Kathy,

I, too, lost my father, just over 4 weeks ago. I can feel your sorrow and sadness. My wife and I will pray for you and for strength.

Just a little encouragement; My father had cancer and survived more than twice the time expected. When the end came near, they (my mother and father) moved to Walla Walla for various reasons. The Sunday before they moved, their local SDA church (they were SDA's all of my lifetime) held a little going away meeting / ceremony in the church sanctuary.

I attended. It was the first time in over 30 years that I had set foot in that church. It was little uncomfortable, but not bad. The people were happy to see me and my sibings - none of whom remain SDA's, and no one was treated badly.

I'm praying that you'll have a similar experience and the funeral will be a time to remember and not a time to blame.

Praying for you, Kathy, and that your family will come to know Jesus in full freedom. And Larry, praying also for God to comfort you.

Jim, I was married to an alcoholic for three years (which is a drop in the bucket, but seemed like an eternity) and I can concur with everything Denise and Colleen said. It hurts so badly - I know - to be pushed aside for a chemical - and to be treated with indifference. But YOU are a treasure to God. Praying for you!

I don't come here often because I still feel there are so many that I don't really know on here - that I don't have that connection yet. Guess this would be a good place to develop that! I often feel that I am an unknown intruder on an intimate conversation! =) And that's okay! It's as it should be. All relationships take time.

I am asking for prayer for wisdom and words from the Holy Spirit as I begin to discuss the Sabbath issue with my mom today. I am so surprised that she agreed to talk openly about it, and I don't want to botch the opportunity God has provided. Wisdom for me, and the miracle of sight for my mother - that is my prayer. Thank you!!

Sondra, You are always a part of this forum and your comments have shown the Christ like heart that you have. It is not your words to your mother that should cause worry as I have read your words many times.

There is a veil over people's eyes when they live under the old law. The prayer should be that the veil would be lifted, even if it is just to let a little light in.

Thank you SO MUCH for your prayers and encouragement. I do not feel that I am not a part of ya'll (grin) that just sometimes it's not yet my place to speak in some situations.

I am keenly feeling now the spiritual aspect of this war. But war isn't pretty is it?? ha. Waging the war just has to bring us closer to Him, and knowing we do it in His strength, not our own.

Thanks Coach! It's still so amazing to me that our paths would cross in this way after all these years. Blessings, prayers and thanks to you all today!

Sondra,
The Scriptures say we should restore one gently.
I feel this applies to sharing truth.
When you ask for God's Spirit to guide your words, ask also that you may speak with empathy and in the Spirit of gentleness.
When people are not defensive or angry. They are much more receptive to discuss things.

I have always had the tendancy to hammer down truths as if they were nails. Guess what, it is alienating and I end up making matters worse.

On the other hand, when I try to get them to see it for themselves and draw their own theories and conclusions, we have an opprotunity for exchange of thoughts. Usually, I don't get results in one or two talks. It takes many fragments, a few seconds here and there, a passing converstaion on something related, a piece here and there.
Sometimes, my wife surprises me. She comes back with an intuitive statement and I realize , she got it afterall.
Don't underestimate peoples ability to reason.
Sometimes, a mist is more powerful than a flood.

IMO

Folks,
I have just about talked myself out.
Not a whole lot more that can be said nor should be.
I am going to try to greatly reduce or stop talking about it on the forum. It's out of place.

I am in a hard place in my life and this one has been a mountain.

Please pray for us. I don't even know what to pray for anymore.

Jim,

I'm praying for you, too. I know you're in so much pain.

Jesus cares and we care.

Update...

Wanted to let you know that my levels are up enough that I could have my chemo treatment yesterday. It went well.
Was told that my chemo treatments are destroying my white blood cells faster that the bone marrow can produce them causing a condition called neutorpenia. So....
For several days per week I must visit the local hospital for injections of Neupogen (filgrastim).

Besides being horrendously expensive (trusting in His provision), the drug may cause side effects. As chemo produces its own side effects, I am praying my body will be able to cope.
I still have my port (large blessing) but there is still some infection, so am on antibiotics again for another 10 days.
I know it must sound like I am a wreck, but actually I am coping quite well. Praising my Lord for that.
Thank you all for holding me in prayer. And thank you for being there.

Blessings,
Toria

My dad had Neupogen treatments and they really helped him. I don't remember any side effects bothering him with it. Praying for your continued comfort, healing, and strength!

Blessings,

Mary
