This morning my daughter mentioned to me about a flyer she'd received in the mail. She was righteously indignant about it, given the usual deceit, deception and hiding of the real beliefs. Also, no mention of Jesus on the flyer. In case there's any doubt, the postmark was College Place, WA. The event is to be held in their mall so someone is putting money into this one to hide. The SDA church in this area usually doesn't like to spend money, so not sure whose budget is being tapped.

Could you please check out this website? http://www.surewordministries.org/html/core.html Also, please put these meetings on the prayer list that Jesus will be made known. My daughter is praying about whether or not to attend a meeting.

Praise God...

Oh, PraiseGod, it has to be SDA. I went to the website, and there's absolutely no mention of Jesus, but the testimonials show that a the meetings are (typically) orchestrated to overwhelm people with the impression that the presenters KNOW what the Bible says. I just cringed as I read words like, Now I know what Revelation really says, etc.

Yes, this is one we need to pray about; maybe we should remember to include it in our prayers this weekend at sundown on Friday and at 1:00 PT on Satruday.

I just went to the homepage and could not get any further, but if there is no mention of Jesus and who sponsors it, it is most likely SDA. They are good about the deceit. I have them on my prayer list. Praisegod, your daughter is on my list also.
God does not need deceit representing him.

I, too will keep this concern in my pryers. And, Praisegod, my son is in a program in which his medicine will be overseen by the agency. He has to comply or he'll have to go back to jail and get his medicine back on track that way. It is too bad the SDA's are so deceptive in their advertising.

For some reason I have had a difficult time asking for prayer for certain things about myself.
I can ask for prayer for my family members, for my job, for my health(my right knee hair line fracture which healed in 2 weeks), but I have been fighting asking for help with my eating disorder. Even though I belong to a twelve step program for it, I still want to eat inappropriately, especially sugar. I am not diabetic, but when I eat sugar I can get a bladder infection or what ever upper respiratory infection is going around. And I did eat sugar this past week and got an upper respiratory infection. God had been good after I was baptized a Christian and gave me about 2 months freedom from the compulsion to eat sugar. But it has hit me hard, again, and I am having a difficult time with it. So I am asking for prayers for me and my eating disorder, that God take away the desire to eat sugar and the desire to eat inappropriately.
Thanks for remembering me in your prayers.
God is awesome and He can heal me.

I will be praying for you, Diana. Eating disorders are tough because they're really not about food. Food becomes our obsession and compulsion, but those compulsions stem from underlying causes.

I have realized lately, as I've read about anorexia as I've dealt with a young woman who is in treatment for the disorder, how really anorexic I was in my 20's and early 30's. It wasn't talked about much then, and little about it was known widely. But I remember how compulsive I was, and during my worst times, how obsessed I was with the idea of what/when/where I would eat. I'm also realizing how many health problems I had (that lingered for years) that I attributed to "stress" were really related to nutrition.

God has been good, and as He has healed many of my heart wounds, the anorexia has been resolving as well. (No one could accuse me of being too thin now!) Still, many of the habits/impulses I learned then stayed with me, and I have continue to have to surrender them.

Susan, I'm so excited that your son is now in a program that will require accountability. Unfortunately, people who have had no interaction with the mentally ill can't understand how sometimes being in jail is actually a better option for them.

Let's all pray that your son comes to a realization that unless God chooses to heal him miraculously, that he must ALWAYS take his medicine. Unless you've had that conversation with someone, you just don't understand all the emotions you feel at the same time!

Praise God...

Colleen, The one thing I have learned about eating disorders is that they are not about food. I have been asking God what is it in me that keeps me turning to sugar, other than the fact that I like sugar and do not want to give it up. I like the taste of sugar and even though I know what it can do to me, I still eat it and I want to know why, so I can own it and say "God, take it from me." This is why I need prayers from all of you.

Diana, I will for sure keep your eating disorder in my prayers. I hope you have someone who you can talk to when you get the urge to eat the sugar. I have a good friend who is Mayan. He grew up in Yukatan, Mexico in a remote village near the sea very close to the Guatamalian/Mexico boarder. The white fishermen whould come to the village and bring old bicycles and toys and clothes for the children. They also brought candy and sodas and other suggary drinks. He grew up referring to sugar as, "The White Man's Poison". So, in my family when someone brings sweets into the house that are not God made sweets, such as fresh fruits and veggies we all start taunting the one who broungt it. Saying, "Oooh, ick, you brought The White Man's Poison". For some reason when we use that term for sugar it really gets to us emoionally and we tend to leave it alone then. Also, now for a prayer request. My precious little baby grandson went to Sabbath School for the first time in his life yesterday. Please, let's pray that Our Lord through the Almighty power of the Holy Spirit will let this child desire God's grace and pure understanding of truth. Thank-you. BTW, he s not yet two years old.

Hi Diana,
The Lord impressed upon me to share these scripture prayers with you. They are from a wonderful book called "Praying God's Word" by Beth Moore. These particular prayers are in the chapters Overcoming Addiction and Overcoming Food Related Strongholds.

