Richard,
In my Genesis study this week we looked at chapter 5. It seems like a chapter that wouldn't have much with all the living, begatting and dying but there is so much. I love that with Enosh "man began to call upon the name of the Lord." Generations later, after many, many years of calling upon the name of the Lord, Enoch walked with God. It was interesting that Enoch had some type of conversion after the birth of his son at the young age of 30 (I don't have my Bible right beside me). From Enoch down to Noah the truths and attributes must have been passed down.

The point of Genesis 5 that the Holy Spirit lead me to was that calling on the name of the Lord can be contagious in families! Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep holding on to God's redeeming peace and power! Annie is a very fortunate girl to have such a faithful father.

A WALK OF FAITH PLEASES GOD!! You're in my prayers Richard.

Richard - I will pray for your daughter and you. I know addiction is very difficult. I had trouble with it in my younger years. The SDA church was what I thought to be an excellent choice because of the laws against smoking and drinking. I needed religion and was a little familiar with the Catholic church with a mostly Catholic family. But everybody could smoke and drink and that was what I wanted to stop. I now know it isn't in laws, it is in the spirit that brings peace and hope even from addiction. I know praying works and I do believe in miracles. We have all been witnesses to them and there will be more.

One of the physical therapists with whom I work is in her mid 40s and has started having seizures, petit and grand mal. She is her sole support and all her family-Mom, Dad, and sister-are on the East Coast. She had a grand mal at work 3 weeks ago, she was not with a patient, and ended up in the ER. She is now on medication and her doctor will not release her to return until her seizures are under control.
One of the other PTs has a history of seizures also. She said it took 2 years for her seizures to get under control. Like I wrote above, this gal is out here by herself and needs to work.
Please pray for her. I want to say to ask God to get the seizures under control quickly, but God knows what is best. Thanks for praying for my friend.
God is so awesome.

I'm at work so can't take much time to respond as my students are writing. :-)

I thank each of you for your prayers, they mean so much and I believe very much in the power of prayer.

I wish also to say thanks to the person who sent me an email and shared some about his daughter. He has no idea how much his daughters story matches Annie's, even in details which I did not reveal here in the forum. It was uncany when I read his email in how things matched.

While he did not post a response here online his email ment a GREAT deal and I'll be writing back when I get a few min..

Again thanks to each of you. We are each in the Father's hands and He will bear us up in every circumstance.

In Christ,

Richard

Hi, I'm Francine and new here to the Forum. Grew up SDA, but my entire birth family left that cult to follow Jesus under the Holy Spirit's sweet influence in the early 80's. God is so faithful and good and holy... I could go on and on!

As I read through the posts I stopped and prayed for each request, remembering the words of Jesus in John 16:33 - "I have spoken these things to you so that in me you might have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world." I LOVE that special promise. It gets me through the worst of days (and the best ones too). Life is a precious gift from our Creator and we know that He does all things well. Your stories touched my heart and I know they've touched God's heart too.

Richard, my husband Mark and I have a beautiful, gifted, funny, talented, artistic grown daughter in her late 20's with bi-polar disorder who lives with us (for now). Some very special challenges have come our way as a family as we've sought to honor God with all our hearts in all decisions. It is truly a day-by-day journey as God holds us in HIS hands and we walk accordingly. His hands are very, very big & somethimes we feel lost and alone, but He never lets go. (John 10:27-30). God honors those who honor Him. He makes His presence known in the midst of your pain and He will make something beutiful out of your daughter's life in His time, not yours. [I'm preaching to the choir on this one as I talk to myself!]

I prayed especially for Lisa's family visit and the church service tomorrow... for the Holy Spirit to calm, protect and embolden Lisa for the glory of God in Jesus Christ! I look forward to reading the posts next week and seeing how God has glorified Himself in each situation.

Yesterday a thought came to me as I meditated on Scripture. The verse where it says that heaven is God's throne and the earth is his footstool cause me to think, "Okay, then were is his head? He really DOES fill the universe! WOW!" He sees all, hears all, knows all, and loves us more than we can imagine. Let His grace dwell in you richly.

Grafted in the Vine and hangin' in there,
Francine

Dear Everybody,

Thank you for your prayers. The visit went great.. only a few times the issue of FOOD of all things was a topic of attempted argumentation, but other than that, there was no argumentation. God is powerful, and able to do amazing things when we ask.

