Thanks, Colleen. I just found out that I have been accepted :-) So they DO accept SDAs, haha. Actually they interviewed me about my doctrine, etc. I am very anxious about figuring out the finances for this, let alone how I am going to get a job to support my family as I have now graduated from UCLA. Thank you so much for your continued prayers!

Kaspars, God put $800 in my bank account a year ago, when I really needed it. He owns everything. He will take care of your needs. He promised.

Update on my situation: Dear friends, I am now finally attending The Master's Seminary! Every day I am blown away by how these dear Christians love the Word of God and each have a genuine salvation testimony (who would have thought that Christians have actual born-again experiences!?). I intereviewed on Tuesday for a teaching position for Biblical Greek at The Master's College (affiliated with the seminary) up in Santa Clarita. I am hoping that this will be a good opportunity to get my feet wet, and importantly, for my family to be financially secure. The job starts at the beginning of March, so we have to survive until then somehow :-)

Thank you dear friends for all your prayers and support!

I am so glad for you Lettlander. God will provide. Did I tell you that God put over $800 in my bank account a year ago when I needed it?

Dear Friends,

Looks like God is really taking our family through a spin these days! I was denied the job teaching Greek :-( I understand this was because I am still in an SDA church (despite the fact that I don't consider myself to be SDA, nor believe in SDA doctrine). Then a potential job leading worship for a Baptist church that could have provided housing for us fell away because the pastor felt my wife and I were not on the same page :-( We are rapidly running out of finances and I am not sure what the Lord would have me do. Please pray for us, and also for the salvation of my dear wife!

Kaspers~

Have you considered renouncing Adventism once and for all?
And leave the Adventist church that holds your membership?

What are potential employers suppose to think?

I do not believe God can use effectively a person that shows divided loyalties~

It appears to me it is 'Decision Time' for you~
You really cannot have it both ways~ Take a Stand!

MJ, thank you for the nudge :-) I am on the verge of leaving. I had hoped that the Baptist church I could attend and work for would be the incentive for me and my wife to leave once and for all. Maybe these setbacks are a sign from God to get packing quicker.

Kaspers~

I do understand how difficult these decisions are~Believe me~ I have had
to make similar ones myself, as so many 'Formers' have done~

In my case, I was teaching in a large Adventist elementary school,
There came a time when I just could not continue because I was compromising my integrity~

This situation was tearing me apart, in my heart~
I had to take a STAND!
I could not procrastinate any longer!

I pray that GOD will give you courage to STAND !

One more thing! ~ Kaspers ~

I have Never been sorry that I did Not sign the next school year's contract!

The feeling of Freedom and Peace I experienced continues with me to this day
ten years later!

GOD is Trustworthy~ HE will take care of you and your family
in HIS time and in HIS way~ the very best!

Kaspers~ (IMO) this is just a "Faith Test"~!

~CHEERING YOU ON~! :-)

Kaspars, I'm praying. Please take MJs advice seriously. I believe that God asks us to take a stand on our own. He seems not to allow us to take the easy way out, gliding into a church and hoping one's wife will agree to leave with one, etc.

Your wife needs you to be the spiritual leader. If you leave, it WILL be easier for her to consider leaving. If you leave, your own internal integrity will cause you to be much less confused and anxious. God does not leave His own "begging bread". Matthew 6:25-34 are explicit that God provides the essentials you need for life; your "job" is to seek first His kingdom, and He will add all those other things to you. Might that Greek teaching job be available if you leave?

I'm not trying to push you into something. You have to be convinced. But you have to act when you know what truth is. God only asks us to do the next right thing.

Praying for you,
Colleen

Kaspars~

In my Thursday morning Bible study the following words from the book of James
stood out to me and I want to share them with you
to ponder and pray over~

This Scripture seems especially relevant to you
at this time in your situation~

"My brothern, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing the testing of your faith produces patience.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

~~~~~"But let him ask in Faith, with No doubting,
for he who doubts is like a 'wave of the sea'
driven and tossed by the wind."~~~~
~~~~~"He is a 'double-minded' man, in all his ways."~~~~~
James 1: verses 2,3,5,6,8 (NKJV)

I am praying for you~

Thank you for those verses and your prayers, MJ :-) Had a very tense discussion with my dear wife this evening, and she is very very upset at me and cannot understand why I have to leave the church. She says I am acting like a Pharisee and telling everyone that they are wrong (even my Dad, who is a pastor), and that I am the only one who is right. In her distress she even suggested that she head back to Europe with our dear baby boy (though I don't believe she was being serious about that). :-(

I just sent a letter requesting my membership removal from the old church I no longer attend. The one I had been currently attending I was not a member of.

Kaspars
