Max,
Medical Ministry, 1932 edition.
I didn't have Colleen's number to call. Still need to call her come Friday during day and see what and where it is being held.
Btw, my friend has three posts to put on here this week. He has been working on them for two days. He is eager to be involved, not only on this forum but also the meetings.
God Bless,
Denise
P.S. The book I'm using currently has many chapter with subtitles. I'm not sure which ones I should post at the source so I've begun putting all info in regards to the source.

And who was the one designated by God to
signal the time that would come "when we
may have to discard some of the articles of
diet we now use, such as MILK and CREAM
and EGGS"?

That person must NOT be Ellen White herself,
since she died without ever so signalling.
Who then? And why have more than 85 years
passed with no signal?

Elsewhere EGW writes that the time would
come when believers WOULD -- not MAY --
have to discard milk. Why did she change
"would" to "may"?

Ellen White Admits to Drinking Coffee for Medicinal purposes!

I have not knowingly drunk a cup of genuine
coffee for twenty years, ONLY, AS I STATED, DURING MY SICKNESS-FOR MEDICINE-I DRANK A CUP OF COFFEE, VERY STRONG, WITH A RAW EGG BROKEN INTO IT. Letter 20 1882 (to friends) 2SM 302

Max,
Good question. Maybe just maybe she knew something she wasn't telling? Course then again, maybe her angel said to her 'ellen, I've really gotta say, I LOVE the smell of coffee. Must we do away with it?' Or maybe the angel really said toffee and not coffee and our sister Ellen wouldn't cop to a hearing problem..(sorry, didn't mean to get carried away).
God Bless,
Denise

And maybe the angel said 'silk' not milk. There are thousands of possibilities. Then again, maybe it's all UNtrue and we will never have to give them up. Hmmm..
I know many adventists, devout followers of Ellen White that drink coffee. They drink milk too. Why is that??
God Bless,
Denise
P.S. one site that I have many downloaded floppies of material from is now closed, BUT, they are selling the CDs. Infact, I have alot from 'various topics' on my floppy dis. Go figure. :))

Then again, maybe she later said 'may' because they owned a cow (Ellen and James) and people were asking her about her diet.

"My husband tried to sell our sofa for the meeting-house, offering to give ten dollars of its value, but could not. At this time our only and VERY VALUABLE COW died. My husband then for the first time felt that he could receive help, and addressed a note to a brother, stating that if the church would esteem it a pleasure to make up the loss of the COW they might do so. But nothing was done about it only to charge my husband with being insane on the subject of money."
Testimony for the Church Volume 1, page 582, third paragraph.

Denise,

^^I know many Adventists, devout followers of
Ellen White, that drink coffee. They drink milk
too.^^

Three questions:

1. Do they know that she prophesied against
coffee, denounced it, classified it with
narcotics, ordered it to be discarded?

2. If they do know that, then how do they
reconcile their devotion to Ellen?

3. Do they believe she was only a "good
woman" who was no prophet?

Similar questions could apply to their milk
drinking.

Keep hanging in there,
Max

How do these EGW-devoted people reconcile
their coffee drinking with this warning from her
angel?

"Coffee drinking is a sin, an injurious
indulgence, which, like other evils, injures the
soul. --Ellen G. white, Counsels on Diet and
Foods, p. 425, written in 1896.

Well, Max, these are excellent questions. I've asked many who claim to follow egw and I get varied answers. It depends on which 'variety' sda they are.
You have the sda who does not believe egw was a prophetess.
Then there are those who follow her with the most rigid life I've ever encountered.
Again, there are those who not only follow egw but the OT Laws (or some of them ie. not mixing of different materials together etc).
But mostly I find those that truly believe egw was a prophetess but when asked about these issues we are currently discussing, their answers are 'well, she is a prophetess, inspired of God, BUT,,it was for her time period', or 'well, yes, she is the Spirit of Prophecy BUT, THAT LIGHT BACK THEN WAS FOR THEN, NOW WE HAVE NEW LIGHT', when I ask the source of this 'new light' they still claim it is egw but it is now as the 'CHURCH TEACHES ONLY'.
So, I'm not getting far on my research but far enough to surmise that 'suiting ones convenience' will be their guide as to how much they follow or believe. This as I see includes the CHURCH's CONVENIENCE.
I'll continue to research in this very real life of mine. The answers are being written down and my own personal data into the whys and hows of sda beliefs is growing rather large. Think I should put it in a book? :)
God Bless you,
Denise

Valerie,

I want to apologize publically for saying things
which might be hurtful to you while we were
discussing Ellen White and pepper.

