Violet, don't you love the way He works!

Just got back from church and hearing some of the kids from the missions trip tell their experiences. I think the one that blessed me most was from a young girl of 13 whose parents have been divorced for several years. Her father is "father" in name only. A truly rotten example and virtually completely absent from their lives. She has always been rather shy. She was so unsure about going on the trip that she was literally sick to her stomach before they left. Now here she is tonight standing up in front of the church and speaking!

One night during the training conference for the youth, apparently the Lord showed up in a huge way. Several of the kids were slain in the spirit. This girl tells of being down on the floor, with barely enough strength to lift her arms in complete surrender. She said that while she was there, the Lord suddenly, and to her deep surprise, spoke to her and said, "I am your father. My love for you will never change. And I will never abandon you." precious, just precious...

One of the boys, who was also very shy, spoke tonight as well. Apparently the Lord decided to use him in unique ways during the trip. He would suddenly be prompted by the Spirit to hug someone (this is a kid who had trouble even speaking to folks he has known for years!). Now here he is hugging strangers. And everytime he would hug them, they would suddenly break before the Lord. Walls in them would drop. Several were saved afterwards.

I appreciate so much everyones prayers for Geoff. It is interesting to me. He has been rather gloomy of late, not real happy with his job. I figured this would just really do a number on him. Yet, he sounds pretty darned upbeat for someone who, I have no doubt, is physically miserable! God is good. As was noted, He redeems everything. And we are believing that is exactly what He is doing in this.

Well, Praise God! Our son Geoff appears to be over the worst of the mono already! He is able to swallow comfortably now and went back to work full time Tuesday. He reports being tired, but hugely improved. Thank you so much for your prayers.

And, while I won't go into the details here, last night I saw the unfolding of the answer to a prayer I have been praying for 3 years combined with the resolution to a current problem of huge proportions. It's one of those times that just makes you want to mash your face into the ground before God crying THANK YOU! I, um, assume that someone! will understand that comment!

What I saw played out again was the importance, when we are in the midst of the battle, NEVER to lose sight of God's character. It's when we keep focused on His consuming desire for things to be righted, people to come into line with His will so they can enjoy His freedom, and that He is passionately interested in our healing both physically and our souls, that we can realize that the mountain WILL BE cast into the sea.

Focusing on Him, worshipping Him, and praising Him in the midst of the stuff makes us realize anew that IT, whatever "it" is currently, is not all powerful. IT only has the power to steal our joy if we are willing to allow it to do so. IT never has any power to shipwreck God's plans for us and those we love. Anything IT can do is only a detour, and God is far beyond willing to bend that detour back to His path.

The battle isn't against IT, the battle is with ourselves to stay focused on His presence and power. So I just praise God for His infinite faithful patience with us!

Lydell, I do understand your comment about mashing your face into the ground and crying THANK YOU! Thanks for sharing these answers to prayer. God is so faithful! And thank you for your example of faithfulness as well.

Update from Dr Patti,

=====

Good afternoon.

Mom is home safe and sound. She seems to be doing very well--the surgery went well; they were able to take out a very seriously ill gall bladder by laparoscope.

Thank you for all of your concern and love and prayers. She is resting well now, and should be good as new in a couple of weeks. Praise God for His love and care.

With love,
Patti

Hi, Glad she is healing and doing well. I was interested in the book you mentioned "All dressed up and no where to go", but was unable to access it on the net. Is there another way to get to the site, perhaps more generic? Some of us are a bit challenged on the internet, Thanks!

If you go to Dirk's websight he has a link up her book. You can read the entire book on-line. There are some other sda info websights that also link to this book.

