Susan, We are blessed to have our standard poodle. Yes, they are very smart, but, more important they are loyal, gentle, and they are terrific watch dogs. Labs and retrievers are great dogs also. I pray that it will be possible for you to get a dog you want soon.

Prayer Request for Healing -
We are leaving for a cross country trip on June 8 to visit my brother's wife who is dying from metastatic breast cancer. She is 44 years old and still has 3 boys at home ages 7-14. She is a committed SDA (my brother trained as a computer guy is serving as a SDA pastor in a small town church). As a doc, I deal with dying patients every week, but somehow it's different when its someone you love.

My specific requests are for:
1)miraculous healing and/or pain control
2)helping us to be servants to meet their needs
3)opportunities to witness about the Gospel

I have studied some about healing in the NT and believe that God can heal if it is His will. We will likely have a special healing prayer session on June 10. Your prayers would be appreciated.

We will be standing in spirit with you at that time. What is your sister-in-law's name? I know that God knows who she is and loves her, but I feel better being able to give at least a first name to the people I am praying for. I will also pray for your safety as you travel to be with your family.

Stardoc,
I know the burden you have on your heart for your SIL. I have a dear friend/cousin who is 45 with pancreatic CA. Selfishly I have prayed for me. I don't know what to say to her. It is only through the power of God that I can say and do that which will best meet her needs. I will pray this for you also. I will also pray for God's healing power for your SIL and that through all things His name will be glorified. Praise God she has your love and support. God will use you mightily.

Stardoc,
I will be praying for you and your SIL as you make that trip. I pray for her physical healing, as we do serve a God of miracles. I also pray for spiritual healing, and that she can have assurance of her salvation. I pray that the Lord will give you the right words to say. I understand very well what you are saying about dealing with physical illness in our own families, and even though you and I take care of sick patients every day, it is so different when your own family is involved. I believe we are fellow Alumni of LLU. I'd be interested in talking with you further. You can get my email from Richard, and I will try to contact you.

Stardoc, I also will be praying for you and for your SIL. God will use you, and we know He wants to heal her heart and give her salvation and the assurance that she has it. Praying for His courage and peace to be with her and with you.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. It is such a blessing to me to know that I will have others "lifting up my arms" through prayer as I try to show God's grace and love to those we meet. I'm sure that many there will try to evangelize me away from my "backsliding". I pray for ability to show Christ through my actions and have the Spirit provide words to me if the opportunity arises to witness.

Belvalew - My S-I-L name is Jo B. thanks for asking.

Stan (Riverfonz) I'd enjoy the opportunity of sharing and learning more about your journey. Have Richard (whoever that is) give you my private e-mail. Put something about "Former Adventist" in the subject line so I don't inadvertantly trash your message with all the spam.

I have added your SIL and her family and you to my prayer list. I will pray for her spiritual/physical healing and that God give you the words to say to the family and to her.

This is a prayer request for a young friend and her family. Her husband is being let out of the Marines with a disability and they say it is not a military disability and he will not be getting anything from the military. He started a job not to long ago and was just told this last week, the company is closing. She has not worked for a while and will now be looking for a job. They have a 12 year old son who is taking classes on the computer at home. She is "D", he is "M". Please add these people to your prayer list. D's MIL is an SDA. I met "D" at the SDA church along with her husband. They are going through a rough time right now and do not know Jesus, but they are not SDA either. Their son has some problems also with behaviors and scholastically. He seems to be doing well doing the schooling over the computer.
Thanks for your prayers.

I'll pray, too, that a good job will be made available to both the husband and the wife, and that the son will receive appropriate educational helps.

Diana, I am praying for your friend and their family. It can be so tough in a military situation like you describe where a person can be disabled, but not be technically service connected.

I would like prayer for me and my extended SDA family, especially this weekend.

