Nicole--I so totally understand!!! I had the same frustrations with my first son. I remember those tearful moments! My son would be crying from being hungry and frustrated, and I would be crying, frustrated, and feeling like a horrible mom, etc. And my husband would stand there helplessly watching us both cry. Quite the sight I'm sure! We did finally get it (after about 8 weeks of trying). It's a huge learning curve. For something so "natural", you would think it would be a lot easier! By the way, second child was way easier!

I would be happy to talk about this privately with you if you'd like as well. There were some "tricks" that were helpful to me. My email address is gyong01@hotmail.com

Hang in there! You are not alone. In fact, out of all of my friends that have had children, the MAJORITY struggled some with their first child. Also, I want to emphasize, if for some reason you continue to have problems nursing, and it doesn't end up working out for you, it's okay. You are not an inferior mother because of it. There are a lot of social pressures out there that could make this whole process even harder to handle. Remember, although breastfeeding has great benefits, the most important thing is to enjoy your time with your new little blessing! I had a friend of mine who after a month of struggling with her firstborn, finally decided to bottlefeed because her frustration with nursing was stealing her "joy" with the baby.

Anyway, there is so much more I can say. I just want you to be encouraged. I so understand the frustration, and just want to encourage you to hang in there. And if it doesn't work out, it's okay. You're still a good mom!

Praying for you,
Grace

Nicole,
The same thing happened with my son, who is not 35. But I remember it clear as the day. Keep trying and do as Grace said. Contact the La Leche League. They were a big help to me.

Nicole, As Grace and Diana...my first born was a pill to get to nurse. Took what seemed like an eternity. But she did eventually figure it out. I supplemented a little bit so she wouldn't starve or lose excessive weight, but I made her try first. Of course, then it was a nightmare to wean her too.... but that's another story :-) It is worth everything you're going through right now. Supplement if you need to for peace of mind, but don't let others pressure you into giving up if you're not ready to.

I also have a out of the ordinary prayer request... I'm just getting a lot of financial attacks lately. My AC broke, had to get a new unit (it's been over 100 today and I haven't had air for 11 days...HOT!) My dad has been working on it every night, but tonight when we thought he was finally going to be able to get the freon in the unit, his guages failed...and so yet another day without air. It becomes more critical because I have my home study for my custody battle on Thursday and I don't want to have the evaluator come into a house that is 90+ degrees. It's nearly midnight now and it's still 90 in my room. On top of that my washing machine decided to start leaking...so if I leave the clothes, I have to run another spin cycle to get the water out....I'm sure that's just a washer, but I don't need to mess with it right now. There have been a number of other little nuances just going on that just cost money and time to take care of and I"m overwhelmed because of this impending evaluation. I know if push comes to shove I can buy a couple of window units and cool it off enough, but it's just money I don't need to spend since I just bought a new condensing unit. So, I need stuff to stop breaking, the AC to get finished and all this to happen before Thursday, when my home evaluation gets done. This person is writing a report to the judge in our case as to who should have custody of our son. So, it's not a minor evaluation. Though the judge can toss the report out, I've been told they typically go with them. I need it to go well and for things to stay working!

Praying here also Melissa.

I went through one of those evaluations 25 years ago when my son was 7. I got custody of my son, but I remember how it was. Very stressful. Hang in there. I will continue to pray for you.

Blessings,

Lord,

You know that Melissa needs that AC repaired pronto. You also know about the evaluator that will be visiting. We both know how hot and humid KC can be this time of year.

I join hands with all others asking for your Presence in Melissa's events especially over the next few days. Father, You above all understand the special-ness of a mother and her child. Bless Melissa with Your peace and with some cool air for her home. May our thoughts join Yours in
caring for your child Melissa and her family.

Please pray for my aunt. She is in the hospital with various problems (her myasthenia gravis being the the main one), and it sounds like the medical staff (and relatives) up there in Canada are giving up on her and refuse to put her on a ventilator, etc., even. And she is only 57!

We are not totally sure that she is saved.

Please pray. Thanks.

Hi All;

I have been in chemo treatments again for the past few months. I travel today to receive another one tomorrow morning.
After that, they are going to give me a break for three weeks while they go over everything to see if the treatments are doing me some good.
When I meet with them again after the three week break, it will be decided if I continue treatments or if they will stop.
I am trying to remain positive. I accept God's will for my life, and am not fearful as I know He is in control. But when I look at my grandkids or my dogs (all of whom love me warts and all), I get this overwhelming feeling of sadness. Can't help hoping He will give me a little more time with them. I know this propably sounds maudlin. Sorry about that. I guess I tend to lay on you guys the stuff I try to keep from my family.
Could really use some prayer to help me keep it all together.
Thanks.

Blessings to All
Toria

Toria,
A prayer from Sin City will be sent up for you. My church has a saying that what ever happens in Las Vegas, will affect the world and that is what we are doing for God.
God be with Toria. You know what she needs. Hold her in your awesome arms and may she know you are there for her and her family. I would like you to heal her.
Amen
Diana
