Greetings from Onesimus, who is one of you! (Colossians 4:9) Onesimus was part of an encouragement team, so here is my encouragement for the day: For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord...Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them...Everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everthing visible! (Eph 5:8-13) Grace to you all until we "meet" again.

Praise the Lord for a fabulous spirit-filled web-site, Richard. May God lead and direct truth-seeking individuals who have been spiritually abused and are willing to trust their Bible and it alone. "Every word of God is flawless. Do not add to his words or He will rebuke you and prove you a liar." Proverbs 30:5,6. My God was fully able to put anything He wanted us to know within the pages of the Bible for once and for all. God Bless...

I am interested very much in Adventest doctrine. I am a christian who witnesses to the Jehovahs witnesses and the Mormons. I find that knowing some of the doctrines of the SDA church help me witness to the Witnesses because of the fact that they came from an Adventist background. It is to me remarkable how they have evolved. Anyone with historic information on the development of these doctrines can reach me at oldmonk@ccnmail.com. I would love to share and discuss these isues with you.Anyone with any information on how Adventism and Mormonism interacted in the early days would be also asked to contact me. I have an idea that they affected each other in some way but cannot find anything concreat. Thanks to all that set up this site!!

Just dropped by to say "Hi". It's nice to see such support online for those who've left Seventh-Day Adventism. We know. It can be tough for a time after leaving the "remnant" cult. We did so in open rejection/opposition to their "prophet" Ellen White in early '98. We created quite a little ruckus at the Mid-Rivers SDA in St. Peters, MO at the time. We've since disengaged from that fray. Well, I have but my wife hasn't. It is so exasperating to find that most Adventists angrily avoid discussing their "prophet", however understandable that may be. Jesus told us that false prophets would attempt to deceive "...even the very elect." (Matt 24:24) so we thank Him alone for so quickly delivering us from that tarpit of deception.

Kudos to Richard & Colleen Tinker, Sondra Hughes, and the others involved here for this fine, Spirit-led outreach.

Good to see another attempt to reveal the TRUTH to Adventism to Adventists. The vail of Moses can be very thick sometimes, keep up the faith as you work in God's vinard.

A heartfelt "thank you" to the creators of this forum.

[If anyone wants to read a really good article on the Sabbath (in my opinion), click on Gary Mayo's link above (hi, Gary--a little plug here), and then scroll down to Jack Gent's article, God's Rest.]

Thank you so much for setting up a forum like this. It is wonderful to be able to talk to former SDAs. Since I have left this cult 4 years ago, I have not had too much opportunity to really talk to other former SDAs, except online.

Since become a Christian 4 years ago, the Lord moved me to establish an Internet gospel outreach. You can see my ste at:

God bless you all,

I am so happy to have found your website. I am also a former Adventist and at times feel so alone. I have found one friend on line that I email, and am so grateful for her. I know I will enjoy your website and will write more as I learn more about it. I am a Christian that loves Jesus and God, and would love to find a group of former Adventist to fellowship with in my area. Since I have no group at the present, I will continue to enjoy your website. I would be grateful for any email. RaynaKay@aol.com

I used to read testimonies a lot before i broke away from adventism. One thing I read that particulary bothered me (apart from many other things)was an instance where she was asked to pray for a sick man and wouldn't because the man masturbated (I think she used the term self abuse)and God would not hear her prayer. This really bothered me but I let it slide like so many other things she wrote. It is amazing on looking back at it how we as adventist didn't question more the things she wrote and the resulting affects on our doctrines. It isn't that we didn't believe in righteousness by faith but because of EGW there was always on underpining of works involved. I think this is true even of Morris Vendon who taught righteousness by faith in every sermon but I never understood it by his sermons. Because even he had to put some works in it by saying bible study and prayer are not optionable. That left me with the question of how do I know when I have done enough bible study and prayer and so I never had assurance of salvation (of coarse EGW says you should never have assurance). I have since learned that once you ask Christ into your life you are sealed and He will never let you go. If you stray away He will bring me back, so that even my desire for bible study and prayer is His work not mine.