The insurance claims fellow paid me off in full for my car yesterday. Today I will cash the check and give most of it to my mom for what I still owed her on the car. I ended up getting even more than I still owed on it so I can pay it off in full. My mom paid cash for the car and I was buying it then from her. So, that worked out without hitch. Even in my poorest states I have maintained good insurance on my cars. If I couldn't afford good insurance I didn't drive, I found other ways of getting to and fro. Now I know why. If I didn't have full coverage the car would be totaled and I'd still be responsible for paying back my mom. Thankfully that problem in my life has worked out really excellant. My husband is still in jail but I guess he's fine. I got a letter from him yesterday and although he hates being in jail he seems o.k. Maybe I can go see him this weekend. Since I don't own a car now and since my mom doesn't drive anymore she asked me if I could buy her car frm her. It's a very nice car, a 2000 Ford Focus stationwagon. Actually, I'm not too hep on Fords, you know the meaning of the letters, F-O-R-D, don't you? It's: Fix Or Repair Daily= FORD. But, with all that has been going on I think my moms feelings would be really hurt if I didn't buy that car from her as I have lously credit with lending institutations and I won't mess over my own mother with what I owe her and the Blue Book on that Focus will cause me to pay just about the same amount I still owed on my Cavelier anyway so it comes out just about the same. This has been a true answer to prayer. My insurance totally gave me enough money to pay off my smashed car and I now have another car which on the same day was nearly thrown into my lap. My husband seems to be o.k. Thank-you for your payers and please keep praying for my son Jacob, the son who is headedback to prison. Life is just so hard on him that I sometimes just weep because I know the hard time with just living he has.

My granddaughter is much better. They went back for more blood tests today and her white count is almost in normal range, her UA was OK, Dr. feels like the infection in bladder went to blood stream. They gave her another antibiotic shot and will put her on a regular dosage for 10 days and then next week she will have the sona gram. It was good to see her acting her normal self last night.
She didn't want to come to me for a while and then she finally did and just laid her head on my shoulder. What a great feeling.
Thanks for your prayers, Carol

Re the Little Boy,

The little boy I spoke of Wednesday is out of the hospital after 4 blood transfusions and still no diagnosis. The report is that it is 9some % sure it is not leukemia, Praise God for that. He has an anemic condition, sounds pretty scarry to me.
I'll keep you posted. Thanks to any of you who said a short prayer for him. I do not believe family is really in Christ so that is something else I find myself wondering how to approach the fact I offered her son up in prayer to you and to my Bible study and in Choir. I do not want to prostelitize only to let her know that there is a God out there and he is real and there in time of trouble, but of course as we know the trouble does not always abate the way we want it do, so pray that I will know how to show God's love thru what His Son did possibly by what He did for her son.

Carol, I'm praying that you'll know what to say and how to say it to the boy's mother. Sometimes, especially in crises, people are surprisingly responsive and touched when they hear some prayed for them. Pehaps, in the paradoxical wisdom of God, this heartbreaking incident will be a means of drawing the boy's family to Himself.

It has been a few months since I have posted anything. I left for a while because all I wanted to do was to argue about certian things in the bible and I had a chip on my shoulder. And rather than burn bridges and just get my life in order. I thought it would be better for me to leave for a month or so. I have one person in mind that I would like to say THANKS and also I am sorry to be a pain in the back side to. And that is Colleen. She emailed me back and forth a few times and stuck with me. And after a few emails left me to really search God and what is truly in the bible. Colleen thanks for not shutting me out. I still do not understand all that is involved with our walk with God. Do we do this or do we do that. I guess in some ways it is important to know some of these things. But the main thing is. That we walk with the one that is our Messiah and that is Jesus Christ. And just looking from the outside for the past month or so and just reading your posts. Have really made me understand that this is the main thing. That Jesus is our Messiah and we should have every confidience in this fact.

If anybody has a good web site to go to about the study and history of the truthfullness of our bible and to witness to Jewish people. I would like to have the web sites. I have many friends that I have left behind that do not believe and argue over word that is in our modern day bibles. And state that our bible is a corrupted version of the Hebrew bible. It's funny the Jewish people say that our bible is corrupted . But in the same breath they say that "Even when God himself has problems in heaven that he will ask the Rabbis for help" WOW WHAT A STATEMENT. I truly want to witness to them. But I need help. The Jewish people really rely on there Talmud and many other rabinical writtings over the Torah.
I have left ALL my friends and Most of my family for leaving the Jewish and SDA system.

Again Thanks Colleen for putting up with me and thanks everybody that has prayed for me.

Praise God for your new understanding of the gospel! Ask God to show you the work he has in mind for you to do. Let the Holy Spirit ground you in scripture, and let God bring the people into your life to whom you should talk.

The witnessing to the Jews will come when it is time. Right now, stay focussed on scripture and build your relationship with Jesus. To go too quickly back to witness to those who misled you can lead to massive confusion. Let God guide you and let you know when the time is right.
