dear friends,

many of you know my story. I dated an SDA who was, unbeknownst to me, 'missionary' dating me. naively, I thought that Christian was Christian, and that to all Christians God's love comes first. it all fell apart when i found out what his doctrine really was, and what SDA really represented, and how he really felt about EGW.

i'm in total agreeance with Colleen that SDAism is on the surface rather benign looking. however, my own personal experience left me deeply wounded and hurt. for months I've struggled with how to feel about SDAs. coming to acknowledge that some are truly saved, and then trying to come to terms with 'truly saved Christians' possessing and fostering a gamut of false doctrine. also that fellow brothers and sisters in Christ would view others from the family of God as enemies, as those marked with the Beast, as those with less spiritual understanding and inferior.

i've been feeling angry and upset for a good portion of the time. angry about the false doctrine propagated in the church, upset at the blind support of EGW, and frustrated at the entire subculture of Adventism being so closed and self-righteous. and angry at the deception of the church to other Christians.

the other day, I attended an SDA church in Loma Linda, and I was incredulous, reading brochures called "National Sunday Law" and other Adventists publications. it looked like any other church does ... a gathering of believers. silently I fumed at the 'spiritual' front being used to spread wrong teachings.

of course the only solution is "take it to the Lord in prayer." when I think of my ex-b/f and his family (siblings, parents, grandparents, cousins, uncles, and aunts) I feel quite lost, not knowing where to start. but then i thought of all the people on this forum who have loved ones still deeply immersed in SDAism (whether they are traditional or not) that would love for them to experience life outside of SDAism.

we need to pray that the veil will be lifted. and the best way would be to do it together. i was hoping/wondering if everyone who wants to pray for someone or some people they knew in the SDA church could agree on a time when we, in our different locations could pray for those we love.

WDYT? :), my suggestion for a time is Mondays at 7pm PST :), coz i live in Cali, and I know that's not too late Central or Eastern Standard time.

love, Chyna

Sign me on the list of pray-ers, Chyna.
Thank you for the wonderful idea. Even though I do pray for many of my friends, I am not consistent. Mondays at 9pm CST? Texas time.

Chyna, this is a very good idea! I'll be happy to pray every Mon. evening. I'll just put it on my calendar to remind myself. While I pray often for the SDA's I know, a scheduled and corporate prayer time is probablly "a good thing"!

There most certainly is power in prayer! When it comes to SDA's having the veil removed, the only thing that will work is the power of God alone.

In Christ,
