Colleen,
Life has been controlling my hours and I have had very little time to see that you decided to go ahead with your knee procedure. I am sorry to have missed out on the specifics of when and all that goes along with knowing. I keep you in my prayers daily and so at least I had you "covered" in a general way. :-) I am happy to hear all is going as well as you hoped. I will pray for your PT next week. I am sure Chris is a nice man but the PTs I have seen seem to get their "kicks" at the expense of my sweat and tears! BEST WISHES!!

No, not really....

If I were nice I wouldn't have gone into PT. I recently took a Gallup Strengths Finder test. "Empathy" was number 32 out of 32....dead last.

I now exercise my lack of empathy as an administrator.....it's not so different from PT......I still get my kicks at the expense of others' sweat and tears.

All tongue and cheek of course.... :-)

Chris, I understand where you are coming from. I understand PT is physical torture and OT is other torture. Tongue in cheek, of course!!!

Chris, thanks for the explanation. You're exactly right re: the accompanying weakness!

Actually, I have a sympathetic spot for PTs--my dad was one, and I admired him and his skill and his (unofficial) diagnostic ability greatly. He also taught me how important OT is, Diana!

Having had multiple injuries and surgeries, and therefore multiple visits to see multiple physical therapists, I want you to know that my experience has been that they understand your pain and discomfort, but they must be strong for you, sort of tough in the face of your pain, so they can help you move through it to recovery on the other side.

Yes, they make you do things that hurt. Yes, they do things to you that hurt. And yes, those things lead to a more rapid recovery, and perhaps a more complete recovery. When it comes to physical therapy you do have to do it until it hurts, but be sure to do it right!

Did I state that correctly, Chris?

Dear God, please bless and strengthen all of the physical therapists that have helped to strengthen me.

Chris, I'd love to be a good advertisement for the help I've received from people who so faithfully do what you do. I've had six total surgeries on my feet, all of which had the help of physical therapists to get me up and walking again. I've had rotator cuff surgery, again, requiring major help from a dear lady who did her best to rub away the pain, and helped to sustain me through a second procedure to release adhesions that had developed, then finally gave me back the use of my left arm. Presently I'm seeing a PT because I have a compressed disk L4 & L5, and that is going slowly, but is progressing.

I'm nearly 60, way too many pounds overweight, and because I'm prone to hurting, way to willing to sit on my well-padded behind. My current PT had me invest in one of those exercise balls, and I try to faithfully use it, but the most exercise I get with it is moving it out of the way while I'm cleaning around it. I'm sure you have to deal with the basic inertia of people who are in pain day in and day out. God bless you for persisting.

It's been a while since I've been able to post. As you may recall, I went to W.Va to visit my S-I-L who was dying from breast cancer at age 43. Thanks to those of you who prayed for us and her (Jo). We were there for about 10 days and were able to minister to her, my brother, and 3 sons still in the home. She particularly liked having hot/cold treatments and poltices applied. Although my clinical training is skeptical of the effectiveness of these methods, we were happy to do them for her.

God answered our prayers for opportunities to share the gospel. It was rather sad to see her struggling with assurance of her salvation. We had several discussions and shared texts confirming salvation by believing in Christ. After each, she would often slip back into worry about some unconfessed sin. We all had time to affirm each other and apologize for past misunderstandings. We had a particularly meaningful healing prayer time on June 10. Unfortunately, she was not healed and remained paralyzed until her death a week after we returned. One blessing was that despite widspread metastasis, she was largely pain free with some maintenance narcotics.

On a lighter note, it was rather amusing to see her being careful with her food (not to mix fruit and vegetables). My wife, a LLU trained dietitian, remarked to me later that her former colleagues and professors at LLU acknowledge that there is no scientific basis for this belief.

We did have time to discuss with several family members our belief in the sufficiency of Christ and the obsolescence of the old covanent. It's amazing with how little they (and I) know about what the Bible really says. At least I'm trying to learn more. When confronted with the clear teaching of Paul, My brother (a Sabbath School teacher) actually said that since these verses conflict with how Christ lived, he will ignore them and do what Jesus did. When asked why he doesn't follow Jesus' example and follow ALL the Jewish feasts and sacrifices, he actually said that he does (Thanksgiving). When asked why he doesn't observe that Sabbath like it says in Ex 16 (stay in own tent) he replied that I shouldn't criticize his Sabbath keeping.

I guess it's pointless to discuss scripture with someone unless they are willing to let the Bible speak. They must think that if the Bible doesn't agree with one's beliefs, it must be because they don't actually understand what the text says, or because the Bible is an imperfect book and can't be trusted.

Thanks again for your prayers.

Stardoc,
Thanks for the update. I believe God used you to minister in a unique way to your family. Only in eternity will we realize how God has worked to make all things work out according to His purpose.

So true, Stan. Welcome back, Stardoc. You did minister God's love to your family.

You're right about its being pointless to discuss Scripture with someone unwilling to let the Bible speak. It will be interesting to see how God waters the seeds you planted while you were there!

