God is leading me to talk to and/or email some others regarding my spiritual journey. Isn't it amazing the people that the Holy Spirit impresses you to reach out to?? I have had people on my mind and heart that I havent thought about in awhile! Please pray for me to have wisdom and for me to be able to express the good news! Please pray for their hearts to be prepared. I have already spoken to two in my church, with mixed reactions, emailed two others, and am really praying about one particular person in a leadership role in the SDA church. I have been praying about the timing for quite some time, and the time is now. I am also inviting two more friends to this site. Its a new experience to not be ashamed of the GOSPEL. Really, I cant imagine NOT sharing good news with friends. I'm probably being naive in expecting others to have the same reaction I have had, based on the stories of others here, so it is good to know others here will be praying when the bombs drop!! Im not ready to speak to my immediate family, for a variety of reasons, but I am praying to be open to God's leading and timing in that area...

Prayer request for Hollywood actress.

Randy Martin, pastor of Covenant Pres. Church here in Bakersfield sent me an e-mail Sunday evening telling of an unusual experience he and his wife had after preaching in Glendale yesterday.

In the foyer after service two women came up to he and his wife. "The older woman was a Hollywood actress - very well known, with a younger female friend who seems to be a Christian." The actress said she came to hear Randy! It took them a while to locate the church as they had driven up from Beverly Hills. She teared up a couple of times as they talked. "She wants Bible teaching, non-pentecostal, non mega-church, non-entertainment church - because she is trying to find God." They provided information on local PCA church closer to Beverly Hills. "Again she began to cry. She hugged and kissed us both when she left." He writes, "What she meant by coming to hear me - seeking to find this church this morning - driving all the way from Beverly Hills - will probably be a mystery until heaven to us, but what we do know is that she heard of God's grace in the Gospel of His Son."

So without knowing who this "very well known older Holllywood actress is, " I solicite your prayers to join ours to pray that God will direct her to a solid teaching source for her to be fed the Water and Bread of Life.

It is cause for rejoicing, however, just to know that God's Spirit can still reach the hearts of some rich and famous. To God be the praise and Glory. We hope to meet this lady in heaven.

Thanks for sharing that story Jess.

My dad has had another serious complication, he is sedated now, and the surgeon will let us know how to proceed in the morning. When he is not sedated, he is very agitated. He has a terrible terminal illness. Its been a long battle, dont think he can withstand another surgery at this point...My mom is falling apart, it has been so traumatic for her for literally years, lots of ups and downs. Praise God my father knows and loves the Lord..I always remind him that he can pray and God can understand him, even when we cant! Its so frustrating for him not to be able to communicate with words most of the time. Please pray for me too, Im very close to my dad.

Javagirl,
My heart goes out to you and your parents. This sort of pain is impossible to identify with until you are in the midst of it. I lost my mother to stomach cancer.

If your dad can read the Scriptures, I would encourage him to saturate his mind with the WORD.
Ps. 91 is so powerful and calming.

We now pray almost every morning for the Lord to hasten His coming. Nothing like family crisis and pain and illness to increase your desire to see an end to all this suffering and enjoy perfect health without fear of any disease or physical, emotional or mental depletion.

I shall hold you and your folks in prayer. May God's Living Peace find entrance into your heart and put the warm glow of hope within your spirit,
in Jesus name.

Hi All- I have read all the prayer request and I feel a little ashamed to ask for prayer. My problems seem so small even though they are real to me. I pray that the Lord will bless you and answer your prayers, as He is able to do and may God's will be done. I would ask that you pray that the Lord will lead me to His will for my income as I am not sure which way to turn. I am a singer and musician and I have been working in bars and clubs and I feel that I need to get out of this situation. Money is very tight and I am worried and stressed out among other things, my brother is sick and I have to watch him slowly and painfully die. I need a chruch, but I am so ani-chruch right now that I don't feel comfortable in any of them. I just feel alone and depressed and useless.

Thanks for listening

Patrick, yours is not a trivial request, and I'm happy to see you back here.

I will pray for your situation. I'd like to encourage you to spend a bit of timeóeven 5 or 10 minutes for starters--in the Bible every day. I'm more and more convinced that we learn to know God and to hear His voice through His words in Scripture. It's the place where we learn to know His heart and His sovereignty and His great love and mercy.

It's very hard to focus on Scripture when one's anxious or depressed, yet paradoxically, Scripture is the antidote to being overwhelmed. Tell God exactly how you feel, and allow Him to lead you and speak to you through His word.

Dear Father, thank you for sending Patrick to the forum today, and please surround him with prayers and support and with your Spirit. Thank You for the plans You have for him and that You are already in the future. Please bless his brother and help him to know Your saving mercy. Please strengthen Patrick's heart and give him the courage to follow You wherever You lead.

Please enlighten the eyes of his heart so that he may know the hope to which You have called him, the glorious riches of Your inheritance in the saints, and Your incomparably great power for us who believe (Eph. 2:18-19).

Thank you that You are with Patrick now and that You never call us to make a move for which You do not equip us. Thank you that You are strengthening and guiding him.

Thank you for the talent You have given him, and please put Your song in his heart. We praise You for completing the work You begin in us. We praise You for being our sovereign God!