Just wanted to add that you are sealed by the holy spirit when you asked Christ into your life. Also I remember the day when I finally realized that EGW was not a profit, it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. Unfortunately I think it is impossible for the adventist churh to ever give up EGW because even though SDA's deny it EGW is the adventist church.

Again I want to say how thankful I am for finding this site! It is truly a blessing to me. I feel as though I have found people that I can relate to as a lot of us have been through the same experience in the Adventist Church. I was an Adventist for 23 years until I attended some meeting in the 70's conducted by Robert Brinsmead and came to know the wonderful truth of the gospel of righeousness by faith in Jesus. After understanding that we are not justified before God by keeping of any law, which I had attemped to do for years and not succeeding, I was estatic.
Through the years of being an Adventist I had many personal problems in my home and in my life. But now I look back and realize that all this happened for a reason. I am slowly coming to realize how sinful we all are. I am studying the book "Commentary on St. Paul's Epistle to the Galatians" by Martin Luther and feel truly blessed to know the truth of the gospel and the sinfulness of man. How that God in His great mercy has provided forgiveness of sins, eternal life, justification, and fellowship with Him through the gift of His Son. In ourselves we will always be sinners. I can remember that I used to feel so special being an Adventist, separate from others and almost perfect. But God has shown me different now. We are all great sinners even if we commit no known sin. We will never be good enough to be accepted of God in ourselves. And if we don't believe this, it won't be long until we fall. Our onlly hope is in Jesus, God's Son. He stands before God to be our justification and all Gods promises are in Him. I am so happy for this truth. I try and walk with God everyday contemplating his great mercy toward us all, and also realize how great a sinner I am.

Martin Luther also states that the law is the strenth of sin, increases trangressions. We must be beaten down by the law before we can be able to understand this wonderful truth of God's righteousness in Jesus, which we can only accept by faith. I feel the same about EGW. She was like a Moses with the law beating us down until we can look up and see Jesus and His righteousness only by faith imputed to us. I do believe she was used for a purpose in our lives, to drive us to Jesus. I can accept that now. Again I want to say how thankful I am to have found this site. May God bless us all.

For encouragement and growth within the body of Christ, I would like to recommend some book finds I have recently read. To understand the Bible, read Erwin W. Lutzer's SEVEN REASONS WHY YOU CAN TRUST THE BIBLE. He has 3 other books, all relatively small, YOUR ETERNAL REWARD, ONE MINUTE
AFTER YOU DIE and HOW YOU CAN BE SURE YOU WILL SPEND ETERNITY WITH GOD. One of the best for witnessing to anyone but especially cynics is by Maurice Rawlings, M.D., TO HELL AND BACK. I personally ordered a dozen copies as I have many former Adventist friends who simply hate religion, God and the lot. Then finally for anyone just getting into Revelation there is a new book called REVELATION: GOD's WORD FOR THE BIBLICALLY INEPT by Daymond Duck and Larry Richards. God bless anyone of you who is honestly searching for the meat of the Bible.

Hello, I'm not a former SDA, but I have a "club" on Yahoo, that is an informational club to the Cults.

it's title is False religion Expositor.

I welcome any and all for any testimony you may share at this club concerning your move away from legalism/SDAISM, or any cult.

This web site was brought to my attention by a lady 'lurker' in Tennessee. And, my name is Alan Nash - downsized/trashed pastor "living" in WYO.
On the visitors page I recognize a few names. As one who was "sentenced" to live along the edges af Adventism I have entered into many friendships amongst the so called, un-churched. Never do I tell about my being downsized/trashed after 25 years as a pastor. However, I sense how these un-churched folk welcome my opinions with their flavour of Christian ethics. Such folk would have probably kept me at arms length during my title-bearing days:)
