Sorry, Skeeter, about the loss of Shadow--God made these loving little beings to bless our hearts--if He cares for the sparrows, He also cares for the kittens, huh? And losing these little blessings, esp in a painful way, touches His heart, too. May He comfort you while you mourn....oh, I can't wait for heaven where there will be no more death!

Skeeter, bless your sweet heart.
i am so sorry for your loss. :-(:-(:-(
i had to have my 13 year old cat put to sleep not to long ago too. :-(:-(:-(

i would not tell your little grandson that shadow ran off and found a new home...
as that would leave him open to looking for her to come back someday, as well as discredit your veracity if he ever finds out the truth later.

i would just tell him how much shadow loved him and would never have left him if it were up to her but she died because she didn't know that all dogs were not her friends. (What you don't know can cost you your life)

This is an opportunity if you wanted to share with your grandson, how death came into the world because of sin.
(There was no death before man sinned.)

The first death was the animal that had to die so Adam and Eve's sin could be covered.

Tell Him how sin separated man from God and how sad that made God to lose the man and woman, He loved so much.....How God was willing for His own Son to die soooo that someday there would be no more sorrow or tears or death. Someday man will be back with God in heaven and sin and death having been overcome at the cross will never again separate us from Him and we will never again have a sad day or sorrow or tears but we will live in the presence of God forever. In His presence is fullness of JOY forever more.

love

Yesterday Tyler was here and of course the first thing he did was go out in the back yard to look for Shadow. :-( I didnt say anything at first, then about 1/2 hour later he went back out and looked again.. then he came to me and said "Grandma, I'm really worried about Shadow because she isn't in the yard and she didn't come when I called her" Then he told me that he was worried that she might have gotten lost or got hurt. I told him "Tyler, I didn't want to say anything because I knew it would make you sad, but Shadow has been gone since Wednesday" He said "she has been gone for 3 days ?" and he started to cry and came and hugged me and we cried together for a bit and I just couldnt bring myself to tell him that I knew she was dead... so I just told him that we should say a prayer for Shadow and thank God for giving her to us to love and play with for as long as we had her with us. I'm sorry Tyler, I didnt want to have to tell you she was gone" (I didnt say "dead")We just held onto each other for a while and then he quietly went in the house and sat down and started petting our dog Kia. He was back here today and didnt look for Shadow at all. but he told me "Grandma, I think maybe Shadow died, or she would have come back home by now." I didnt say anything.. just gave him a hug. I still couldnt bring myself to actually say the words "she is dead".
Maybe I could have handled it differently,, but I am sure he knows what I meant by "gone" and he is such a tender hearted little boy, I didnt have the heart to just come out and say it. He was hurting enough, and I am certain he knows what I meant. I showed him a couple of pictures on the computer of him holding Shadow and he asked if I could print them for him. I told him I didnt know if I should because it might make him feel sad when he looked at them, but he said "No, Grandma, I just want them so I can remember Shadow better" so I printed them out and put them in frame's for him to keep.
Tyler is the youngest son of my oldest son. I plan to go to church with them tomorrow. I went last week and enjoyed it very much. :-) Was so nice to be in a church and have them teach ONLY from the BIBLE . 8-}

My grandson was 4 years old when Fang, his Dad's cat was put to sleep at the vet's office. I was home with him. When his parents came home he asked where Fang was. His parents got down at his level and asked him if he remembered how sick Fang was, so Fang stayed at the vet's. Six months later I was there for his 5th birthday. One of the first things he showed me was the picture of Fang(he was cremated and put in an urn). Then he told me Fang died. I asked my son about this. He told me Jean-Marc figured this out on his own. Kids are smart.

I'm sorry Skeeter about the loss of Shadow. I, too, am an animal lover.

I have a prayer request ... Tomorrow I take my car, "Mathuselah", into the mechanic. It broke down on Friday. My car is 17 years old with 299,000 miles on it. If you could pray for a speedy recovery or God's provision for transportation.

Thank you,
Keri

Dear Keri, I am praying for God's provision for you. He is faithful.

Francie, I think you handled your grandson well. God was in those circumstances. He is faithfu; He really does give us His heart and wisdom when we trust Him with our situations.

Thank you for your prayers ...

The mechanic called and "Mathuselah" has multiple issues going on. But I see God's protection in this.

The fuel pump needs to be replaced and the car was throwing sparks "awful" and so the distributor cap and spark plugs will need to be replaced.

My car is so old that I have always noticed the engine covered in a filmy oil - so the fact that it was sparking "awful" shows that God protected me in that I drove it Friday for 15-20 minutes after it started acting up ... 20-30 minutes on Saturday ... and barely limped to the mechanic today. The fact that the engine didn't catch fire is a miracle.

Also, the mechanic asked a question and it may be possible that the fuel pump is still under warranty and therefore it won't cost (hopefully) to replace it. Couldn't find a receipt, but the mechanic said when they took it out they'll check their records.

So I am housebound (actually a good thing) while dear old Mathuselah has a "valve" replacement and "surgery". The old fellow has served me well :-). I got him orthopedic shoes last spring - 4 new ones :-) ...

Thanks for the prayers and if I might ask for wisdom for some upcoming decisions ... some difficult ones this week ... thanks.

Keri,
I am praying!
Lori
What a great optimist you are! Im praying for the light at the end of the tunnel to get brighter, nearer, clearer. You will emerge from this to the other side a better, more mature woman of God!

Praying here Keri-I know how difficult car troubles can be. I'd be a rich man if I haven't had the car troubles that I've had over the years :-) I am so grateful the Lord has kept you safe and that you are willing to share that need, sometimes pride can restrain us from sharing our burdens but how else can we lift each other up if we don't know what our sister/brother is going through (Galatians 6:2)

I have a praise report and a request

My 11 year old nephew who has had years of developmental and behavioral difficulties to the point where the school board was going to kick him out gave his life to the Lord. When I get back I'll give more details in the Answer to prayer section.

My wife and I are going on a much delayed honeymoon. this will be the first time we have been away from our children for more than 2 nights at a time. They are in good hands but they will miss church for 2 Sundays as my in-laws do not attend church and getting a ride for them is not an easy task. My prayer request is that the time away will be restful, that the children will find comfort in staying with their grandparents and cousins, and that when I return I will successfully tackle the work ahead (busy season at work). Thank-you

A prayer request for a friend from Facebook. His friend Tom is having colon cancer surgery in Chicago on August 31. He is having a "debulking" which means part of his intestines will be taken. Please pray for Tom and his family.
