"Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus".
Which commandments?

How about this?
"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By THIS shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
John 13:34-35
If this is how all men shall know, then isn't this the "sign"?

Good point, Lynn. If the Holy Spirit is our seal, then it seems that the fruits of the Spirit are the sign of the seal: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Gal. 5:22)

And talk about a new commandment that couldn't even make sense without the Holy Spirit: to love one another as Jesus loved us? That commandment more than encompasses the principles of the 10. This new commandment can only happen if the Holy Spirit is keeping our "natural man" in submission so He can live his love through us.

The Torah or Book of the Law consists of the first 5 books of the bible and contains 613 commandments: 3 in Genesis, 111 in Exodus, 247 in Leviticus, 52 in Numbers, and 200 in Deuteronomy. The ten commandments are also found in the Book of the Law and are a subset of the Book of the Law.

Seventh-day Adventists have seperated the ten commandments from the Book of the Law and have made the fourth commandment the greatest of all commandments. But Jesus said the great commandment in the law is Matt 22:36-38. "You shall love the lord your god with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." (Deut 6:5) This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: you shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Lev 19:18)

Did you know that Deut 6:5 is commandment number 418 in the Book of the Law. The second great commandment is Lev 19:18 or commandment 243 in the Book of the Law. Neither one is found in the Decalog. If we look in Galatians it says (Gal 3:10): "For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the Book of the Law, to do them."

You have all heard the statement "God wrote it with his finger in stone." Why did God leave out of the stone tablets (the Ten commandments) the two GREAT COMMANDMENTS, 418 and 243, and put them in the Book of the Law?

Do Adventists violate the SECOND GREAT COMMANDMENT, #243 at the expense of the Sabbath or fourth commandment in the decalog. Do Adventists love their fellow Christians as they love themselves, or do they see them as Babylon, with 666 written on their foreheads?

Look at John 13:34. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another." This sounds a lot like commandment 243 or Lev 19:18. Why then does John call it a new commandment? Because it is in the New Covenant and as the New Covenant it needs new Laws.

Adventists continually say, "If you love me, keep my commandments," and they refuse to continue on into the next verses and chapters to define what those commandments are. Also in 1 John. Then when John in Revelation says, "Here are they who keep the commandments of God" they fail to recognize that John defines those commandments in
John 13, 14, and 15.
Thanks for all your beautiful posts - I flee here for respite from Adventist Issues, where those of us who love the Gospel are called Jesuits, envoys of the Pope, servants of Satan, and just yesterday Bacchiocchi referred to us as swine!

Even so, come Lord Jesus!

Well Pat, I can think of a lot of words I'd use to describe you, like intelligent and caring, but swine? Nahhh. Sorry you ran into those sorts over there. You just have to think that if people get down into name callingit has to be because you, or rather the Lord!, has hit a nerve. Guess all we can do when folks react that strongly is think back to how long it took stuff to find sink into our own thick brains. God was very patient with us. Maybe those seeds you planted will have to set around awhile to germinate.

You know one really great thing about the word of God is that it just can't be stopped. Can you see it now? Some of those folks who you have so annoyed go to sabbath school class and share with someone there what "an idiot on the Internet" said to them this week. And that little seed goes straight to the heart of someone there who is listening and has already begun to doubt and is searching for the truth. Gee, almost makes being called a swine worth it! ha

Pat, I just wanted to say that I subscribed to the adventist issues list for a while. I unsubed because what I saw was paranoia, bipolar disorder, and seperatism at it most defignable level! It was scary! If I want a roller coaster ride I will go to the amusement park.

I missed the swine comment, but I was amazed by his monkey comment toward his students.

This forum has a nice layout. And with Pat and party, how can it loose.
