I haven't been around for the last three months. My brittle diabetic body put me into a (just short of) three month stay in the hospital and rehab. In four weeks. I underwent three major surgeries. First was an artery bipass in my right leg. Then a partial amputation of my right foot. followed by an amputation of my right leg to just below the knee.

Things are now stable and we are finally back home. It was a tough nut to swallow for a man in his mid 50's, but guess what? God is STILL sovereign and STILL on the throne. Through the process, I had opportunities to tell several about my best friend, Jesus. Maybe even one will come to know Him and make Him their best friend, too.

There was so much prayer on my behalf. The "story" isn't completed yet. We may be in a wheel chair, but there are exciting challanges yet ahead. Remember when God told te king of Judah "Stand by and see what I can do." I am looking forward to watching HIM work! And when His work is done, I can't wait to go on along home and be with Him. Now there's a statement I never would have heard in the old SDA years!

No matter what, look always to the cross and the one who hung there. It just doesn't get any better than that!

In HIS grip!

Welcome back Thomas. I'm sorry to hear about your medical challenges. As a PT, I have worked with a lot of folks with amputation over the years and I know there is a good deal of pain and that the rehab can be long road. I pray for your recovery and trust that you are in Jesus' hand.

Thomas, I had also been concerned about you and have been continuing to pray for you. Thank you for letting us know how you are, and I am so sorry to hear about your recent ordeal.

God is glorifying Himself through you. Your love for Jesus is real and inspiring, and it will carry through the rehab and struggles ahead. Praise God that you are home and that you are still honoring Him.

Prayers for you will continue.

Thomas,

It is great to hear from you again. My wife Sylvia can relate to your problems as a diabetic. She has also had multiple foot and skin surgeries due to complications from type 2 diabetes in recent years and/or months. However, despite her many medical problems (totalling several weeks in the hospital), she is still able to work full-time.

As Diana often says, "God is awesome." We will remember you in our prayers.

Thomas, let me congratulate you on your attitude because I've known others who would choose to look at your situation and call it a setback. My hat is off to you. You, dear sir, are willing to play with the hand you are dealt, and celebrate still being in the game. God bless you and I pray he continues to hold you in the palm of his hand. You are a true reflection of the fact that we are not here to win this game, as others would term winning, but we are here to bring glory to God. By your go-gettum attitude, you are doing just that!

Thomas,
I missed your cheery and God filled messages on here. I work with many diabetics in your condition also, so I have a very good idea of what you are going through. I will never understand God when he tells us he does not give us more than we can bear. But, He is God and is still in charge and loves each of us. What ever happens will be for His honor and Glory.
So, I thank God for you and your witness where you are.
God, I do not understand you, but you are awesome.

Hi everyone:

My husband and I have been looking at a move to Lincoln for some time. We have felt the Lord move us in that direction very strongly in spite of our reservations regarding leaving the Denver area. This past weekend, He made another rather loud statement :-) about our moving...and we are going to happily(even if it is with some trepidation) follow His lead.

I am so grateful that His purposes will be done in spite of my failings.

He is amazing...I am basking in it today.

Hello and welcome back. Just read you post about going to visit your friend for the baby dedication. You are so bold with your faith!!
You have my curiosity in some of the "loud" statements about moving.

Thank you Brian. It's good to be back. We went on a 2 1/2 week sojourn across the midwest! :-) I went into withdrawals because I couldn't get online and check into FAF!

The LOUD statement is lengthy and I'd love to share. I'll post it on Lincoln FAF so I don't take up too much space here.

Well, today I talked with my pastor and gave him all the books written by former SDAs and explained why I gave them to him. He had studied cults in theology and he remembered that the man who wrote the book said SDA was not a cult. Then I told him about EGW, the IJ and he said it sounded like a cult. God gave me the words to say. My pastor said I can be used as a resource when it comes to SDAs and of course I said, YES!!! I told him about another SDA I met, in the congregation.
Then I told him about tithing, because he preached on it a few weeks ago. I told him I had felt like walking out, but then told him that I stayed and listened to the part that was not about tithing. After telling him about SDAs and tithing, he understood why I felt the way I did. I told him I had researced tithing in the Bible.
Lastly I told him of my relationship with my sister MLB. He prayed for her and me and our cruise to Mexico before I left. He was glad I brought those books to him and he will share then with the staff.
It was a very pleasant meeting and Thank God, I was not nervous.
Thank you God for being with me and answering our prayers to put the right words in my mouth today.
You are so AWESOME.

That's a great report, Diana. Not all ministers are capable of accepting criticism (no matter how offered) with such grace as it sounds he did. That truly is a blessing.

Diana, praise God! He kept you calm, spoke through you, and gave your pastor an undefensive heart. He is awesome!

I am praising God today for His protection of Nathanael. Last night, right as sundown, he was outside playing with Rocky the sheltie. They were chasing each other, and in the dusk, Nathanael didn't see the cable that was supporting a pine tree to a stake. He tripped over the cable and flew down the bank and landed face down on a cinder block at the base of the fence. He has no memory of the fall.

His glasses broke, and he sustained a very deep gash that began just left of center on his left eyelid and curved downward toward his cheekbone--about 2 1/2 or 3 inches. He bled profusely, and we rushed to urgent care where they checked him and sent us to emergency at LLUMC.

The upshot: His eye is OK. He has eight stitches and three steri-strips below those holding the shallower end of the gash together. We finally left emergency a bit after 1:00 this morning, Nathanael with a deep ache in his forehead and cheek, a bad headache, and two vicodins ingested.

This AM he felt much better and actually went to class (he started classes at the U of Redlands last week).

Richard and I and Nathanael are thanking God for sparing his eye and for being with him even through this. The first triage nurse who saw him at urgent care looked at his cut, heard the story, and said, "You were really lucky."

Praise God for His presence and provision.
