I have a dear friend, a former SDA who doesn't post here but is active in our local FAF, whose mother is on hospice and not expected to live over a week.

Praying also for Surfy and the Shetlers.

I just found out about Lance yesterday. I knew him and his family when I lived in San Diego. He was the most thoughtful and kind person! Please pray for his family. Grace Alone...does Lance's father have cancer? As far as I know, the Shetler family is still SDA. Lance's brother, Jon, when to LLU for PT school.

Hi Srg! My husband was told that his Dad has cancer and Lance was helping him back in Texas. I don't know any other details.

If you knew the Shetlers, did you know any of the Bartlett family? My husband, Wayne Bartlett went to school with Lance from 1st - 12th at SD Academy, and then at LLU La Sierra as well.

Glad you joined us. I was wondering if anyone here knew Lance. He really was a great guy.

Hi Srg! Welcome again! The Lance story hits close to home, literally. We live in the DFW area and my husband is 42 and we have 3 kids at home. It just reminds us to give thanks for every day we are given. We did not know him, but I'm sure I know people who do. My best friend here, Mandy, also lost her dad New Year's eve and we are attending the funeral today. All of you experiencing loss are also in my prayers.

Sondra,

Death seems to be affecting the families of many of us. My daughter and SIL, who live near you, work(ed) for a remodeling company. The owner suddenly died just before Christmas and the family of the man decided, yesterday, to close down the business.

Since my daughter and her family just moved into that area a few months ago, things are looking desperate for them.

My prayer request is that they will continue to trust the Lord in these trying times and trust him to provide for their needs.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I will post a bit more when I have some time. I have lurked here for years..and even attended FAF weekend a few years ago. I am thankful my Husband and I both agreed on leaving AND that my children have NO idea what it means to be SDA. They love our church and freely talk about going to heaven and loving Jesus. It is wonderful!

I did not know the Shetler family in Academy. I met them after I graduated from College.

Melissa, Im so sorry for the loss of your mother. Its good to hear from you.

Toria, I am praying for you, especially today before I came here to "lurk". :-)

I am petitioning Jesus on behalf of the other requests posted here recently.

I will say that at the 2nd Christmas after my father died, it was easier this year. A lot of good memories surfaced. Still hard, miss him more than ever, but appreciate so much of what I had as well. Be encouraged, God is about to bring all this loss to an end, as He will gather us all to be with Him. Much love, prayers, and big (((HUGS))) to you all who are hurting.

Phil,

We will be praying for your Daughter and family. We understand how tough it can be as we are in the same situation, but God has taken care of our every need and is teaching us how to trust completely in Him no matter what.

Love,
Jan and Bob

We are having a lean time as well - as always being self-employed this time of year - it's the normal thing, but this year feels a bit more shaky. I can't imagine why! ha.

But yes - it's good to learn how to trust God one day at a time and one step at a time.

1 Tim 6 - something
"and having food and clothing, with these we are content" - paraphrase of Sondra. lol.

Prayers for work for everyone!!!

With God telling me to retire last March and His showing me texts that He would provide have really shown me that I need Him every hour of every day. I have enough to pay my bills and I had enough to drive to SO Cal to see my son in November and visit my cousins and go to my reunion. I always have enough. When I was in So CA He showed me the text in Heb 13 where it says He will never leave me or forsake me.
Thank You awesome God for providing for each of us.
