I haven't posted much the last several days because we had company over the weekend and it has taken me a bit of time to settle down from everything that has happened.

A second-cousin came out from Tennessee to meet me and share our family history. His mother was raised an SDA but left it before he was born. Thanks to him, I was able to meet some of my nearby cousins who I had not been able to connect with up until now.

One of these nearby cousins has left the SDA church and is fellowshipping in a evangelical church in Tacoma. His brother, who I also met, is still SDA and their father, who was there, is also SDA. My great-aunt, the wife of their father, who was the sister of the cousin from Tennessee, has authored a number of SDA books so I have the feeling the family as a whole just might be hardcore SDA.

In the process of getting acquainted we discovered that other cousins of mine, were friends of theirs that they didn't even know they were related to. Our common denominator is that we are all from the Napa Valley, so the connections should not have been to much of a surprise. So, I got in contact with those other cousins and got everybody connected again.

My parting comment, when I left for home Saturday night was I was a former Adventist who wanted to know the story of why they have left the SDA church. The cousin in question teaches at the Christian school of the church where they worship so they sound like dedicated Christians.

Anyway, I am trying to digest what all this means and ask yours prayers that the cause of our Savior and Lord be would advanced in these new friendships. Suddenly, I not only have a former Adventist fifteen minutes down the road, he and his wife are cousins to boot. Wow!

Hello everyone,

I desperately need your prayers for my parents. I feel so helpless and feel crushed by their pain. They are in serious financial struggles that are exacerbating their physical, mental, and spiritual health.

I spend a lot of time thinking about their problems, trying to help as I can (with prayers, advice, doing things on their behalf, financial assistance, etc). They are thinking of selling their home to help ease their burdens (my mother really does not want to do this but feels there's no other choice). They live far away so I can't be around to really help them as I would like to.

Anyways, I decided this morning to plead with God, and I did as never before. I felt crushed but then picked up my Bible and read from Mark 11:22-25 -

"..., "Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, 'Go, fall into the sea.' And if you have no doubts in your mind and believe that what you say will happen, God will do it for you. So I tell you to believe that you have received the things you ask for in prayer, and God will give them to you."

After reading, I boldly asked God to remove the mountains for my parents. I also decided to ask others for their prayers on my parents' behalf.

Whoever can pray with me, please do. I know God will do what is best. Thank you in advance.

Olga,

Praying! I've known the Lord to move real mountains when that is what is prayed for.

Our Savior demonstrates his caring love for each of us with action. When on earth, he responded to every need that was brought before him and he is still doing what he has always done.

Olga, I'm praying now for your parents, for God to relieve their burdens and for them to be able to completely trust Him. I'm also praying that you will have peace regarding them, that you will be able to entrust their burdens to Jesus.

He is faithful.

Thank you Colleen for your prayers and for your thoughtfulness in including me too! I'm so used to wanting to 'fix' and have a handle on everything so for me to ask for prayers means I'm learning I can't control things and it's really hard but as I said before, this morning I decided to take God at His word.

Now I'll wait on His timing.

Thanks again for praying!

Olga,
I just prayed. I know how hard it can be watching your parents struggle. My dad recently died after an awful battle with Parkinsons. It was draining in every way, and it is frustrating and heartbreaking to be far away. I pray peace and clarity for you, as you support them in the way God shows you.
Hugs
Lori

Toria, Any word on your latest tests? I prayed for you this weekend quite a bit, and this morning as well. You were on my heart. You are such an inspiration.

Olga,
I am praying for your parents that their burdens will be lightened and peace will return to their lives. Also for you as you learn to 'let go and let God'.
Our God is faithful.

Blessings,

Lori,
Thank you for your prayers and your kind words.
My doctor wanted to wait a few weeks after my last treatment (Oct. llth) before doing a CT-scan and some other tests. I am scheduled to have it all done tomorrow. I leave later this morning for the clinic. It will probably be a couple of weeks before I get the results.

I still get tired very easily, but other than that, I feel fine.

Thank you Lori, Toria, Colleen, Phil, and all again for praying. It is sweet for you guys to pray, in spite of having your own difficulties.

This morning after dropping my little one at pre-school, I turned the radio on and I think it was Casting Crowns singing: "I will praise You in the storm" one part of the song, says something like: I"ll lift my eyes upon the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth..." (I am not sure if those are the exact lyrics, but I was sure strengthened by the words and now by your prayers).

God bless you all and may he ease your own troubles too!

Hugs,

Olga

We are in a difficould situation with our little son (soon 4 years old). After a good period he has become very difficoult. Demanding, nagging, disobedient, not cooperative etc. And when we try to correct it he responds with becoming even worse. Says "stupid mother" 10-20 times, I tell him please not, it's not nice, try to ignore it, he continues until I "explode".... The same he does to his father. This situation is so unberable to us and we don't know what to do. We already have little sleep because of our baby, are stressed in other areas and have no reserve energy to handle this. Please pray that God will give us strength and wisdom to deal with this and that the Holy Spirit will work in our sons heart to become gentle and cooperative again. He is otherwise such a nice boy.

Berit,

I am praying.

Let me share the story of a close friend of ours. She has had eleven children, most of the born at home and has home-schooled all of them with her husband gone most of the time because he was a fireman working in the city. In between all of that, she help build the home they now live in and sold their mobile home to us. Several of her daughters were born in what is now our kitchen. So, I think a lot about that family.

How does she do it? Total trust in letting the Lord work things out and give her the rest to keep going. Up until the next to last child, they were all model well behaved children. Then the unruly one came into their lives. What was her secret? She patiently loved him and trusted the Lord to change him. He is now a teen-ager and a wonderful young man.
