Thanks so much to those who responded to my post with prayers and support.
It is comforting to know that there are so many people that know exactly what I am talking about and how I feel.
Thank God for this site! God Bless

Cas, in response to your 8-3 post, "I guess still in the back of my mind are all the quotes from Ellen White about the church seeming it is about to fall in the last days and, many will fall away, and among those that do they will be the most vicious to their former church. And you know all the rest of the taboo's to anyone even entertaining the thought of leaving. Those kinds of predictions are I guess meant to do what they are doing, and that is to make one feel fear and guilt."

In light of all this and the quotes on my 7-31 post by EGW herself, I wonder - have you ever seen a better case of job security?

I agree, Lynn. Richard and I used to ponder those statements of Ellen's occasionally and have pangs of doubt and fear. But since we renounced Adventism, those statements don't bother us anymore.

Her deception was complete. She had circular reasoning that left no doorway through which you could sneak out. No matter what you did, you had to stick with Ellen.

Amazing, isn't it?

Jesus never works by manipulation or fear or pushing you into a corner. He's direct, honest, and the issues are clear with him. What a contrast! And he actually loves us!

Oh OK Lynn, I know you are the one that wants to smack me! ha.
But... I do take this issue very seriously, I was baptized at 13, then again at....well lets say 3 years ago and here I am waffleing again. It's true I am not waffleing over the Lord this time just the church, still I don't want to make a rash decision until I am done with my studies. (I am convinced and have been for some time that Ellen White is a false prophet, and the church has some major problems),so I will wait on the Lord for his guidance. I pray to never be deceived again.

By the way your 7/31 piece was execellent and I do agree with what you said, you did really get specific about your reasons. I am going to scour over it again tonight. I printed it up for my neighbor whom is looking into becoming an Adventist!

Cas; Why in the world would I want to smack you? I truly didn't mean to come across that way. Nothing could be further from the truth. My heart & prayers go out to you & many others like you.
Sometimes I feel like smacking certain leaders for living lives of deliberate deception, but they're all dead. Not to mentioned for being made heros for making a living spreading gossip; and no matter how you look at it, the "Testimonies" are 9 volumes of vicious gossip!

Reading these testimonies from people like you who have been deceived makes me sad, especially knowing, like Colleen said, the leaders made sure you were trapped. That's why when most Adventists leave the church, they don't go anywhere for so long - they're afraid to.

My 7-31 post barely scratched the surface. I've gone through EGW's "Conflict of the Ages" series & systematically documented every occurrence of scriptural mis-quotes, contradictions, etc. I don't believe I've ever seen this done in a chronological order before. This is not an attack on Ellen White on a personal level, it's simply holding her writings next to the Bible & showing the contrasts. I'd be happy to share it with you if you'd like.

Maybe I should give a little bit of my own testimony. I wasn't raised Adventist, but I was raised in a disfuntional family who moved a lot & there was no real security in knowing where my next meal would come from or where I would sleep each night. I've been going to a counselor lately, & one thing I discovered is why I have such an intense love for God's Word & why it's so important to share it with others & to defend it from creeping heresies. It's because it's the only constant in my life. It will never change. It's my food & my rest. I have the love for it some people have for their children. So if someone tries to rewrite it to support their own doctrine (e.g. "The Clear Word Bible"), I get a little ticked. Why? Because people's lives are at stake. People like you.
Studying Adventism gave me more appreciation for my Lord than anything else. It was through comparing Adventist doctrine to Scripture that I truly learned to appreciate what Christ did for us. Jesus, and Jesus alone was the one who bore our sins for us back on Calvary (past tense). Satan will in no way, shape, or form, bear our sins for us some day. The wonderful news that Protestants tend to take for granted (because they can't imagine it any other way) is that "Jesus Paid it All."
I love the Lord & His Word. I love people. My goal is to bring them together. There's a hugh pile of trash between you & God's Word. I'll do whatever it takes to remove that pile for you, Cas.
Love, Lynn

Lynn,
It sounds as if you have had some tough times, I am glad you have such peace now.
I love your terminology about smacking people, it makes me laugh. I wasn't serious when I said I knew you wanted to smack me, although no doubt someone needs too!
I am very interested in how you did your study of Ellen White, would you be willing to discuss this further with me. This must have taken you a lot of time.
God Bless you Lynn, you are a real inspiration.

Cas: "would you be willing to discuss this further with me."
There's nothing I would like better. You're right it took about a year. Thanks for the encouragement.

Colleen, if you're interested, I'd like to submit this documentation as a permanent article for your web. Do you have an area for articles? I have a few.
Lynn