Please pray for my sister Becky. She broke her neck in an auto accident Father's Day, is able to walk PRAISE GOD and use her right hand, but her left is curled up tight into her palm, she can't pull it out and it's very painful for her. She's doing therapy, but told me she's never lacked motivation in her life, and now is having great difficulty even wanting to work on her hand (the exercises given her by her therapist) SO my other sister, mom and I are giving Becky the gift of bearing her burdens by writing out a work out for ourselves and being accountable to each other as to whether we did the work out or not, keeping in mind all the while that Beckyís battling pain while she's doing her work out, we are just battling get off our back sides. Please pray for her this winter. She really loves God and is relying on Him. She just seems depressed.

And also pray for my brother in law from another family. He seems really depressed, disillusioned and unmotivated at living life to it's fullest.

I was able to see my family for who they are, living under THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH and in need of LOVE AND SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT.

God Be Praised

Lisa B-D

PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE DAUGHTER BATTLING DRUGS. God has healed thousands who have gone before her and won. Tough love is the only way, I will pray he gives you the strength to love her that good.

There are some things coming up soon in my life that are challenging. I find myself recognizing again how much depends on God. Please join me in praying that He will continue to work in my life and the lives of my family, and that I will be able to leave it in His hands!

Sorry I'm not more explicit!

Blessings,

Mary

Our heavenly Father, we pray tonight that you will be with Richard's daughter Annie and her challenge with drugs, and strengthen Richard and his family in a special way. We pray for Diana's associate at work with seizures, and that your healing touch be on her. We pray that you will be with Lisa's sister Becky, as she goes through that painful therapy with her left hand. We also pray for her brother-in-law that is depressed and discouraged at this time. Lord, be with Mary in a special way regarding the upcoming challenges in her life and give her special strength. We pray these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Jeremy, Thank-you so much for your concern. I am o.k. I will have computer access for two weeks now as I am staying at my sons house babysitting my grandchildren for two weeks while their mother is at her native country. It's really a wild ezxperience watching a seven year old and two two year olds. Shontay, I really like the response you have given to the agruementive SDA's. My stragety is generally to "fall asleep" or need to leave promptly. Speeking of being of the SDA arguementive type, just yesterday a SDA loved one of mine was expousing the wonders and knowledge of Doug Batchleor to me. I responded that my favorite (You'll like this, Belva.) t.v. preacher is Dr. Gene Scott. Of course, my SDA loved one had never heard of Dr. Scott which just adds to my conviction of the total hold Adventism has on its members, keeping them voluntarily away from any other Christians, another hallmark of a cult is the exclusiveness. Anyway, she asked me what his ministry was about and I explained that he was a language specialist and he takes a passage and goes to the origional language the passage was wrritten in and gives a comprehensive interpertation of the meaning of the language so we can fully understand the meaning of the passage. After I had said this the SDA response to me was, "Yeah, and he probably puts the comma in the wrong place making it seem like after we die we go to heaven. Is that what he teaches about death?" I replied I wasn't sure as I'd never heard him preach on that topic but I'd assume so as that is how most Christians understand it. The SDA reply was that if someone teaches wrong about the state of the dead there is no truth in them so nothing else they say should be given any thought of and she said "good-by" and we mutually hung up the phone with each other. I am so looking forward to meeting so m any of you all in February. Again, Jeremy, thanks for being concerned about me.

Dear Susan, I do love it! Tell your friend that when Dr. Scott teaches he doesn't need punctuation marks because the original languages had the ability to make the point perfectly without punctuation. Punctuation is a modern creation.

I've not heard Dr. Scott teach on that particular statement of the Savior's on the cross, as he seems to concentrate on the teachings of Paul. We all know that Paul makes most SDA's nervous, so that will cause your SDA friend to cringe, too. I'll have to looking into Dr. Scott's teaching about the word nephish (spirit, soul). He will follow the use of that particular word throughout scripture to get the full range of it's meaning, but I can tell you now that it is not simply talking about the act of breathing. By the way, there is an enigmatic scriptural mention of whales having nephish, which is the special term given to the soul that was breathed into man at creation--God breath, or living/eternal breath. This comment about whales is found, I believe, in the creation account in Genesis.

Please add to your prayer lists my brother George, who is recovering from rotator cuff surgery. The surgery was successfully completed yesterday. Having undergone the same surgery, I know the road to recovery can be long and tedious. For his sake, I pray that everything goes swimmingly.

I have had rotator cuff injuries, but never any surgery. I have also done therapy with them. I have put him on my prayer list.

I received an e-mail from an old friend in VA. He found out he has a small cell carcinooma that is almost touching his chest wall. They cannot tell if it is attached. If it is attached to the chest wall it is inoperable. It is baseball size. Please remember JS in your prayers.
Thanks for your prayers.