Tomorrow I am taking my mom (who has been going to our Church for about two years) and my Aunt (from out of town, who has been both VERY HISTORIC SDA, for a short while more liberal, and now somewhere in-between) to my Uncle's funeral in Walla Walla, Wa. It's a long drive for us and I hope we can have some good discussion about my reasons for leaving the SDA Church (EGW, SDA Doctrine, IJ, etc.).

After we get there, I will be surrounded by mostly Conservative/Historic SDA Kin, many of whom have connections at the denominational level. I want to respect my Aunt's feelings during this sad time, but I also want to share what I've learned about Salvation, Grace, Freedom in Christ, etc. I want God to give me wisdom to know when and what to speak and when to just be quiet! I am so excited about all I've learned that I want to SHOUT for JOY, but this might not be the right time. But who knows? This might be the perfect time to discuss Salvation and our Eternal Life! Funerals tend to remind us of our own mortality, which might lead to the question - "do I know I'm saved?"!

I will trust the Holy Spirit to guide my tongue.

Anyway, thanks for your prayers.

Tisha, I will pray that the Lord will give you the right words to say at this difficult time. You have the right idea in stressing your love for Jesus, and to emphasize the resurrection and salvation issues. A funeral as you say may not be the place to emphasize SDA issues, but you never know how the Lord will lead and open doors to you.

Tisha,
I have added you to my prayer list and will ask God to give the words He wants you to say. He will do that as He has promised. He is so awesome.

Benevento,
I'm praying that the Lord will open the spiritual eyes of your family and friends, and that He will give you the opportunity to share in anyway He sees fit.

I started to write this earlier today, then felt it so trivial to the requests on here, I deleted it...but it's not trivial to me and I guess i'll try again. I have been fighting some fierce "blue" attitude. I'm sure it's a number of things, but I'd really like to kick out of this emotional dump. I know what I would say to me if I were hearing my complaints and self-pitying gripes (real or otherwise), but that doesn't change the seeming darkness surrounding me. There are a couple of details worth mentioning, my "old" house is supposed to close next Wednesday, and I'm anxious to be done with that anchor, while almost grieving the loss of an old friend...I got the house after my divorce and it became a symbol for my future, now I'm trying to close another chapter and look ahead again... and I'm trying to figure out a vacation for a 12-year old and a 2-year-old alone.... We've been through so much the last year, I just think we need one, but trying to figure out something where we can all participate is a bit of a challenge. And there is ever and always my daughter, who I intermittently feel bad about leaving out of all the family stuff. I just can't manage her and the youngest at the same time...and then feel guilty for putting undue burdens on my 12-year old ...he is just a kid still too. When I start to feel these pressures, I tend to "wish" B would just figure out the truth about Adventism so he could help me, but know that is highly improbable and not necessarily in my best interest even if he did "open his eyes". That just makes me feel really alone. Besides that, the 4th of July is one of the times I traditionally went to see my grandfather, and he's gone this year...my own father has an incurable cancer, which I can really see as he has helped me move these past few days. Then there's the painting, carpet, unpacking, etc. that needs to be done at the new house. VBS, church camp and scout camp for my 12-year old ....I guess I just feel really out there hanging on the limb hoping the winds don't blow me off. You get the idea.... Maybe I'm just really tired.

Oh Melissa, nothing is too little for prayer!

I'll be praying that the clouds roll away soon and that all the little details will fall together for you!

When you're too tired to pray you can still rest in God's arms like a little child!

Melissa,
You are in my prayers.
When things seem to overwhelm me, in my head, I get out my gratitude list. It is a list I keep in my head for moments when I feel overwhelmed, have an "attitude" and I do get them and just generally feel yucky. I start with my head and name each bone in my head, individually, and tell God thank you for ..., then go to the next thing.
It does not take long for everything to get back into perspective. I repeat my gratitude list out loud until my attitude changes. It really does not take long. Just a suggestion.
God loves you and He cares about ALL things in your life. He is so awesome.
Diana
