Free,
I am so glad the Lord is providing for you, it could be a very frightening time. As I was making my decision to leave Adventism, I said to my wife more than once that I was so thankful that I wasn't employed by the church. It is an extremely difficult choice you make when you have to leave denominational employment to follow Jesus!

We are told over and over to seek the Lord in prayer, and to follow the Lord's leading. Listen to that still small voice, be true to your beliefs...etc. You have done that.

Welcome to the greater Body of Christ. May the Lord continue to lead you as you share the Good News of God's grace.

For a powerful prayer, dig out your SDA hymnal and turn to page 538, "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah". Read or sing the words to all 3 verses. It will bolster your heart and lift your soul. In my head I hear a powerful brass choir.

Peace, Randy

I'm chuckling, Randy--once a musician, always a musicianóand I agree; there's nothing like a powerful brass choir! It would be a perfect medium for "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah".

I'm continuing to pray for you and your family, too.

I have a prayer and praise request from a very dear "from the cradle" friend. Carolynn and Ray became formers about five years ago, and transitioned into a healthy Bible-teaching church almost immediately. A classmate had sent Proclamation to Carolynn, and the next time we visited them she asked an honest question concerning salvation assurance. That opened the door I had been praying would open for a long time. "Would you be interested in reading some of the books, that speak to these issues?" She said yes, and when I got home I called Dale and had books sent. They read through everything, almost nonstop and spent their first "glorious" Easter at the Ev Free church in Turlock.
My prayer request is this, and this is with her permission - Ray is dying of Cancer and has just been brought home on Hospice. Carolynn quit her job and is taking care of him and spending time savoring the time left. For her, I would request that she know the emotional comfort and presence of Jesus, and His strength to carry out all that physically needs to be done. Ray said he would like me to post this on the forum, but he wanted his request to be a "praise" that he now knows Jesus as a personal friend and Savior and KNOWS exactly where he will go when death comes.
They are both very open with each other and this is a comfort. Carolynn told me that despite the tears in her eyes and lump in her throat there is peace in her heart.
Another thing that is a sweet blessing, when the hospice nurses came out this week to do an assessment they asked Carolynn is she had a church or if she wanted a referral to the Hospice chaplain. She told them she had a church, and the two nurses both went there! God is good, and he knew all these things since the beginning of time. I hope this isn't too long for a prayer request, but it will be ongoing and I so appreciate your prayers. Thanks, Jan

Jan, I will be praying for your friends. My heart longs for the day when death and disease are no longer able to separate us from the ones we love. Dear Jesus, please help Carolynn and Ray to continue to feel your close presence, and that inspite of their heartache they would find such a joy and comfort and peace in you and each other. We praise you that although death may separate them for a short time, they will be reunited again one glorious day in your kingdom. Amen!

Jan,
I will be praying for Ray and Carolynn. Thanks for sharing this story. Only because of the hope that we have in Christ, is it possible to even call this a praise report, knowing that this life is only the beginning of a glorious eternity to spend together with Him.

Jan, I will also be praying for Ray and Carolyn. It makes me feel a bit teary to think of Ray saying this is a praise because He now knows Jesus and knows where he will go. Jesus is Lord even of deathóand those who know Him will never die!

He is so faithful.

Jan, praying also for Ray and Carolyn. What a testimony to the peace that God gives.

Jan,
I am remembering Ray and Carolyn in my prayers. Praise God Ray knows where he is going. That brings him great peace at a time like this.
Father in Heaven, be with Your children Ray and Carolyn at this time. Thank you that both of them know Jesus Christ. Hold them in your awesome arms at this time.

I just have to repeat John 11:25..."I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."

My d-i-l and oldest grandchild will be flying to their native country tonight so please pray for safe and uneventful travel. Also, safe travel for us as we drive them to the airport. Also, this d-i-l is having a serious health condition that should have immediate intervention and she refuses to alter her vacation plans to take care of her pressing health issue that could turn out to be quite devistating. Please pray for me too as for the next five weeks I will be solo babysitting two three year olds. Their mother will be in her native country and their father has something with his military assignment so he will be at a base far from me and the twins. It's been a long time since I've taken care of such young children all alone. Thank-you all very much for the prayers.

Susan,
I will remember to pray for your d-i-l as she travels, as you drive her to the airport, for her health, for your son and for you as you babysit two 3 year olds. I also continue to pray for your other sons.
What fun you will have with the babies.

Latest update on the current events-my son is stuck in a faraway city and can't make it back to get his wife and oldest child to the airport. That means it falls on me. I will be driving those horrible LA freeways alone with the twins. I did not envision so much responsibility with young children at this age and stage in my life. Oh, the twists and turns life bring our way. What an adventure!

Pathology on my mother's tumor came back and it seems her tumor was one of the very rare (fewer than 5%), but curable pancreatic cancers. Oncologist said she didn't even have to do chemo if she didn't want to. It is quite good news for her. I am thankful to be able to share this news with you and know you petitioned God's grace on her behalf. Thank you.

On another front, though, some less than happy things are happening and I am really struggling with anger and bitterness and overwhelming grief. I truly want God to be glorified in the situation, yet am so afraid to trust that any of it could turn out a little bit positive for me too. I only need the grace to endure what will come, and the self-control to let God do his work, but......I am so greedy for more...

Wanted to share a cool website to Jan and Peggy, and others who have friends with serious illness, or all you health care professionals!

This is FREE, and EASY to set up, for those who have the need. Go to this link, then click on ABOUT CARINGBRIDGE. Of course I hope you will pray for Andrew as well. Loved the prayer vigil stuff that was set up for him. http://www.caringbridge.org/al/andrewlong/index.htm

Melissa, praising God for the report on your mother. I will pray re the other stuff as well. Ill pray not only for grace to endure, but abundant blessings for you, more than you can ask or imagine.

Praying Susan, for endurance! And blessings.

Melissa, so glad to hear about your Mom. My mom died of pancreatic cancer that had metastisized to her liver and lungs. This was 4 years ago. Now that I know about your mother you can see why I just said I would pray for your Mom. God knows your other situation and it is all in his hands. My pastor quoted Ex 13:17-18"....So God led the people by the roundabout way of the wilderness roward the Red Sea." As I look back on my life I see where God led me on a roundabout way to Him. Maybe that is what is happening to you right now. Just remember Rom 8:28 "and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose."
God is always awesome.

I got an email tonight from Jan who posts as InsideOutsider. A few days ago she requested prayer for their friends Ray and Carolynn; Ray was dying of cancer, and they knew time was short.

Jan is currently attending the birth of their younger son's first child, so she couldn't post herself, but she wrote and asked me to post a prayer request for her. Ray went to be with the Lord yesterday; the funeral will be this next Thursday.

She would like us to pray for Carolynn, and I'd like also for us to pray for Jan and her husband as they travel back from their son's home in another state and then up to the funeral this week.

Thank you!

Colleen

Prayed for Carolyn and will continue to remember her in prayer. Have done the same for Jan and her husband as they travel, then go to the funeral.
