So powerful! Let's pray for this to spread like wildfire among sincerely questioning Adventists. And Colleen, I'm in total agreement that without admitting (and renouncing) this spiritual bondage and deception one can never be totally free. This is no doubt one reason why so many drop outs from Adventism end up in the wilderness of agnoticism. How many of us have friends and relatives who walked out of Adventism yet remain with tortured thoughts about leaving "the truth"? Aliza | ||

Richard, this is tremendously newsworthy! People need to know not only what is going on at your church, but they need to read that prayer. This should be written up as a press release should go into the Proclamation and be put on all the former SDA web sites, such as www.ellenwhite.org, www.ratzlaff.com, www.ex-sda.com, www.sdaoutreach.com, www.truthorfables.com, and any more I haven't thought of. It needs to be mentioned in blogs, on forums, etc. I can even see myself sending this to our local newspaper for the religion section. Also, the radio station in St. Louis that ran the interviews with former SDAs during the GC session last year might be interested in running a story about this. This is VERY POWERFUL INFORMATION! Would the people of your church cooperate with being the subject of a news release? | ||

I will pass this suggestion on to Cherry but I ask that nothing be done without a GREAT deal of prayer first. God has been quietly working for sometime with many friends, my prayer is that no one move ahead of God's timing. I understand your excitment and yes I'm excited seeing how God is leading but I'm also in prayer that I not react in the moment of excitment without seeking His will and timing. Much of what has happened at my church has happened because God has been working in peoples hearts over a period of time and they feel safe to open their hearts and ask questions. Many who are watching quietly from the sidelines see how God is working in the lives of other members and might very well pull back if it becomes the center of attention from the outside. Please don't use what God is doing with a few, who are seeking the truth, in a way the kills the very work that is happening. Remember the story of Peter when he cut off the ear of the High Priest's servant. when he decided he must take charge and do things his way. I don't believe God wants us to do things through the glare of publicity etc. etc. He wants us to let the Holy Spirit quietly work in the hearts of His childrean and heal them of the wounds and misconceptions of many years. As of now I think I had best not say more of how God is working if it will be used for publicity and possible damage the very work that God is doing in the lives of many of my friends. My friends are precious to me and to HIM. I want God to work powerful mircles in their lives and give them a clear picture of who HE is and His sovergein will in their lives. In Christ, Richard | ||

One clarification, it was not the entire church meeing and in study but a small group who felt they needed to examine the different foundational beliefs that they had held and decide for themselves what scripture taught. Richard | ||

Thank you God, for hearing and answering prayers. My dad was evaluated by his neurosurgeon, and it was decided he will only need outpatient surgery tomorrow morning--a brief proceedure to tuck the exposed wires back into his neck and stitch him up. No general anesthisia needed, no hospitalization. Most importantly, no infection found around the exposed wires in his neck, (The wires run from his chest to his brain, so infection could travel to brain quickly). Thanks all for praying. My mother had more peace in the wait, and I am very grateful for that. She has been through so much. Lori | ||

I have a follow-up answer to prayer regarding my wife Marti. Some of you may remember that she had a career ending stroke 2 years ago. One of the losses was complete deafness in her left ear, and because of previous genetic hearing loss, she could hear only minimally in her right ear, which was enhanced some by a hearing aid. She used to love music concerts, but she could no longer enjoy concerts because even beautiful sounding music sounded like noise and distortion to her. God answered one of our prayers when He graciously provided for her to have a cochlear implant last March, and she has slowly improved as her brain became accustomed to the implant. However, initially when we went to the symphony concerts at the old performing arts theater in Costa Mesa, Calif., she still had trouble hearing and enjoying good music. Well, as time has passed her hearing has improved, and through God's common grace that He gives to all of humanity, a beautiful new acoustically perfect performing arts theater has just opened in Costa Mesa. God provided us with perfect seating being able to view the entire orchestra, and miraculously the acoustics that have been created has allowed her to really ENJOY the music that was previously just noise to her. I was just thrilled for her, because as a music lover myself, I could not imagine not being able to hear music. You should have seen the look on her face after great stirring numbers like "76 Trombones led the big parade" and especially after Monica Mancini (do you remember her father Henry Mancini?) sang "Moon River", it was worth everything to me last night when she told me "I can't believe it, I can hear most of the instruments like never before." This is truly a miracle of God's grace that He has provided through modern medicine, and wonderful sound technology, and the music shared by one of the world's fine orchestras, the Orange County Pacific Symphony Orchestra. Soli Deo Gloria was an inscription on Bach's musicals during the Reformation, and, yes, we are repeating the same refrain today, Soli Deo Gloria (To God Alone be the Glory), Stan | ||

Ramone, that baby is going to be gorgeous!! You and your wife are a beautiful couple - congratulations!! And congratulations to you too Grace. What a blessing, huh?? I know I'm new to this section of the forum, but I just had a praise report that I wanted to share... My husband had some computers (at a hospital) go corrupt yesterday that he alone is responsible for repairing. He worked on it all day yesterday, last night, and early this morning. I prayed and prayed that God would help him figure it out and fix it, and encouraged the kids to do the same. Anyway, this morning while I was showering for church he came up, opened the shower curtain and gave me a kiss. I said "What's that for?" and he said "Thanks for your prayers - the computer's back up!" I said, "Don't thank me, thank God!!" The next thing he said was "I think I can go to church with you this morning, and I really wasn't planning to..." While I was showering I praised God and said "Lord thank you so much!! Please please reveal yourself to Wayne this morning at church. Please set him free from the bondage of SDAism" During our church service the reading today was Romans 3, starting with verse 20 - 20 "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. 21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify". Wayne physically threw his head back (as if surprised) and under his breath said "oh wow!" Now this is a small step, but it was HUGE for me, and for Wayne of course. Not only that, but the sermon was all about freedom in Christ! God is working on it! Thank you Jesus. I'm bursting inside. Thank's for letting me share, Leigh Anne |