"O, God, Diana desperately needs your decernment when something may be permisseible for her but not necessarily beneficial. Please empower her to resist things that are not beneficial so that she will not be mastered by anything. (1 Cor. 6:12)

Lord, Cause her soul to yearn for you in the night and long for you in the morning (Isa. 26:9) Please transfer her yearning and longing to You because she can have You to her fill! You will never be a detriment to her!

Lord, I pray You will give Diana the desire of her heart which at this moment is to be free-- and make all of her plans succeed. (Ps. 20:4)"
God Bless You,
Leigh

Thanks for the prayers for my son. Please, keep them flowing to God. Ask that God send angels to watch over him. He is barely 19. Last night he got beat uo very suverley. The entire right side from his eyebrow to below his hip on his leg is brused, scratched and swollen. He spent the night in the hospital. He has no clue who beat him up or where it happened at so I guess those things we will never know. Who did it and where it happened really doesn't matter. What does is that he heals and gets to his scheduled apointments. He is now deaf in his right ear but I'm hoping that his hearing comes back as that side of his head heals. What a life! And, tomorrow is my root canal.

Oh Susan, I am so sorry for what happened to your son. You can be assured I will pray for him and you.
God, You know what happened to Susan's son and how he got beat up. Place your healing hands on him and give him recovery. Help Susan as she goes to the dentist. That can be painful. You, God, are the Great Physician and I am asking that you lay your hand on Susan's son and on Susan.
As for those who beat him up, Lord I would like to find those brutes and do the same to them. That is just how I feel at this time, so Lord, you do what is right. You say revenge is mine and I will leave it to you. Thats where it needs to stay. Thank you for hearing me and for taking care of Susan and her children. You are awesome, God.

Susan, I am so sorry.

Dear Father, please comfort Susan and hold her in your peace tonight. Please touch her son and bring him to an awareness of You and of Your love for him and Your call to him. Please heal him and help him to find Your plan for his life. Please be her strength as she goes to the dentist tomorrow and as she deals with all that her son's disabilities require of her. Please glorify Yourself in Susan's life and in this situation with her son. Help Susan to honor You in all of this.

Thank you for being our all-in-all. Thank you for being close to Susan now.

We love You.

Susan, I am also praying for your son, and your peace at what must be difficult circumstances. How hard to watch our children struggle and suffer. makes me think of God and Christ .... We serve a God who "knows" .... I hope you find comfort in that.

My son's injouies are healing. He has no hearing in one ear so I need to make an apointment with the audiologist so he can determne if there really is pernamant hearing loss. Speeking of the audiologist-he is Catholic and he went through LLU. He is well versed in the details of the SDA religion-probably better than most SDA's. He tells us stories about being Catholic at LLU years ago. He gets me laughing so hard. Anyway, I got in the dentists chair and I chicken ed out and left and came home.

Susan, I was reading about your little grandson's first venture into the SDA church...my son is not quite yet 2 and at the end of the month, his father is taking him to a family wedding in Florida...and I also fear he will be attending an SDA church for the first time as they will be there over a Saturday. It makes my stomach churn to think of it. I did not really want Jonathan to go on this trip, but am trying to be equitable at the same time as family from Canada that B doesn't typically see, including his grandparents, are making the trip. But the idea of my son being surrounded by hard-core SDAs for 5 days just makes my skin crawl. And I fear whether his father will feed him adequately... Since Jonathan will only be 23 months, I'm sure he won't remember a thing, so I'm not sure it's him that needs prayer, but just my overall attitude to let his dad take him, knowing that over the summer we are planning a vacation that will take us out of state (and not expecting any flack from his dad about it in return).

Our children sure can pull at the emotional heart strings like no one else can....

Johnathan, I'm sure, is a wonderful and delightful little boy. In all honestly in the Cradel Roll department they do not instill any SDA rubbish into the children. They do sing the song, "Sunday is fo me, me, me. Monday is for me, me, me....But, the Sabbath is for Jesus". That's probably the main indoctrination ploy they use on the very young children. But, the thing is Melissa, they make Sabbath School so darn much fun for the toddlers and pre-schoolers that these kids will whine and beg to get to go to Sabbath School. Then when they get around 10-11 yrs old and are in Juniors they get hit real hard with the doctrinal stuff. As far as the food-well, hopefully he is otherwise a healthy little boy and remember a normal, healthy child can stay healthy through most any dietary situtation. Between the Hindu's, the SDA's and the hippies I know I have known many people who have never had meat, some no meat or eggs and some no animal products at all ever in their lives. They're fine, healthy people. Again, God made our bodies to be able to get through most anything. But, gosh, you'll miss your baby so much. How are you going to fill your time when not having a toddler to chase after all day and all night? No toddler to wash the dirt off of him dozens of times per day? What will you be doing to keep busy and to not worry about Jonathan? I hope you will be o.k.
