BMorgan, Thanks for the info on the web sites! I'll look at them later. I was on the Review one last night but was so tired I didn't go through all the proceedings. I did read briefly in one about a discussion on the term 'Remnant'. Someone apparently had proposed that the S.D.A. church be termed a 'part of the remnant', not the only remnant...I think this was causing a stir... So everyone may like to go to those two different sites for themselves.

BMorgan, I got a sick feeling in my stomach reading those letters to you! I wish I was there with you to give you a hug! Those are abusive, horrible letters--all in the name of 'spirituality.' I've heard many of the same sentiments my whole life. Just this part from the first letter makes me want to throw up!

Quoted from above: (not me writing this!!)

"Your rejection of the Adventist message is not a rejection of the church as it is a rejection of God's last day message. You may feel free as a bird right now. Maybe it's because Satan has you right where he wants you. Happy and content in rejecting light. I don't agree that we are similar to the Catholic church in saying that this is God's church and God's last day message. Noah had a message for his time. It was truth and nothing but the truth. Other's may have had some truth but it wasn't the truth for that time. Other churches may have some truth that they can contribute. But if it's not according to the "law and testimony," there is no light in it."

You have done remarkably well surviving this type of stuff for two years! I will be praying for you to know whether to leave or whether you can have any influence on them anymore...

And, yes, this place has been a place of refuge for me, too. Truly, "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is-- Freedom...Liberty...Forgiveness...Encouragement...Guidance...GRACE!

Blessings to you today!

In debt always to His Mercy,
Cindy

P.S. Perhaps I sound I little strong in my above comment about those letters; but I really think this shows the spiritual battle going on for the Supremacy of Christ Alone!! What emphasis do they give Jesus!? How can they threaten those who trust in Jesus alone!? This is what Simeon prophesied long ago with little baby Jesus...

"Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother, 'This Child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and TO BE A SIGN THAT WILL BE SPOKEN AGAINST, SO THAT THE THOUGHTS OF MANY WILL BE REVEALED. And a sword will pierce your own soul too'." Luke 2:34&35

I also like the words of a song by Michael Card:

"HE will be the TRUTH that will offfend them one and all... A Stone that makes men stumble and a Rock that makes men fall..."

Grace alone, Cindy

Hi BMorgan. Where was it that you were able to listen to the discussion...that part you wrote out above like a transcript? Where was that at? I've been to the site, but did not see where you could listen to it. Thank you, Sherry

Cindy, you mentioned David Neff as being the executive editor of Christianity Today. Do you know if this is the same David Neff who is the cohost with R. C. Sproul on the "Renewing Your Mind" radio program? It has been a long time since I heard David at Walla Walla College, but the voice I hear on the radio matches what I remember. I enjoy the depth and substance in R.C Sproul's bible studies.

Bmorgan, thanks for posting your story.

Sherry2,
Sorry, I was speaking figuratively when I said I "listened" in on the discussion. Sorry, it felt like I was there. I know some of the men. The chairman, Harold Baptiste and John Josiah.
Cindy,
I really do appreciate your sweetness. I have been so accustomed to hearing sentiments-quotes-like those that now they make me laugh out loud.

Thanks for the info about the magazine. I will pick one up soon.
Hi Darrell,
Thanks for reading my story. Long time no see. Are you still driving south? :<(
How about starting a FAF over in OUR neck-of-the-woods? It would be great to have Richard and Colleen visit you (us). Just kidding. Call us when you start the fellowship. Okay?

In freedom, liberty, encouragement (Thanks Cindy)

Darrell, Hi! I'm not sure if that's the same David Neff on R.C. Sproul's radio program, but it very well may be. I haven't listened to the program, but it sounds good--I'll have to find it and listen in. I've only read articles of Sproul's and one of his books, 'The Invisible Hand (do all things really work for good?)'. I've heard his book, 'Faith Alone' is very good...

As far as the Neff's, I don't know them personally, but yes, they were at Walla Walla College, (late 70's-early 80's?)

Grace to you Darrell!

Hi BMorgan, does that mean you found that information from off the site? Could you tell me where it's at so I could direct my husband there? Thank you.

Yes, I found the information on the site listed below. Look under the heading: Fourth Business Meeting, July 2,2000.
Keep scrolling down after the proposals and you can read the discussion/debate.

Some interesting reading there.

Sherry2...

Somehow I was not able to get to the site except by first just going to www.adventistreview.org/
and clicking 'actions proceedings'... then clicking at the top on 'previous actions, proceedings'-- back to Bullitin #4 of the Business Session of July 2,2000.

The page starts with the votes taken (they did pass a vote here, at the very end, to prepare a resolution on Bible study, also. This Bible resolution was voted on in the final Business Session late Friday afternoon, July 7.

The transcripts of the dialog Bmorgan posted earlier on the EGW resolution follow, (as you scroll down from the actual votes taken).

Grace always,
Cindy

Cindy, R. C. Sproul's cohost is Bill Neff, not David. Sorry about the confusion.

On the subject of the GC resolution to promote Ellen White, I am tempted to give a few choice quotes to my pastor and local elders as suggested subject matter for future sermons! Bruce gave some good examples in another thread recently, such as Ellen telling women not to lace their waists tightly, because their daughters will inherit deformed bodies. Naah, . . . why bother, it wouldn't do any good anyway.
