Patti, how Jesus loves your brother! And how He
loves you tonight! It is so hard to see our loved
ones suffer and be afraid. You are in my prayers.

Grace to you.

Hello Friends,
I am overwhelmed at the loving responses I have gotten from y'all in private. I have not checked my email until just now, so please forgive a blanket response in the place of answering each email individually.

Jerry has acute leukemia. The MD says that the reason acute leukemia is so virulent is that many people never know they have it until they are sick to the point of death which is the situation we have been dealing with at present. He seems to think that if we can get through this initial battle (which is a tough one) that the prognosis for keeping acute leukemia in remission is better than for some types. Another encouraging thing is that we live in Houston, home of MD Anderson Cancer Hospital which is renowned throughout the world as the best cancer treatment center.

Yesterday (was it only yesterday?) the MD told us it was touch-and-go, to get the family to Houston ASAP. Well, we have a bunch of folks here now! :) I am the only one who lives here, though, so we are living between our house, the hospital and one hotel suite.

Jerry experienced complete renal failure yesterday morning. He has double pneumonia. They put him on a ventilator yesterday morning. But since they did not have a definite diagnosis, they did not want to treat the renal failure until they did. They got the diagnosis yesterday afternoon, and began chemo last night. He responded favorably (But you have to realize that we are latching onto any positive news we can get.) to the chemo in that they were able to bring his 104 degree fever down. The first report of the night was encouraging as was the next one. The night MD indicated that they had been able to stabilize his blood pressure, but the day MD indicated that it was low again. He has had 2 bags of chemo thus far and still seems to be holding on. They started a slow dialysis this morning.

The MD also told us all to donate platelets for him because he has to have a new dose daily, as the chemo destroys them.

It is still not good; he is still critical. But at least the doctors are beginning to talk of the long run (the next 4 -6 weeks) instead of just the next hour or two.

I feel blessed by all the loving care that I have been shown. The doctor told us that we needed a miracle, and we believe that God is hearing all of the prayers.

Please keep praying. And may God bless each of you for your caring about my family.

Grace and peace always,
Patti

Dear Patti,

I prayerfully submit this Scripture for your
brother and you: Romans 8:31-39 from the
Contemporary English Version:

What can we say about all this? If God is on or
side, can anyone be against us? God did not
keep back his own Son, but he gave him for
us. If God did this, won't he freely give us
everything else? If God says his chosen ones
are acceptable to him, can anyone bring
charges against them? Or can anyone
condemn them? No indeed! Christ died and
was raised to ife, and now he is at God's right
side, speaking to him for us. Can anythng
separate us from the love of Christ? Can
trouble, suffering, and hard times, or hunger
and nakedness, or danger and death? It is
exactly as the Scriptures say,

"For we face death all day long.
We are like sheep on their way to be
butchered."

In everythng we have won more than a victory
because of Christ who loves us. I am sure that
nothing can separate us from God's love -- not
life or death, not angels or spirits, not the
present or the future, and not powers above or
powers below. Nothing in all creation can
separate us from God's love for us in Christ
Jesus our Lord!

Patti,
I pray for your Brother and family. I know how you feel, my Brother has chronic Lymphatic Leukemia. He has been in the hosp. a year or so ago, but his disease seems to be somewhat managed so far. They give him rounds of Chemo when his WBC is up and that takes care of it for awhile.
He goes to the Veterans Hosp. in Loma Linda for treatments. His name is Bob and lives in Enterprise Utah.
Is your Brother a Christian? Mine does not claim it at this time. I pray he will.
Please pray for my Brother also.

Patti and family,
I pray for all of you that you may find peace in the valley. I know it's hard to find peace when one is suffering but remember our Lord Jesus said He would be with us always. My prayers are going up for everyone involved.
God Bless you all,
Denise

dear friends,

please pray for me. I am sick and have been spending most of my day sleeping, but when I am awake I am crying out to God for Him to remove Andy's spiritual blindness. i have been feeling very disheartened because I love him so much still and he is still trapped in Adventism. I logged onto this sight to read over the testimonies again, they brought tears to my eyes. I know God is faithful and He is working, but i feel very discouraged.

Chyna,
Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.
God Bless you Chyna, with His Peace

Hello everyone,
Today my best friend (who is 84) lost her ex-husband. He lived across the hall from me. He was also my friend and a wonderful man. This death came very unexpected so we are all in shock overhere. I just came back from the hospital after they took away his body.
Please pray for my best friend. She is taking this pretty hard. She just lost her brother last month and two sons prior to that. This is most hard on my friend.
I am concerned as her blood pressure fluxuates and these deaths are taking their toll on her. The past few months especially, I have seen her going down hill in health and emotions.
Please pray for Arleta, this is my best friend.
God Bless all for your prayers,
Denise

Please pray for my brother, Jerry, right now.
His breathing is labored; he is not coughing well, and they are talking about putting him back on the ventilator. Not only would this be a terrible trama to his already traumatized trachea, it would open the door for infection directly into his lungs.

Also they are doing a bone marrow scan today to see to what extent (if any) the chemo was effective. Please pray with us.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

God bless you all,
Grace and peace,
Patti

Dear Chyna, My heart goes out to you. I have a wonderful husband too. He is not in Adventism but does not share my beliefs. Let's pray for each other. With God loving the both of them all we have to today is have faith and wait. Our timeclock my not be in synchrony with God's but it will happen in good time.

Dear Denise, You have made you apartment community not only your home but your mission. Being 84 and watching so many people die at once is traumatic. Your dear friend will be remembered in my prayers.

Patti, I will remember your brother. May God work miracle in his life and in your family's lives as you go through this.

Please pray for my family. My son has ADHD and is in those turbulent preadolescent years. He is in a real funk and it has our household needing prayer. Pray that as parents we have patience and recognize that under all of that poor behavior is a child we love and who needs us. Help to discern balance in discipline and cutting the child a break. Help for him to calm his mind and end whatever anger he has built up inside him. Thank you Valerie

Valerie, I want to remember your family in my prayers. We ALL need God's Presence so much, don't we? I pray for His Spirit to be with our families; I know He loves our children so much more than we ever can. M. Scott Peck wrote once:

"A vocation to parenthood is a vocation to live with enormous uncertainty...to wait in the 'emptiness of not knowing.' To fulfill the role of parent with true civility is to play a role of glory.
It requires us, on occasions when we are utterly unsure whether we are doing the right thing, to act with vigor--even in the certain knowledge it will incur our beloved child's wrath against us.
Mostly, however, it requires us to do nothing except to exist in helpless prayer."

Grace always,
Cindy

Thank you Cindy I have copied the quote and will tape it too my bathroom mirror for inspiration. My child has a heart of gold and I want it to continue to be that way at the end of adolescence!! And I thank you all for your prayers; there is nothing that means more to me in this life that my two boys. Valerie
