to call for help. Flexing my ankles for return blood flow and deep breathing to clear the lungs has also been stressed. How to be nice is alway a challenge as I tend to express whatever is on my mind. Keeping some of my thoughts to myself might be something to pray about. After all, there is a reason I'm considered 'Fearless", but there is a time to be less so.

Thanks All and blessings to each of you.

Phil, I'm so glad you posted I'll be eager to hear how you are feeling today and as the days go by and that marvelous long-acting anesthetic injection wears off... ;-)

I've been praying and will continue to pray for you and for your house full of family as you recuperate. And ditto what Jdpascal said: stay ahead of the pain!!!

Praying and thankful you made it through OK,
Colleen

I agree about staying ahead of the pain, especially early on. There was some pain about mid morning today so a took a single pain pill. i'm using an old style walker since the doctor said I could put weight on the leg as long as I didn't flex the knee. This means I'm getting good exercise and today I'm standing without aide but with the walker close at hand. I made it outside down the ramp without trouble and even got into the man cave to retrieve some masking tape to tape down the loose ends of the immobilizer straps. This is going far better than when I had the two total knee replacement surgeries.

PS
Since I've had to deal with physical pain most of my life, I've developed resistance to pain that perplexes many people, I need the reminder to not overdo things.

Dear friends,

Please pray for the big changes I am about to embark upon in my life. I am currently nearing the end of writing my doctoral dissertation at UCLA (basically about lots of dead languages :-)). I have to submit the completed work by December 1, so I am scrambling to incorporate the suggestions of my committee. After that, I have no idea what turn my life will take. I am trying to apply for several university jobs, but to be honest, ever since I got saved I have wanted to serve Christ and His church by teaching the Biblical languages. I have always been hesitant to enter the pastoral ministry, however, I'm not sure I have the strong calling that I think is required of pastors - although I have such a passion for the true gospel and I love proclaiming it. The former Adventist luncheon I attended was truly amazing - and I remember someone remarking offhand that I should become a preacher, haha. Well, to make a long story short - I am contemplating attending the Master's seminary because I know I need to have a strong exegetical foundation in order to be hired to teach the biblical languages. Please pray for me and my family, as I have no idea whether we will be able to afford this, and to be honest, my wife is kind of tired of my endless schooling. I don't know if she is saved - she doesn't understand why I have these problems with SDAism, but I feel I need to take our family to a more Biblically solid church to hear the word of God rightly divided. The Master's seminary asks about current church attendance and activities (I'm not even a member of the current church I attend!) and I think they will definitely look strangely at my SDA background. Anyways, please forgive my rambling and keep our family in your prayers! Thank you!

Kaspars

P.S. I will also be praying for you, Phil!

I will pray for you in this decision, whether it is of God's "Timing" for you.

I will also pray for your wife and family.

Hey everyone...just another little request - this came in today. I have been having off and on conversations with Mormons who evangelize at my UCLA campus, and today out of the blue a lady from the famous Westwood temple called me to invite me to dialogue with them. Apparently their missionaries had talked about me. I'm actually a bit terrified, since I don't know if being at their location might make them try to pressure me or something, but I gladly accepted the request as an opportunity from God to share the gospel with Mormons. So please keep me in your prayers as I meet with them on Monday. Thanks!

Lettlander~

I will pray for God's hand of protection upon you and the Holy Spirit
will give you the "words" to say~

As you know you have the "TRUTH" of Scripture~

Making JESUS the center of your dialogue with the Mormons is to your advantage!

I have found in these circumstances answering a Question with a Question can be
very helpful!

May JESUS be Glorified !

Things are progressing well. Still have to wear the knee brace for about three weeks. After that comes physical therapy, However, I've found a way to drive my pickup and was able to take my wife into emergency last weekend and am back to cooking including doing the turkey in the Weber on Thanksgiving. Yesterday I found I could once again load a bag of pellets into the pellet stove.

Yes, she came home last weekend. Our youngest daughter pick her up at the hospital and then took her to her home before gathering up 'the tribe' and bringing her here where we had an improptue party that night. She had three different conditions that needed treating but is recovering well. However, she has multiple chronic health issues that will never go away.

Hi Colleen,

Unfortunately the logistics didn't work out. Going to try for this upcoming week. But on another note I did visit the Master's Seminary (John MacArthur's seminary) and attended a few lectures. I had an awesome time and I would be so happy to attend if this is the will of God for my life. I have submitted my application, and they know about my SDA background. We'll see how things pan out. They are telling me I might be able to do some teaching either at TMS or the Master's College. That would really help with my finances for our family. Your prayers are greatly appreciated!

Kaspars
