Melissa, WOW! 16 years old. I realize it's been a challanging 16 years. At the same time as a parent of two very challanging children I can say that I have had my joyful times with my kids. I used to in total anguish scream (plead) out to God asking how come of all the prospective parents on this earth how come He chose me to be the parent to those two. Then one night as I was crying, begging, generally whinning to God like a bolt from heaven God placed on my heart that I needed to learn patience. I immediatelly was overcome with a calm like I'd never before experienced and after that moment I dealt with my son(s) differently than I prevesouly had. I still ended up having the one institutationalized at age 14 and the other at age 11 but I had a different attitude about my lot in life in my heart after that. Always though the hardest part of the entire ordeal was all the "well meaning" relatives who felt such a need to let me know how I should handle each situtation. I pretty much learned what kin to avoid. I know your love for Rachel is great and I'm sure her love for you is great, too. I know the bond is strong. Mary, it's great you got your own washer and dryer. Be prepatred for your gas and electrisity bills to go way up. Richard, I remember Anne every night in my prayers. | ||

I do not know where to put this, but this is a partial answer to prayer. My son, who is stationed at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas, was telling me that when he and his wife attend church, they go to the base chapel on Sunday morning. Thank you God!!! When they first arrived in Little Rock, they attended the local SDA church. He called me a week or so later. In our conversation he told me that the adventism he learned from me is not what the SDA church teaches. What I did not realize at the time was that God was telling me what to do to raise my son. So I read to him from the Bible, did not teach him about EGW, and took him out of SDA school so he would not get brainwashed. Thank you God. His name is still on the church books and he still does not see the cult aspects of the SDA church. But at least he is not immersed in the SDA doctrine. Diana, The only reason I started going to a Sunday church was because I refused to take my kids to the adventist church because I didn't want them afraid and because of the bad things I was aware of happening in the church. I wanted them to go to church though because I never went to church growing up. I figured a little church for them would be enough, I didn't feel threatened by the Sunday church entirely. They wouldn't go to the Sunday church with just my husband so I had to go. I've been going for a while and the messages didn't sink in, all the praising didn't sink in. My husband said he wanted our daughter to be saved and he recently told me he wondered why I looked at him with a blank stare. He has been around adventism a long time and didn't know the doctrine. Who was going to tell him, he was a Baptist.. Anyway, all of my confusion, especially regarding the adventist church, and in my life, is gone. My works did nothing for me, they were a burden, but my prayers have been answered. It has taken a long time in terms of years, but it is different in God's time. I'll pray for you to be patient, but I believe your prayers will be answered entirely, even if it takes another 20 years! I appreciate you and Colleen. Lynne | ||

Thank You Lynne for praying for patience for me. I have my son and 4 sisters and 3 brothers for whom I want to pray. I just turn them over to God and do not try to rush Him. I know that in His time each one of my Family will come to Him. He knows best how to get to each individual and however He wants to use me, is fine with me. I do not have to see the results right now, because God knows what the results are and He is the important one here. It took God 63 years to get to me. I really have to say that He is very awesome. Answered prayer report: Our son was born Dec. 22 weighing 7 lb, 12 oz. I nearly missed it because I was going to get something to eat when my wife phoned me and told me to get back to the hospital. I ran into the room where they were setting up for the pushing portion of labor. Maybe ten minutes and 4 pushes later the little guy was out. The doctor arrived after me just in time to complete the delievery which the nurse had started. Praise God that Mom and baby are doing great. My wife hasn't needed any pain meds at all and was feeling so good that we took him to church on Sunday. What a difference from last time where she pushed two hours and could hardly walk or sit for days after. Heretic | ||

Belva, Here are the stats: 7 lbs, 12 oz, 20.5 inches. Yeah, I don't know how Stan did that. Creepy.  Thanks for all the congrats guys. We're blessed in that he is mostly sleeping through the night except for getting up once to eat for 45 minutes or so. Last night my wife and I each got around 8 hours of sleep. Heretic | ||

Carol, Thanks for the well wishes. Actually this is our second (and last) child. Our first was more fussy than this one but did start sleeping 6-7 hours straight when he was 24 days old. Our oldest is so excited to finally have a sibling as we'd been trying 4.5 years for number two after it taking only two months with the first. It was very discouraging and we were this close to giving up, especially after the miscarriage a year ago, but God had other plans. Thanks again and God bless. Heretic | ||

Thank you all so much for praying for my "talks". I actually spoke to three different groups of people in the last week. One group was threatening to me, and I could really experience being held up in prayer, as I was able to communicate my love for Jesus to a challenging audience. The feedback made it clear that the Holy Spirit was present. During my last talk today, to my CBS group, I was speaking of my experience of studying John the last 5 months. When I began to pray at the beginning, I mentioned in my prayer that I had a lot to say, but that Jesus said in three words what I wanted to speak of, "IT IS FINISHED". When I spoke the words, I was moved to tears. Anyway, I never referred to my outline, but just spoke of my experience in understanding John 1:1-4 and 2 timothy 1:9. "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, NOT according to our works, but according to HIS OWN PURPOSE and GRACE, which was GIVEN us in Christ Jesus BEFORE the world began" The talk was so straight from the Holy Spirit, and I helieve it was probably given to me for ME. Something about sharing it all outloud, cemented something in my understanding. I felt like I was discovering truths as I was speaking them. I dont know if I am making sense to anyone but myself and God in this explanation, but in any case, I praise God for what he revealed to me, and I praise Him for those of you who lifted me up in prayer over these talks. Javagirl, Thanks for sharing those experiences. As I said on another thread, it has been exciting to watch your new experience of discovering God's wondrous grace in salvation. I love that scripture you quoted from 2 Tim 1:9 'He has saved us not by our own works, but according to HIS own purpose and grace which was planned before the world began'. That says it all, Stan |
