I could sure use your prayers right now.

Weds, as I was driving to the bank, I had a bad coughing attack (it's the time of year in Georgia when everything turns yellowish green from all the pollen, and my allergies get pretty bad.) I coughed so bad it brought on a migraine. I don't have a history of migraines, and this was so intense I was vomiting and spent quite some time sitting in my car in a parking lot wanting to die. I finally called 911.

Had to go to the emergency room, and even morphine would not cut the pain. They finally had to give me something (don't remember the name,) that they said is their absolute strongest painkiller. Had a CAT scan and it was negative. Nothing going on in my brain.

After going home I have experienced three more attacks of the migraine. It's like a vicious cyle, migraine starts, causes vomiting which makes the migraine worse from the exertion (sp?) If I don't take painkillers every four hours it rears it's extremely ugly head again.

Am going to go in to see a neurologist, but ask for your prayers. I've never experienced this kind of pain. I truly wish I could die when it hits.

Also, any of you doctors, if you have any insights, I'd appreciate them. I'm searching the internet, and have learned a migraine can last days. I'm at just over 48 hours with this. Also, I do have a lot of junk in my sinuses from the allergies/pollen. I just want to know this is going to pass!

Thanks for your prayers, I love you guys.

Carol, as a fellow-migraine sufferer, I so sympathize with what you're saying. I've had mine for years and still am learning to deal with the symptoms ... just Monday I myself pulled over 3 times on the way to work sure I was going to vomit, but never did. Oddly enough, the most effective medicine for me has been sinus allergy medicines. Even when I have not felt congested, the pain has always seemed in one spot, and I use the generic brand of co-tylenol, but it has a pain killer and decongestant in it. It does make me drowsy sometimes, but it does the job. Another effective treatment for mine sometimes is alleve...again, I use the generic, and it works good enough when I'm out of the other. I don't know that either will be helpful for you as it seems each migraine sufferer has it's own chemistry, but I stumbled onto mine by accident and was thrilled to have something to help with the pain that wasn't narcotic or prescription.

Also, mine last anywhere from 1.5 days to 3 days. The intensity varies, and sometimes I have some intense light sensitivity. I know that "want to die" pain. I've had mine for 13 years. Started when I was pregnant with my middle child and I got a sinus infection. I had never had pain like that before, and didn't appreciate it became a frequent visitor. Mine seem almost cyclical. They come around every 3 - 5 weeks.

I've learned to recognize the onset and get myself drugged up accordingly. I began to feel bad taking pain killers after meeting B because he says people take them because they're too whimpy to endure a little pain, but I finally got over that guilt trip. He wasn't the one living with the pain. If meds help you, take them. There are certainly people in the world who abuse medications, but then there are those of us who they were created to help. If these become a long-term facet of your life, it is the only way you will be functional if you're anything like me.

I am no doctor, and none of this is intended to be deemed as anything more than my experiences. I pray yours will be a short-lived event in your life.

Carol, praying for you, and for you, too, Melissa.

BTW, B's attitude about pain meds is quite a typical reaction from true-blue Adventists. I don't believe most of them even realize it's an attitude that came from Ellen, but she is the one who said one shouldn't take meds. I know that the historic-type Adventists in my life (as well as those raised by them!) have all had deep aversions to pain meds.

God in Heaven,

Pain is something so abnormal for a perfect place secure in your love. I ask you to give the determination to these ladies that you gave your own son when He endured pain for us. Thank you for being the God of change, the God of healing, the God of eventually making all things right. I trust you with their pain. Give them what they don't have... all of what they donít have and need, that being YOU.

In Your Son Jesus Name,
Amen

Please keep Carol and her family in your prayers. Her situation is serious. Please pray for her doctors/surgeons. She is seeking further dianosis, including a biopsy this evening, and likely neurosurgery tomorrow.

She is such an inspiration in her strong faith, and love for her Father God. She is praying for the will of God, that God be Glorified, and that her family will have the peace that she has. She is still hurting, despite heavy medication.

If anyone has a personal note or prayer to pass along to her, you may email me, and I will print them out and take them to the hospital. 4excape@bellsouth.net
I will also print out any responses posted here.

The presence of God is very strong in her, and even in her hospital room. She is blessed with dedicated Believing nurses and doctors thus far, and a wonderful husband, and many friends. Please keep her daughter, stepchildren, and family in your prayers as well.

Father in Heaven, You are the Great Physician, so I am asking you to be with the doctors and Carol and her family right now. You know what is the matter with her and what is causing her migraines. Do what is best for her. Of course, I would like to see her healed with you getting all the praise, honor and glory. Hold the surgeons hands as they work on her and hold her and her family in your awesome arms. Comfort them and let them know that you are there.
Thank you God for Carol and her contributions here.
As always God you are awsome.
