I've moved the discussion starting with "Roger" from the guestbook to here.

Brethrens it is so sad to read your testimonies as they in deed burdened my heart with sorrows; and I can now understand, as I read of your discontent I can only ask why? why? after 30, 25,23 years you seek to follow after EGW instead of Christ, who
only can save you: That indeed was your greatest mistake. Why did I say that? because each and everyone of you that has fallen away from the fold is placing the blame on EGW writings: The church has never placeed any burden, or forced anyone to read EGW books. This is hypocrisy;and you know it! because you are now stating that you have found a better way [easy religion], and to the Pastors who have left the SDA church and are breaking up the body of Christ in even more bits, and pieces,I say unto you, seek the counsel of ISA.56,as contained therein are strong, and graphic language: I would like you all to know[though you are aware]that we the church sorrow over you, who have fallen away from the fold, as we do not want to leave anyone behind, as we march towards the kingdom with one accord, one mind, and in obedience to the will of GOD

Roger, I just wanted to say that one cannot become a member of the SDA Church or stay a member without accepting EGW and her writings.

Just sit through a sermon or a Sabbath School class and listen to her quotes. There would be no SDA church without EGW.

I am no longer a member because I do not accept her writings. Not only that, look at all the profit being made from her books. The gospel is free and is not given through any specific denomination.

Rayna, you are so right. Everything in the SDA's centers on something or other that "sister white" says that the Bible says. It always comes back to that. You cannot separate the two.

I want to comment on one thing you said further up in this strand tho. If you have accepted Christ as saviour then you are no longer a sinner. You have moved from that catagory into the "saved by grace, I am the righteousness of Christ, I have been washed, sanctified, and justified, with the Holy Spirit living in me" category. We are either one or the other.

In our own power we are truly hopeless "sinners". Living in Him we are "saved by grace" and He is at work in us molding us into His image and teaching us who we are in Him

We may still have some sins in our lives. But it's His work of teaching us who we are as His new creation that makes the old things, the sins, fall away. It's not because of our working not to do the things anymore (as the Sda's would have us attempt to do) but our understanding that in Christ we are no longer a person who goes to bars, lies when the truth will do, lashes out to hurt people instead of loving them, etc.

That's the part the Sda's never comprehend. Our effort is not directed toward the choosing not to sin, but in the choosing to love Him more than the sin. In the mindset of "I'm a sinner" we will constantly struggle against the sins in our lives. In the mindset of "I'm saved by grace and filled with the Holy Spirit so therefore God's power is at work in me," we will see the victory over the sin. The not sinning part is the natural outgrowth of the loving Him. Until they grasp the difference they will forever be caught up in the bondage of miserable legalism.

Lydell, Just to clarily my thoughts. I believe in the imputed righteousness of Christ as my only acceptance with God. This work is complete and cannot be added to in this life or ever. I also believe in the work of the Holy Spirit in my life after I believe the gospel, but will always remain a sinner in this life. Even our good works are sinful. Read my comments in another section on this site. This work is not complete in us and will not be until the second coming of Jesus. Thank you for your comment. It is ok to disagree. Would like any more comments.

Roger
Could you tell us a little bit about yourself, how
long have you been an Adventist, how did you
become one etc. Do you have a testimony for us.
What do you mean by "easy religion".

Bruce: you asked the question I was going to ask Mr. Rogers :-)

So, I'll amend mine to include, ...."easy religion" as opposed to "Hard Religion" ala SDA?
What's the attraction? (I dont see any.)

Allenette :-)
