Hi Clyderp,

It's so good to hear you're resting in Jesus. Praise God that we can rest under His wings. I've needed to go there lots lately too and just let Him love me.

You are still in my thoughts and prayers.

Huge praise! My aunt was able to switch doctors since the last orthopedic surgeon wasn't returning her calls, nor seeming concerned about her situation, etc. They got her into surgery today, and they were able to fix her leg without doing the hip replacement like they originally thought! So they just did a "revision" on the pin placement (which I guess was questionably placed originally which is why it failed). They didn't know until they actually went in and saw it. The cat scan they took confirmed that her hip was still strong and the bone quality would be stable enough for another pin placement rather than having to do a hip replacement. This is so much better for her and her arthritis! This is such a blessing.

We are all so relieved! This is way better than what we had hoped for. The best thing is, like we had been praying for, she knows without a doubt that "divine intervention" was involved. From finding the new doctor, to the scheduling, to everything...the way it all fell into place was just too perfect to say it was just "luck". That is the best part.

Praise God! I think this is just the beginning of the ways she's going to see God move in her life. I really feel as if her heart is ready.

I'll keep you posted! Thank you all for praying!

I'm having arthroscopic surgery on my left knee this morning (late) around 11:00-11:30. I have a torn medial meniscus, and the Dr. is doing a menisectomy. Some of you will remember that I had the same thing done to my right knee three years ago.

In answer to the most asked question, I've no idea how it happened. I'm not athletic in the least, but I do walk a lot, and in my early 30s I used to run 5 mi. a day until joint pain made me stop. I suspect I damaged them back then...my sister and I have concluded that we were made with defective parts. (She had a knee repair done two months ago.)

I would appreciate your prayers that the surgery will be uneventful and successful, and that I will have a quick recovery—and that even in this God will glorify Himself. Thank you all.

"Lord, bless my sister Colleen as she goes under here soon. Comfort her soul, guide the Dr.'s hands to do the tidiest, most effective work, and give her a good nap to boot!

I pray that she will heal quickly, and fully, and I thank you for the timing, with Mother's Day this weekend. Give her an extra helping of guilt free relaxation to indulge in a bit of pampering, so she can take it easy while you are knitting everything back together in there.

Thank you for her ministry to us.

Thank you for Spring, and for regeneration.

In your holy name, I pray, Amen."

Thank you, everyone. I'm starting to feel "normal" again! The surprise was that, despite the MRI, when the dr got his scope inside, he found that the meniscus was not torn, but but there was a sort or bony (arthritic) growth that had worn away the cartilage from the bottom of the femur, so it had been bone on bone for who knows how long, and the cartilage was gone and the bone was sustaining damage.

So he made some micro-fractures in the bone so that it will heal and form scar tissue that, while not as effective as real cartilage, is way better than plain bone. Because the micro-fractures are broken bone, I have to be on crutches with partial weight-bearing for four to six weeks. So I have the ice water pump and the continuous passive movement machine here...

The prognosis is somewhat uncertain because their was some arthritis at work (although for some reason it hadn't really shown up in either X-rays of the MRI). The good news is that the microfractures were already showing some oozing--which means the substance that forms the scar tissue appeared to be there.

I would appreciate your prayers over this recovery period--both for healing and for my own trust and peace during this crutch period. I am thankful for you all. I praise God for making us family in Him.

Colleen,

My prayers for your recovery will continue. Since I have had a total knee replacement in both knees, I understand the pain and limited mobility that this problem has brought into your life. It sounds like you can expect a 'full recovery' but jogging or other impact activities are certainly out for you.

And the really good news is that none of us have to live with these flimsy bodies for long anyway - yippee!

Happy Mother's Day Colleen. It's going to be extra special for you this year!