Colleen, I found it to be so true about waiting on the Lord to water the seeds being planted. A few years ago, after my watershed experience, and after reading Dale's books, both of them, I ordered other copies to share with my brothers and sister. My sister devoured the books like I had done, and thanked me for sending them. My brother's wife got her hands on the books and after determining that they had what she perceived to be an anti-Adventist twist to them, she destroyed them. My brother never even knew I had sent them. That was maybe 8-10 years ago.

Fast forward to now. Since my sister's passing last year, and after having several in-depth talks with me, my brother seems open to reading those books again. We have often discussed the various erroneous doctrines of the SDA church, and after a recent discussion on the state of the dead he literally broke down into tears. His first wife died of cancer almost 20 years ago, and at the moment he broke down he said, "Then my precious **** is with Jesus right now!?" I assured him that was what scripture has said, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

Anyway, please pray that I can keep reaching out to him. My brother has not attended church for nearly 30 years, but still worries about what he eats, and a lot of the rest of the SDA falderral, and I'd like to see him exhibit a little more confidence about where he stands with Jesus. I know in my heart that he gave his heart to Jesus a long time ago, he just needs to shake of that old conditioning, and so far he has had nothing else to replace it with. His name is George. Please hold him up to Jesus in your prayers.

Stardoc, You may not see it now, but God used you to witness to your family. You will see the results some day. Maybe here on earth and for sure in heaven.
Belva, I have added your brother to my prayer list.
It is so freeing to be able to pray for those who need it without worrying if they are worth it or not. In God's eyes, they are worth it and that is all that matters to me. God, you are forever awesome.

Thank you for all your prayers for my family. I still have lots of anger and need to address some issues, and then need to forgive. Boy - is that hard!

The Adult Protective Services investigator came, and after looking at all the issues, including talking to our estate lawyer and financial planner, he determined there was no cause for concern. In fact, he commended us on what a good job we are doing! He apologized, explaining that he had to follow up on every complaint. He also told my mom that she had to accept our help, and that it was hard to grow old and dependent, but that she was lucky to have a caring family willing to take care of her in her own home.

While I know we are doing a good job, it is still scary to think that our actions are being criticised and might be judged wrongly! It's also hurtful to be trying so hard, working around so many issues at something that is so thankless sometimes. It hurts to know that my mom complains to our neighbors. Even though I know she has some dementia and depression, I feel anger towards her for complaining. It felt good to be praised at the end of it all. That's my human need showing!

So, my lesson is to trust more fully in Jesus and not get so worked up about these things. I will also need to learn just what "love thy neighbor", "love thy enemies" really means! I guess I will need prayer for that, too!

Diana, I'd love to get the info on CFS that you offered. Colleen can give you my email address - OK COLLEEN?

Also, Everyone - Have a good Holiday Weekend. I'll be out of town until Tuesday, camping with our Church Group! FUN!

My Daughter, Husband and Grandbaby are going with us, as well as a couple of SDA Friends. I pray that they will see Jesus shining through all we do and say. I would love them to find a real personal relationship with Jesus. I want them to understand the difference between SDA "Christians" the the Christian Church as a whole. I want them to WANT to learn more!

I'd love to have your prayers added to mine for these precious souls to understand the real truth and have a saving relationship with Christ Jesus.

Thanks - tisha

God gave me a present. I did not ask for it. I knew I was going to get a raise in pay, but I thought it would not be very much. Well, God, in His greatness, gave me a much bigger raise than I expected. So I am giving Him the thanks and the Glory.
God you are so awesome.

It's been almost exactly two years ago that I found this website and got my "login". I am so thankful for the people on this site who have helped me through the ups and downs of the last couple of years. You have accepted this outsider and the sometimes anger that comes up with the love of Christ and compassion that only those who have experienced it can know. I know more challenges are ahead and continue to pray every day for my little son and HIS whole family. It is a precious thing to have my two year old ask me to pray before dinner or at bedtime or to ask me to sing that "Jesus song". I sense a kinship with those on this forum that I can't find with those not touched by adventism. You all are incredible examples to me and a touch stone when I need to be grounded. Thanks to all who have supported, contributed to and allowed me to share with you these past two years. If we never meet on this earth, let's plan a bbq at my eternal home ... later than sooner, if you know what I mean :-) .

Regardless of what family and former friends may say, I "see" the love of Christ in all of you.

(I'm not going away, just wanted to say thanks!)

Big thanks to everyone who prayed for Bear. He has been home now for 2 weeks and is back to his old self, except that he thinks he needs wet food instead of dry.

I'm back from Florida. The trip went well and the kids are doing fine right now. Thanks everyone for your prayers.

Thank you for your prayers regarding my search for an admin asst. Finally found one and she started this week! I have been so swamped! Neglecting my family and home, and feeling bad about it. This search went on for about 6 or more months. Interestingly, the adventist candidates just didnt work out for one reason or another....This admin assistant is a dedicated Christian, active in her church! She is also vegetarian...but NOT SDA. We should enjoy our meals together!! Meat is not an issue for me, just cant stomach it! Thanks for praying. THank you God for bringing me this awesome assistant!
