I love the way that former SDA Dr. Geoffrey Drew puts it: God allowed us to eat meat for our survival! :-)

Belva and Lisa,
You continue in my prayers.
I have an eating disorder as well, but so far, THANK YOU GOD, it has not acted up.
Thanks for all your prayers. God is so awesome in providing friends, most of whom I only know by the internet, who pray for each other.

Carol asked me to thank you all for responses to her praise report awhile back.

She is still struggling with her vision--the improvement is painfully slow. She is unable to read, so coming to the forum is out, as well as any enjoyment or distraction from reading.

She is finally home, and goes to outpatient rehab 9-5 daily. She is able to get around in a wheelchair fairly well, although it is painful. Se has developed blod clots in her leg, which is scary, and causes a lot of pain, and slows down her therapy. Not to mention more medicine...

This talk of food reminded me of how much we take for granted. Carol is unable to SEE the food on her plate--therefore, when she is finally able to "stab" food onto her fork, she doesnt know what she is eating till she tastes it. Add to that the "institutional" food. I tried some of it from her plate a few times, and couldn't imagine how she could eat that for a couple or months!

Please keep her and Wayne in your prayers. In addition to all the above, they have a constant battle with insurance, all the disability stuff, battle for appropriate care, mounting medical bills...You get the picture.

Your prayers have been a great support. She loves to have your emails and prayers read to her. Wayne has started a scrapbook. Her faith is amazing and inspiring. God has blessed in so many ways, and I cant wait till she is able to tell you all about that.

I know I have witnessed the miraculous power of God through all of this, in sparing Carol's life, in the miracle of the vanishing tumor, and in minute by minute immediate answers to prayers on many different occasions. Praise you Jesus!

Lori,

There is so much many of us take for granted each day. I am also continuing to pray for Carol and Wayne. I will pray for the financial struggles they are having. I pray that Jesus carries Carol and her family through this.

Hi All,
I don't know what prayer to ask for. A few short weeks ago I was overjoyed that I had gotten a good report on my cancer situation. I wanted to make the best use of the time I had been given. I joined a Bible study group, and started looking for a church to worship in.
A little over a week ago I came crashing back to earth. It began when I got a call from the seniors home my mom lives in. She has alzheimer's disease. They told me she had a mini-stroke. She now sleeps most of the time and has stopped eating.

Two days later, one of my dogs got sick and was passing blood and in a lot of pain. We took her to the vet and there was nothing they could do to cure her. We had to have her put to sleep. We took her home and buried her. It was very difficult.
The worst came last week. I got a call that my brother Pat, who lived in Alberta, 4000+ miles from here, and has been battling cancer for a long time, had a stroke. At the hospital they discovered his cancer was back. They tried to treat him, but he slipped into a coma and died.

So, you see, I really don't know what, or even how to pray right now. I feel like I'm in the middle of a bad dream. I just want to wake up.

I have learned that there are all kinds of pain and there are worse things than cancer.
I am trying to hang on to Jesus.

Toria,
I just prayed for you after I read about what has happened to you and your family. Some times we do not understand why God allows things to happen, but while it is happening God is holding you up. Continue to hang on to Jesus.
He is so awesome.

Dear Father,
Please lift up Toria at this moment. Wrap her in your love and assurance that You are there with her and family. I pray that you will give her the strenth to face these hard days, knowing that no matter what, You will never leave her. In Jesus name we pray and ask this for her.

Toria,
I am praying. I know from experience that when I cant hold on to God, or as you said, dont even know how or where to start praying, that God is faithful to hold on to us. In fact, when we "let go" he is there to hold us. Let "deep cry out to deep".

Jesus is in heaven interceeding for you right now, as he lives to interecede for you. I will pray with the father on your behalf.

Abba, fill Toria with your Spirit. Let her experience your hand and your presence. May she know that you can handle her pain, questions, and fears. Grant her mercy and Grace to sustain her during this time. I pray for your healing presence to enfold her. In Jesus name.

Toria, I also will be praying for you.

Dear Father, please hold Toria and comfort her. Please fill her heart with You, and help her to feel You with her, holding her in peace and hope. I also pray for her husband, that he will be able to be deeply supportive and the he will be drawn to You. Help him also to feel Your mercy and comfort and strength, and please open his heart to You.

Thank you, Father, for your faithfulness and presence. than you that Toria is in Your hand and also in Jesus' hand, and nothing can take her out of Your double-grip.

I praise You for being in control. In Jesus' name.

Toria,

I will pray for you and your family. It does happen sometimes that things change fast. Matthew 5:4 - Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Prayer Request:
I would like to ask for prayer for my dental assistant. Yesterday, she went to the hospital for severe abdominal pain. After lots of tests, exams, and a contrasting cat scan, they determined the cause of her pain is a "mass" the size of a small cantaloupe. This tumor has attached itself to the wall of her bladder and kidney. She's been nauseous, and has been running a low grade fever for the past week (symptoms of which she thought was the stomach flu).