In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Hi Richard,

I have gotten behind in reading but wanted you to know that I have been thinking and praying for you. Today I heard a song on the radio by Natalie Grant and thought of you, because I know how much you love to be in the presence of the Lord. The lyrics are:

"Who told us weíd be rescued?
What has changed and why should we be saved from nightmares?
Weíre asking why this happens
To us who have died to live?
Itís unfair.

Chorus:
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell weíd be held."

I am praying that you will feel God's arms around you during this painful time for you.

I can understand a little how you feel. My son, whom we adopted last year, has been in the Behavior Hospital in Chattanooga for the last week. He has become unstable and we aren't sure when he will be discharged. One morning a song was on the radio, I think by Mark Shultz but I am not sure. It was talking about all the names of God, and how He is our Author, and how He is the Healer of the broken. That really encouraged me to remember that God had written all my days before I was even born, and to remember that He is the Healer of the broken. My son is broken right now, as is your daughter, and I have to believe that they are in God's hands even now, and I am leaving it to Him to take care of them.

Oh, Melinda, I'm praying for you--and also for you and your daughter, Richard.

I'm praying, Melinda, that you will be able to get a good diagnosis for your son and that God will send the right intervention into his life. He knows what your son needs to heal, and He knows what your famiy needs to cope with this and to go from here.

Melinda, thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. They come at a very appropriate time. Annie is back home but she still feels she can have victory in her own strength and has reopened her friendships with those she was with before she went into treatment.

I just pray she will feel God's touch on her life and if necessary "knock her off her horse" as Saul was. I know I'm in His arms and if I wasn't I'd not be able to deal with all the "pressures" of life. He is GOOD and He is evident every day.

Richard

Patrick, you are in my prayers. Ive been there. I'm reminded of a friend who used to respond to my statements of feeling alone/useless etc. with "Those are Lies from the Pits of Hell!" For some reason that used to just shock me and make me smile. I could just visualize those lies rising up in black smoke or something. They are lies, of course. Lord, help Patrick experience Your truth. Let him know the reality of his value, and give Him the hope and peace that You have promised.

Jess, sorry to hear of your mom. You are right, that kind of suffering make us long for our real home! My dad can't read anything anymore, but he loves to hear the bible read to him! It is the ONLY thing that calms him when he is agitated and combative.

Thanks for your prayers all. My dad will probably need only minor surgery this time, perhaps even outpatient if all goes well. He is sedated, and we are waiting for an operating room to come available, maybe thurs or even friday.

I am praying for you Richard and Melinda.

Jess,
I hope you can share the name of that Hollywood actress at some point. I was very touched by that story of a Hollywood actress who is trying to get away from the megachurches and entertainment centered churches to the Word of God centered churches.

Father in heaven, I pray for the people in Hollywood who are seeking after you. I pray also for Richard's daughter Annie in a special way. I pray for Melinda's son that that behavior problem is corrected. I pray also for Patrick Foy and his situation, that you will direct him to a church where your Spirit will minister to him, and also be with his brother who is dying that your grace will touch him also. We pray in Jesus name.

Java, Colleen, Jess, Melinda, Richard, Stan and all of my former Adventist friends,

Thank you so much for your prayers and up lifting. The Spirit of God is here in this form and I thank Him for bringing me back here, again. I have added you to my prayer list and pray that your burdens will be lifted and that the Spirit will dwell with you through your times of trouble.

We are being evicted from our home, as of October 31. (The landlord is selling this property plus there is mold remediation work that needs to be done, so he is terminating the lease.) Please pray that we will be able to find a place (one that's free of mold), and that will accept our pets.

Thanks so much!

Heavenly Father, We thank you for your special blessings on Jeremy and his family. We pray that you will find them a place to live where their pets are also welcome, and there is no mold problem. Father, we believe that since your eye is on the sparrow, there is no request that is unimportant to you. We pray in Jesus' name.

Jeremy, we need to be sure Polly has a place to live. With a face like that, who could refuse?

Yes Father, We praise your name and have the confidence that you are always here for us. We pray for Jeremy and his family, we pray that you will put them in a new home, a home selected and blessed by you, one that will be even better then before. We have the faith that you will hear our prayers and answer in your will.
Thank you Father, In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

Jeremy, through every hardship I have ever been in, the Lord has always changed things for the better. It mat not seem that way at the moment, but believe in Him and see what happens.

God Bless
Patrick

Jeremy, I thought of you this morning when I heard this song on my way to church....here are the lyrics:

Morning by morning I wake up to find
the power and comfort of God's hand in mine.
Season by season I watch him amazed, in
awe of the mystery of his perfect ways

All I have need of his hand will provide.
He's always been faithful to me

I can't remember a trial or a pain he did
not recycle to bring me gain. I can't
remember one single regret in serving
God only and trusting his hand

This is my anthem, this is my song, the
theme of the stories I've heard for so long.
God has been faithful, he will be again.
His loving compassion, it knows no end.

All I have need of his hand will provide.
He's always been faithful to me

Just reminded me no matter what we're going through, He will "recycle" to bring us gain. I know He is holding you and your family close.
