I totally understand. And it is especially hard when I see unbelieving relatives having life so easy. Expensive trips...no money problems, pool, boat, expensive cars...

I know God makes it rain on the wicked as well as His people...but man! I get discouraged sometimes!

I will be praying for you Tisha!

Dear Tisha,
I know exactly what you're feeling. Doubt is something I've struggled with (and still often struggle with!). In my life, it has definitely been a method for Satan to keep me discouraged and from submitting all of my worries and my entire life over to God. As I've often said in the past, sometimes I wish God would just present Himself as a burning bush to me--it would be so much easier to know He is present, real, and faithful!! I have found though, that it's in the daily "quieter" subtle ways that His presence and faithfulness has touched me the most. And when I look back on the entire situation as a whole picture, it becomes so obvious that all those "quiet" ways (where He almost seemed silent), adds up to an entire picture of His faithful, perfect plan. At the risk of sounding cheesy and cliche, when I do look back, I have found that in those moments of only "one set of footprints", He really was there with me the entire time, carrying me.

I'm praying for you, Tisha. I know exactly what you're feeling. More importantly, so does God. I promise you, He is right there with you, and He does care.

In women's Bible study this evening, they played a song by Selah called "Faithful One". Here are the lyrics:

I find no hope within to call my own
For I am frail of heart, my strength is gone
But deep within my soul is rising up a song
Here in the comfort of the faithful one

I walk a narrow road through valleys deep
In search of higher ground, on mountains steep
And though with feet unsure, I still keep pressing on.
For I am guided by the faithful one.

Faithful, faithful to the end,
My true and precious friend,
You have been faithful,
Faithful, so faithful to me

I see your wounded hands, I touch your side
With thorns upon your brow you bled and died
But thereís an empty tomb, a love for all who come
And give their hearts to you, the faithful one.

Faithful, faithful to the end,
My true and precious friend,
You have been faithful,
Faithful, so faithful to me

And when the day is dawned and when the race is run
I will bow down before Godís only Son
And I will lift my hands in praise for all youíve done
And I will worship you, my faithful one.

You're in my prayers,
Grace

Pheeki and Tisha, I'm also praying for you. Your posts reminded me of Hebrews 12:7-8: "Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons."

He is faithful. It is a great privilege to pray for each other.

From the Theology discussion under the: New Covenant, Colleen and Jdpascal were discussing Jesus being our Sabbath Rest. Quoting Jdpascal: "Over the past few months I have also been mulling over the idea that Jesusí invitation to ìcome unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you restî could possibly be seen as the lamented ìmissingî restatement of the 4th commandment in the New Testament."

Colleen replied: "Jdpascal, I believe you are absolutely right. In fact, our pastor uses Matthew 11:28 (Come unto me, all you who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest) as the evidence that Jesus Himself is our Sabbath rest."

I'd like to request a prayer that God would show my family that Jesus is in fact our Sabbath rest. Lately, I've seen God answering my prayers mostly prayers about me wanting to follow His will; He has been faithful to answer and that gives me hope He'll answer prayers for my family, specifically that He'll lead them into His truth. Please pray; I know He is faithful to open their eyes (I told my mother the other day that there was no way I could have seen it coming--but God showed me the way). Thanks for praying with me! He is faithful!

Sometimes reading some of the posts here I feel like my own troubles don't compare; sometimes I wonder why someone else gets more troubles and I'm spared (not to say I've had it easy but I haven't known what it is like to lose someone close to you, haven't had major troubles during the south Florida hurricanes, don't feel too healthy but would say I'm ok for now, haven't felt too tight financially, except for when I was in college and for sometime after graduation). Not sure where I'm headed with this; guess I want to say I can't know the pain some of you experience but I know I react badly to other people's pains and I cry when I read your posts just the way I cry when I hear the almost daily bad news that happens to others. When I hear these bad news I cry out to God: why? what is the point of all this pain? Then I pray for him to comfort those people I hear about and for him to come soon to end so much pain and despair.

I think I'm rambling but that's how I'm kind of praying God for all of you right now, my heart feels heavy for you and I pray for God's mercy to touch each one of you in a very special way. I don't know any of you but somehow I feel close to you. It must be a God thing. I wish I had a Bible verse to give to comfort each and everyone of you. The only thing that just popped up in my head was the verse that says: Jesus cried. I take it to mean, we're not alone in our pain.

God bless, keep the faith.

Pheeki, Grace, Olga, Colleen and everyone else praying for me - THANKS for your prayers and words of encouragement. It's so good to know that other Christians are there to pray for me when I get so discouraged. I know Satan is trying his hardest to cause me to doubt. I want to have great Faith, but seem to fall short many times. I'm praying for God to guide me in my decisions, but sometimes I just don't know which way to go. Anyway, thanks again for all your prayers.

Pheeki and Tisha, I have been praying. What came to me today for you was in my study of Phillipians, here is the verse
Phillipians 1:9...

9And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10so that you may be able to DISCERN what is BEST and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, FILLED WITH THE FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS that comes through Jesus Christóto the glory and praise of God. (emphasis mine).

May I suggest reading a short epistle start to finish? Philippians is only 4 chapters, and is a good one with emphasis on joy. Reading the WORD is the best thing for me when I have doubts or am discouraged.

Olga, what a beautiful post. I picture you like a burden bearer. Just as Jesus carried our sins away as the scapegoat, so I see you carrying the burdens of others away from them as you pray for them. Ive been learning a lot about intercessory prayer, and you just gave a great snapshot of that gift from God.

Hugs all
Lori

A few verses from the Bible about God's promises to us when we are overwhelmed. God is faithful to keep his promises.
***********************************************
From the New Century Version:

Ask, and God will give to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches will find. And everyone who knocks will have the door opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)

And this is the boldness we have in God's presence: that if we ask God for anything that agrees with what he wants, he hears us. If we know he hears us every time we ask him, we know we have what we ask from him. (1 John 5:14-15)

I love the Lord, because he listens to my prayers for help. He paid attention to me, so I will call to him for help as long as I live. (Psalm 116:1-2)

I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future. Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will search for me. And when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

Diana Lopez (Flyinglady) just called and asked for an urgent prayer request. First, her computer is down, so she can't post this herself.

Second, she injured her shoulder last night when she rolled over in bed. She said the pain is intense, and she thinks she might have torn a rotator cuff. (She's an OTóshe's probably seen enough patients with this condition to do an fairly accurate self-diagnosis.)

She is scheduled to arrive in this area at the end of this week for the FAF weekend. She said she is planning to come even with the injury, but she would like prayer that God will relieve her pain and touch her shoulder with healing. Thank you in advance for praying for Diana.

Hi everyone, thanks for your prayers. My dad is still in the hospital, but should be discharged tomorrow. Apparently, he had one or more TIAs and one or more tiny strokes. His first symptoms were a blind area in his right eye which went away after a few minutes (TIA) and a couple dizzy spells, on Wednesday. His only additional stroke symptoms are a little bit of numbness in the left arm and face--so praise God it wasn't worse!

He's been to 3 different hospitals across the state in the last 5 days, but it's been very difficult trying to get care/tests done (and trying to get information!). They suspected a hole in the heart (relatives have had that), which may have caused TIA/stroke. (Blood clots in the leg [which he has at least one apparently] can break off and travel through a hole in the heart and into the brain.) They finally gave him an order (outpatient) for the test he needs to determine if he has a hole in the heart--but he won't be able to get the test done until at least Friday, probably. If that is the cause, then he may be able to get the hole closed up in order to prevent more strokes.

It's been a pretty stressful several days to say the least.
