Jim, are you on a new antibiotic? I am praying for God to give you rest deeply in your heart in the middle of this huge crisis and for Him to heal you.

Jim, I'm praying for you too. I've had bronchitis five times, so I know what you're dealing with. I could offer all kinds of advice, but I don't know whether you have any allergies to herbs, etc. So I'll just shut up and pray some more that God gives you relief and wisdom to know how to fully cooperate with your body's built-in healing mechanisms.

Jim I'm reading a book "Adrenalin Fatigue" by James L. Wilson
on stress, there is a chapture about in the middle on "lifestyle"
that you might find helpful--good suggestions. Realistic. Not
a substitute for faith and prayer, but we do need to take care of our bodies--many libraries have it. Still praying! Peggy

Colleen,
Yes, I am getting a new antibiotic starting tonight. I really resist taking any kind of drugs. But sometimes, you have no choice.

Honestwitness,
I have bene fighting allergies increasingly over the past couple years. Never used to be this bad. There are several factors:
1) It is a known fact that Middle Georgia is a very high allergy area virtually year round.
2)In our off and on drought, the pollen goes nuts. Without a weekly rain, the counts go sky high and it is so bad , I can't even go out in my own yard without wheezing and such.
3) Over the past 18 months , dealing with stress.

I had given up yard work and had to get a lawn service. But this year as part of my proving myself, I forced myself to pick it back up since spring. Big mistake. Good intentions or otherwise.
My reward was 7 weeks of bronchitus and literally ruining my health.
I do my best to exercise, eat right etc..
I have NO drug habits, don't drink, smoke etc.
I use cayenne ,olive oil, garlic, grape juice, OJ, low fat diet, fruits etc....

I can deal with most of age related things, but being Super Yard man is not getting it :-)

I have out of necessity decided to go back to hiring out the lawnwork. Cha Ching!

Jim, I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy! Bronchitis never is easy and always seems to last for weeks. My prayer is that this new antibiotic will work with your system and get you back on your feet real soon.

you don't have asthma, do you? sometimes patients present with bronchitis/uri type symptoms. bronchitis can certainly linger and may be bacterial if it has lasted this long, but i would wonder about the possibility of asthma.

Nicole,
This has occurred to me as well. I worry I may end up with COPD. I started having the chest infections a few years ago, always related to yard exposure, cutting grass, trimming, edging, raking and sometimes just standing under a tree.
It first became a problem mostly in the fall , I used to be able to walk for exercise but finally had to stop because of all the oak trees.
Then I switched to walking the track , but even there, in the fall the weeds in the surrounding fields are blowing teh rag weeds. Finally , I resorted to driving to the mall just to be able to take a walk. That is expensive. 20 miles away.
I do fairly well at work, I do things to exercise and walk at work, pull many of my orders instead of handing it off to shipping dept. Besides , it gets me away from teh desk for a few minutes to stretch my legs.
I use good masks when doing yard work, but they can be suffocating when working in the heat.
Even with the masks, I usually get no sleep that night. Now if I stay out of the yard. After a few days , I get better. But this time around, I tried to be superman, prove I can do it,and simply kept reinfecting my lungs to the point an infection set in. I waited too long to see a Dr and it is taking more time to clear it up.
We are about through with the pollen season untill August hay fever begins and I have decided I have to stop doing yardwork. With that, I am hopeful I can get back to near normal anyway.

I prefer natural remedies and that sometimes leads to putting things off. My bad.

OH, Jim--I think you should get to a doctor and be completely open ASAP. If you really do have asthma/serious allergies, an Rx may help you feel healthier than hoping the natural remedies will take effect.

Our younger son has infection-induced asthma as well as unspecified allergies to pollens, etc. If he gets a legitimate upper respiratory infection, he can become chronically ill and have trouble breathing, etc. if he doesn't treat the asthma symptoms. If he treats the asthma, he gets over the problem.

Praying for your health and general well-being, Jim!

jim, colleen is right. you sound like you have asthma/allergies and fortunately, that can be treated very successfully. COPD would be more likely if you were a chronic smoker. go back, see your doctor so he/she can prescribe appropriate meds. unfortunately, herbal remedies don't usually help, and often, they worsen asthma.

I am taking my antibiotics and staying out of the yard even though I desperately want to cut grass.
My lungs are doing better, but still not fully recovered. Right lung broncial is still sore.
The antibiotics can of make me run down. But I have to force myself to keep taking them despite the side effects. I can't let this infection become a super bug.
My doctor is aware and I think we are looking at just getting the infection cleared up so we can assess the other possibilities. Meanwhile, removing the main culprit, less exposure to high concentrations of pollens and other management protocols.
I see it too. I have to work into each step.

I am looking for a yard service, inquiries are in progress. I need a goat :-)

You know, you folks have become a part of my world. My family.
I talk about you all in converstations, "That's what "___" said ! My exposure to your thoughts and views become part of my life.

It's been a whole year now.
A lot of growing.

I need to give back and I worry so much that I could discourage another soul.

Give me time, perhaps God will give me a new beginning. My better self.

With a special love for you all,

You give back just being you where you are and sharing with us. You do not discourage us, as we have been where you are to some degree. Each of us knows what it is like to need help and prayer. It is a tremendous privilege and honor praying for you and being a part of your family. God did not bring you this far to drop you. He will never let you go. He is just to awesome.

Jim, you DO give back! You're our friend, too! We love having you here, and we miss you when you are gone. When you're part of the body of Christ, it's not OK to suffer alone. We are in this body precisely because we need each other.

I'm glad you're on your meds and beginning to improve. I just laughed when I read, "I need a goat."

Too funny! A goat would more than solve your grass problem...all things chewable would be chewed!

Jim,

My wife has had health issues all of her life. Lately, they simply have become more numerous. This evening, she shared with me a portion out of a book where the author stresses that afflictions produce a situation in our lives where the Holy Spirit gives us a gift that is not always given much attention.

She is calling this the 'gift of endurance'. This is where the presents of God becomes so much more real in ones life. She views her health problems as something to thank God for because he is so real in her life. All sorts of people see this in her and come with their own pains and distresses. She puts the focus on our Savior and they go away blessed.

You may not see this at the moment but you are being blessed beyond measure.

I am out of thoughts, and just plain wore out.
I feel like the bottom fell out and all I can do is free fall. Fretting is meaningless.
I want normal. Have not seen that in a long time.
