Hi brothers and sisters,

From time to time I get visits from two Mormon missionaries, Brock and Anderson, and I'm trying to witness to them about Jesus Christ and the true Gospel, but its hard, please pray for me and especially for Brock and Anderson.

In His mighty hand,
Martin

Hi, my lovely family,
I have another prayer request and it is very important. An acquaintance of mine from my 12step program has been going to a Bible study with women who are of various denominations. The only problem is that it is being led by an SDA. She was telling another friend about it and this other friend is a friend of mine. The first lady I will call M, the second lady J. M was telling J today about the Sabbath. J told her that she knows some one who left that church. I saw J today and told her she can give M my phone number so she can call me and ask what ever she wants to about SDA. Please pray for me that God give me the words to way to her when she calls. She was raised Catholic and one thing she has learned is that she can go to Jesus and ask forgiveness and not go through a priest.
M is about 75 and is on a fixed income and I do not want to see her paying something she should not have to and learning a falsehood.
Please pray for M and for me, as I know if she does not call me, I will call her.
Thanks family. You see why it is important.
Thanks for your prayers in advance.

I'd like to ask prayer for our son, Brian, who is finishing his first year at La Sierra. He is planning to transfer to state college next year, and we are fully supportive of him leaving, and we are very hopeful that he will meet a Christian girlfriend along the way. My views on this have obviously changed a lot, and I think there's an outstanding chance that he will find many Christian friends there. I've prayed so much about this, and would really appreciate your prayers, too.

Our daughter, Lindsey, is going to school at Loma Linda and is marrying an LLU student this summer. Both she and her fiance know the Lord, and understand the gospel, and they both are in the process of asking some deeper questions about what Adventism really teaches--stuff we discuss on this forum all the time.

There's a lot of stuff that kids growing up in SDA schools get hit with. I would like to believe that some of their teachers at Loma Linda elementary and academy would have protected them from Ellen, but who knows. We've been honest with our kids about what we're learning, and they are listening closely, and now we will just leave them with the Lord.

On a bright note, there's a good group of kids on campus at LLU who are reassessing Adventism in light of the gospel. They're not buying Adventism, and they need our prayers that God will lead them directly to Jesus. They're precious kids, we've known some of them since they were toddlers. We love them dearly.

Thank you so much for remembering them.

Bob, praying for Brian and Lyndsey and you and your wife.

Both our boys have attended non-Christian colleges. Roy has been at a state school, Cal Poly Pomona, and Nathanael is at the University of Redlands now. Roy has had wonderful friends through church; he lived too far from the Cal Poly campus to become involved in the Christian clubs there. Nathanael has become involved in InterVarsity at U of R. There really are great opportunities for Christian kids to have Christian friends and to witness and defend their faith at secular universities.

Praying...

I will pray for the requests I see here recently.

Hey I accidently clicked on the first prayer thread

(Archive through August 28, 1999).--scroll to the top of the prayer section.

Wow, those were some great prayers! I got so involved I kept reading. It was an inspiration. I hope to see more prayers like that. People not just saying they will pray, but actually posting a prayer. I will return to this section, and read back, next time I feel the need for encouragement. Maybe all of you and your prayers way back then helped me.

The next phase of legal proceedings begins with my son this week. They will begin a process to determine where my son lives and who gets him for what amount of time. My other son, who is not part of this process will also need prayer as it is as stressful for him to 'lose' his brother, as it is for me. The SDA ex has suggested that my older son can come to his house to see his brother, but will not make any concessions so they can spend any time together with me. That piece is almost too much for me to manage emotionally. I've been told my older children are 'irrrelevant' to the court.

At the same time, my mother begins another round of treatment for her cancer, as my father's cancer treatments are on-going. Also, my daugher's vision is beginning to fail and she's getting to the age something could be done. She needs a cornea transplant, but because of her diminished mental capacity, there is concern she could not endure the long recovery period without literally ripping the new corneas out. However, she is less and less able to see. Someone standing next to a white wall with a white shirt is invisible to her.

I'm a do-er. There is literally nothing I can 'do' to fix any of these situations. Probably the hardest of all....

Melissa, I posted on here earlier, but some how it did not get on here.
I am praying for you and your family, sons, daughter and your parents. God is holding you up at this time and is carrying you, like He did me when I had chronic fatigue so bad. It was not until I was better that I realized that He was carrying me.
May the peace of God be with you as you wait on Him and may your trust in Him never fail. He is so awesome.

Praying Melissa,

I cannot imagine all the balls you must be juggling right now, literally and emotionally.

God draw near to Melissa, and let her be aware of your presence. Give her wisdom and peace in each situation and decision. Lord, hold her parents, give them strenght, and heal them. Jesus, you honored the cry of parents on behalf of their children in the Bible. You recorded those stories, so you must want us to know that we can cry out to you regarding our children, and that you encourage and honor those prayers. God I stand with Melissa and others praying here to hold up these children to you for healing and protection.

In the name of Jesus.
Amen

Lori