I certainly harbor no ill-feelings toward you.

With you in Christ,

Max, That was really sweet. You certainly could have done it on email. I feel uncomfortable leaving my email adress in public but Denise has mine if you would like to correspond. I would as I sense you have the same personality type as my Father and I think you could be of help to me in conversing with him. He is as well studied as you with the same type of zeal that you have. He also can be quite convincing and articulate when he is on a roll. I would like to enter conversation with him but am at a standstill. I love him so and wish God could use me to bring him peace. Once again thank you, that was so kind. Valerie

You guys walk on eggs way too much. PUN INTENDED. GGG. I would HOPE that folks on here who are truly ex's, have decided that THAT WOMAN was as mad as a hatter, and for the same reason!!!!
Why tippytoe around her anymore if you all are fed up formers???? Go look up a Former Mary Baker Eddy website if you need fortitude, or if you are REALLY REALLY REALLY Adventurous (I know that's a stretch for a lot of "former" SDA"s) former Madyln Murray Ohair website(yes I know she's dead) Seems like on most religious this or that view websites, there are a Heck of a lot more women boo hooing than men.....hmm. wonder why? Well, the reason is...that traditionally, it is women who are the church goers altho it is men who are in charge. In the current political climate, we find it is women who are most happy to give up freedom for security, another trait most probable amongst women not men altho the politically correct version will soon have men doing the same chant.

Too bad. As a former SDA PK whose dad chanted the 50's-60's line of anti-Communism pro SDA'ism line, and I determined to be against whatever he liked (GGGG) I find myself leaning towards the "vast right wing conservatives conspiracy" (that Commisar Hillary hates) and would say that the only thing wrong with it, is, it aint VAST ENOUGH!!
WDYThink?

Hi Allenette,

I think that God is sovereign and in total
control of everything that happens:

^^And I saw an angel coming down out of
heaven, having the key to the Abyss and
holding in his hand a great chain.

^^He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent,
who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a
thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss,
and locked and sealed it over him, to keep
him from deceiving the nations anymore until
the thousand years were ended. After that, he
must be set free for a short time.

^^I saw thrones on which were seated those
who had been given authority to judge. And I
saw the souls of those who had been
beheaded because of their testimony for
Jesus and because of the word of God. They
had not worshiped the beast or his image and
had not received his mark on their foreheads
or their hands.

^^They came to life and reigned with Christ a
thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not
come to life until the thousand years were
ended.) This is the first resurrection.

^^Blessed and holy are those who have part in
the first resurrection. The second death has
no power over them, but they will be priests of
God and of Christ and will reign with him for a
thousand years.^^

--John the Beloved Disciple, NIV Revelation
20:1-6.

VALERIE: Doesnt matter about your being sure, replies are welcome

Max: Yes, I know from whereof you speak (I think, if I aint eliminated all the propaganda yet)

At certain times, I give the GOOD OLE SDA MESSAGE ONE MORE TRY, but, it never works, outside of giving the party line comfort (temporary)

Unfortunately, none of the Bible quotes give me comfort, either. Not that I need comfort anyhoo.

Allenette,

Why would you ever "give the good ol' SDA
message one more try"?

Why do you think the Bible is about comfort?

We should be on good terms! We were just yaking on the MSN thingy!

Word pictures make lasting impressions. Somehow, word pictures come to my mind easily.

Was it Spurgeon that was critisized for laughing too much while preaching and advised it would be best to control himself? Anyway, he commented that his critics would be proud of him if they only realized how much he DID control himself!:-))

If Y'all only knew how many word pictures that fly into my mind that I tell to fly out the BIG hole on the other side, you'd be proud of me! Gggggggggggggggg ;-), ;-]];-}}

PS Max, I'm NOT calling you a critic!;-) Just trying a bit of humor!
