Dale Ratzlaff has requested prayer for his wife Carolyn. She has an ongoing medical concern which has neccessitated her no longer working. Please pray for her as she is suffering discouragement as well as physical discomfort.

Also, Jesse remains in a coma although now that the sedatives have been removed, he does respond to pain stimuli and apparently somewhat to his father's voice. Thank you for your prayers for him and also for Roy.

Thanks for the update on Jesse. God is good and Jesse is responding to his father's voice.
I will continue to pray for him and will pray for Carolyn.
God is so awesome.

Diana, I am going to have to start a prayer list myself to keep track! Praying for all the recent requests.

Praying for Carolyn and Dale about the medical concern, and for all the rest of you on the staff/board of FAF. You are appreciated.

I'm glad that Jesse has shown some improvement. I'll continue to pray for him, Carolyn R., and the other prayer requests here on the forum.

Just an update on my friend from Church (fell off a ladder). He is still in a coma, and now has pneumonia. They have done a trach, and are moving him to a different ICU. We all just continue to pray and wait. It's so hard. But there are lots of friends and family supporting each other, which does help a bit. Unless there is a change, there is nothing more we can do for now. Thanks for all your prayers.

Praying, Tisha.

Jesse gave a "thumbs up" last night and this AM when they reduced sedation to check his responses. The neruologist is hopeful, we learned todayólargely because of his improvement. Apparently his admitting scans showed that there was severe brain damage, and subsequent scans have shown basically no change (including no increasing damage). There is some sort of scale used to measure brain activity alertness that goes from 1 to 15. 11 to 15 are in the conscious range; last night and this AM he was measured at a 10. When he came in on Sunday, he was at a 3.

We all keep praying for each other.

Colleen and Tisha,
I'll continue praying for Jesse and your friend from church. I'm praying for your friend's pneumonia and his condition, that Jesus will heal his body and give him strength. Also, I'm praying that Jesse will keep showing positive improvement and to give his family and friends peace and strength.

I asked for prayers for me because I was to have an appointment with my sister with a counselor on Sat, Oct 21 at 9 AM. She refused to acknowledge my e-mail and has resorted to sending mail, so her answer will not get here in time. I cancelled the appt. Please continue to pray for her as she needs to know Jesus. She does not see that this is spiritual warfare and I do. Thanks for all your prayers.
Our God is so awesome.

Just an update on Roy's rommmate, Jesse. He is out of his coma and is communicating. Each day his speech seems more "normal"óless slurredóand his conversation is less "random". He is remembering people, although he can't remember names of people he didn't know well. He seems to be able to recall distant past memories; memories more recent seem more vague.

Today he was able to sit and eat, feeding himself, and did not choke. He's still on resistricted thin fluids because of choking.

No one knows his long-term prognosis, of course, but his improvement is noticable and miraculous. The family faces decisions of where to do rehab, etc. The family lives in Idaho; they must decide whether Jesse will have better rehab available in California or whether suitable treatment is available in Boise.

Thank you, all of you, for your prayers for this young man and his familyóI ask that you continue to pray that God will heal and direct them. There's a long road ahead, and the outcome is still uncertain. But he is alive, and he knows people! Praise God for what He has done and is doing.

God is so awesome in how He answers prayers.
I will continue to pray for him and his family and the best place for rehab.

Colleen,

That is a remarkable story about Jesse, and from what you say it seems like his prognosis may be good in the long run, but it is especially important that it is indeed well with his soul!

Hi everyone!

I have a prayer request: I will be undergoing exploratory abdominal surgery Monday am (10/23) and umbilical hernia repair at the same time (I am still recovering, though doing better, from an inguinal hernia back in July) so I am "freaking out" about yet additional surgery on top of all the 'probing and poking' I've been through this year to diagnose abdominal pain. Anyways, I have told my doctors I will not submit myself to additional procedures even if the pain continues after this surgery; so please pray that they'll find nothing major and I can just move on; I have 3 little ones to care for and a husband and would just like to return to some "normalcy." Sorry for the long post. I used to keep these things to myself but I keep finding that sharing and asking others for help can bring so many blessings. Thanks for taking of your time to care enough to pray for someone you don't really know. God bless!

I just wanted to share a blog Roy started to do updates on Jesse. If you're interested, here it is: http://www.thejesseblog.blogspot.com/

I think you'll find it surprisingly inspiring.

Thank you Colleen,
Of course, I am wondering what kind of therapy he is getting and who is doing it. I want to make sure the therapists are doing everything for him that can be done. That is just me.
God is awesome in all He does. Look at what he is doing for Jesse!!

Colleen,

Thanks for sharing Roy's blog on Jesse, and I really like this quote from his blog:

"Dave Olsen, a former MAF pilot who was my mentor for a year, shared the following text with me; it really encouraged me when I was in a difficult period of college life. Now I share it with you. If you know Jesus, these promises are for you, because you have been grafted into the root of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (see Romans 11).

But now, this is what the Lord saysó
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."
(from Isaiah 43, NIV)

... and the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered ..."

What a miraculous story so far, and praying for God's continued healing,

Stan

Olga,
I just wanted to tell you that I have lifted you up several times today. Your story touched me as I am going through something too. I have had some tests and keep having to wait for results. I imagine the most horrible results, and my mind goes crazy thinking of all the terrible possibilities that could happen.

I have poured out my soul to God, as I was absolutely paralyzed with fear. I know that fear is not from God. I read the Psalms over and over and underline what applies to my situation.

I also just want to go back to being "normal" and take care of my family. So I pray that God will give us peace and that we will have complete healing and that your surgery will be a success.

I feel that God is answering my prayers. He is wonderful!
Bb