They are trying to schedule her for immediate surgery within these next couple of days. Her doctor told her that an oncologist will be present during the surgery.

All of this is very sudden, shocking, and of course scary. To top it off, her husband was taken to the emergency room today from work for a possible heart attack (they are still running tests to find out what happened with him).

I have worked with her and known her for 5 years, and although she's my employee, she's way more than that to me -- she's become a really close friend. Her family has kind of become my family over the years.

The obvious prayer request is for complete healing, a successful surgery, and that the mass isn't cancer. But another prayer request is that she and her family come to know Jesus. They have been "on the edge" for quite awhile. They have visited church with me before, and we've had numerous discussions about taking that step to being a Christ-follower. This fall, my assistant was going to start attending Bible study with me.

Please keep her and her family in your prayers. I believe there is much more to this than just a bombardment of health problems. But, I also know that God is greater than any fears and "distraction".

Praise:
I have to share a huge, miraculous praise related to this too. Last night, when my assistant called and told me what was going on, my husband and I had to talk about what we were going to do at the office. We have a very small dental office with one front office person, and one back office person. When one person is out, it makes it very difficult to keep functioning without making some adjustments to the schedule. And with such short notice, it is very difficult to find a temporary assistant. So we had determined we would have to reschedule our difficult procedures for now until we could get help, even if it meant losing some patients, income, etc. The thought was overwhelming actually since we didn't know how long it would be before we could find a temporary assistant (our assistant will probably be out for at least 6 weeks), and what the long term plan was. But, after praying about it, I just felt really calm and peaceful.

This morning, on my way to work, a dentist friend of mine called (someone I used to work as an associate for), and said that her office has been really slow lately, and she was having a hard time keeping her large staff busy, and financially it was becoming a burden. She said she really needed to temporarily let someone go (for just a month to get back on track), but was worried about it and didn't really want to do this to this particular person, and didn't feel it was fair to her. She said she had been praying for a solution. So she called to ask me if I needed additional help at my office (so she wouldn't have to let this assistant go) just until her office picked back up. I can't even begin to tell you what it did to see God take care of me right before my eyes with His perfect timing. When I told my dentist friend my sudden predicament with my assistant, and how we definitely needed someone right now, she was amazed too. God answered both of our prayers simultaneously. He's so efficient! To top it off, I already knew this assistant (from working at that office before), and of all the assistants at that office, she was my favorite assistant to work with. Anyway, she started today with us (this afternoon). How AWESOME is our God!! He arranges things even before we know we need things arranged. Anyway, that's a huge praise!!! I don't know if I've ever witnessed anything quite so obvious like that before. He is so faithful to take care of us.

Grace,
It reminds me of "before you call, I will answer and while you are yet speaking. I will hear." I think, if I remember correctly that is from Jeremiah. God is awesome. WOW.
A prayer for your assistant: Father in heaven, You are the Great Physician. You know what has happened to this assistant and her husband. Hold them in your awesome arms and let them know that you love them. Bring them close to you.

A prayer request for my brother in Helena, Montana. My sister in law called yesterday morning. My brother was in the VA hospital with some kind of infection and it had not been determined what it was. He stayed there last night also and I have not heard from either of them. My brother is very over weight and I am concerned about him. Remember him in your prayers, please. He and I are very close.

I just spoke to my brother in Montana. He is out of the hospital. The doctor's still do not know what caused his temperature to go up. He did tell me he is pre diabetic, so he still needs lots of prayers to lose weight.
Thanks for your prayers.

Just checking in to let you know how things are and to THANK YOU ALL for your prayers. And thank you for reminding me that God is faithful to hold on to us even, or especially, when things are darkest. I also thank you for being there to talk to. I can't mention prayer or Jesus or anything like that to most of my family as they get all uncomfortable and distant. I can pray for them, but not with them.
A couple of days ago I heard a song that also brought comfort. I don't remember all of it but it went like this:
You may ask me how I know my Lord is real
You may doubt the things I say and doubt the way I feel
But I know he's real today He'll always be
I can feel His hand in mine and that's enough for me.
I will never walk alone He holds my hand
He will guide each step I take
And if I fall I know He'll understand
Till the day He tells me why He loves me so
I can feel His hand in mine
That's all I need to know.

I feel more in control again. I am spending a lot of time at the nursing home with mom. They put a cot in her room for me. She is there in body only. The nurses say it could be a week or an hour. It's hard to tell.
I came home this morning at 4:00am. I had to get in my own bed for a while. I am having trouble with my lower back. There is swelling on my back about the size of my hand and very thick. I try not to think of it, but will have to go and see my doctor soon. It may be because I am not getting much rest and am on my feet a lot. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

I am praying for your brother Diana.
Grace, I am also praying for your assistant. And thank you for reminding me of something I have always known. Prayer Works.
Thanks again to all of you.
Blessings
toria
