Does anyone have any info on whether abortions are performed in Adventist Hospitals or Med. schools. I read in a few places that Loma Linda did fetal experiments in the 70s. Can anyone verify if they still do, or know who to ask? This is a question currently on the SDA web, & I told someone I would check on it.
Thanks, Lynn
Lydell

Yes Loma Linda was doing experiments using aborted fetuses in the 70's. It was reported in, among other places, Focus On The Family. I wrote to the GC president voicing our concerns and received an, "oh golly you have been misinformed, why those babies died natural deaths before we took any tissue," type of answer. Only thing is they were using cells from brain stems and according to the articles we read in several newspapers at the time (and the articles were written from the stand point that there was nothing ethically or morally wrong with this harvesting!), those cells were only effective for the type of experiments being done if they were taken from living fetuses, and then the fetuses were aborted. This is God's true church? I don't think so!

Lydell, or I suppose anyone with knowledge. I have read much of the Glendale Committee and it's report from the early 80's. As one who has not been part of the SDA church since about that time, I heard rumors of the problems which they discussed and have read in the past months about their work, but would like to see the report or a legitimate summary. You appear to be "blessed" with more knowledge than most about these people. Where do you go to read this information? With MANY members of my family very much entrenched in the SDA church, I really would like to read this information.

Thank you and God bless.

Thomas--this has nothing to do with abortions, but since you posted here most recently I just want to ask you how your sister is? How did her surgery go?

BTW, I'd be interested to see those articles too! Are they available?

FYI, My sister had some good news, three days before scheduled surgery. A new procedure has been developed which will be able to correct her situation WITHOUT INVASIVE SURGERY. It is a real answer to all of our prayers. I know this is not the answered prayers section, however as the question was asked here, it is the place to answer. She is scheduled for the procedure which will, as I understand it, "seal" the tumor and effectively end the problem. God, in his great mercy and love has allowed man to learn so much to aid and assist His children. Praise Him. Please remember her on the 30'th and 31'st. Thank you for your Christian love and continued prayers.

Thomas so glad to hear that a way was found to handle your sister's problem without the invasive surgery. God is good. We will continue to pray.

As for your question on where specifically you could find the articles. Don't know other than to tell you to go to the library and do some digging in the periodical section. I remember the article in Focus on the Family. And the newspaper would have been The Atlanta Journal or Denver Post most likely. We were getting Christian Science Monotor at the time too, so maybe there was something in there as well. Sorry I can't be more specific than that. Had saved the letter from the GC for a long time, but I'm sure that is long gone now.
